Wow! What an experience! The experience I'll never forget. We are repeat, return customers of this…read moreTaxi company Union Cab in Mesa, AZ. Used them before, never a problem. This time I had to go to the airport early Sunday morning. Couldn't use Uber, because in the area where we live it's a problem sometimes to find available Uber cars. So I couldn't take a chance, and my husband reserved a ride through this taxi company. He made a reservation 5 days in a advance. In the past they also called us a day before to confirm. This time we never heard from them. So we called them on Saturday to confirm and make sure our reservation is still good. They wouldn't pick up the phone. After trying to call several times, we left a message confirming and asked them to call us back to make sure they got our message. Never heard from them! I started freaking out at that point. So early Sunday morning right before my ride was supposed to be there, I started calling them again. They didn't pick up the phone, and the voice mail said that the office was closed(?????). I couldn't even leave a message, it was no such option. So at that point I thought that I would have to either try Uber again, or to wake up my husband to take me to the airport. I went upstairs to get dressed and left my phone downstairs. When I came down, I found a message on my phone from the taxi driver saying that he is coming to pick me up. Then he said that I must call him back immediately to confirm(!!!!), otherwise he'll cancel my reservation. I called back that same second, and of course, the same message: "the office is closed"! Mind you , their website says , they are open 24 hours! However, I had nothing to loose at that point, so I called again after 5 min. Lucky for me that driver miraculously picked up the phone. He started telling me off right away for not confirming my reservation! What?? I said: " How could I possibly confirm if you guys are not picking up and your office is closed?? He said he didn't know what I was talking about. I said, just please come and take me to the airport. I am ready. Never mind everything else. So he showed up and we left. Everything from that point on was ok, actually. He was friendly and I didn't want to discuss the subject anymore. It didn't matter anymore. I was on my way to the airport. I found it odd, however, that the whole time the guy was badmouthing Uber. How unreliable they are, how they overcharge customers , etc. I didn't want to argue with him. Although I've worked with Uber for years. Never a problem with them. I also found it unprofessional to badmouth your competitor. You just don't do that. Bad business. But I wasn't about to teach a taxi driver right from wrong. I didn't care. At the end of the trip I tipped the guy. 20%! Who tips 20% a taxi driver?? No one I know. But I do. I always do! He was super grateful and wished me a safe trip! That was 2 weeks ago. Today my husband called that company again to reserve our next ride to the airport next week. They refused the service! They started yelling at my husband over the phone, telling him off! They said that I was rude to his driver, almost stood him up(!!!!!), and now they want deposit in advance, otherwise we can pretty much kiss their ass. Well, my husband doesn't take any crap from anybody, and he knew the whole story from me, so he pretty much told them to go f..... themselves and hung up. We immediately called their competitor and booked our ride. Unbelievable! Who treats customers like that? Especially repeat return customers? I am surprised they even have customers... Especially now. Who needs them , when there is Uber and Lift? They should value every client that comes their way. Otherwise they will have none! No apology, nothing! Even if I was this horrible person, the customer is always right! They are obviously not familiar with that expression. Just a bunch of rude, unprofessional clowns! How offending! I just feel like such a fool, tipping this guy. Oh, well. Lesson to be learned. Fortunately, there are others.

I am convinced that this is the best cab company in the valley. I have now used them twice. They…read moreare the only cab company who advertises in the yellow pages that you can book them in advance, which is perfect for when I am feeling especially anal about my travel going smoothly around the holidays. Both times they have been early to pick me and Hubby up, and they take--are you sitting down?-- the shortest route to the airport from my house, unlike the bastards you usually get stuck with who will take a leisurely tour before they get my ass where it needs to go. Union Cab's cars are clean and the drivers are friendly. I did dock them a star because this last time I booked online, but after several hours had not received a confirmation phone call or e-mail. I then called, and it was clear they had not gotten my order. So, just call instead, and rest assured that you will be on time, driven by a nice person who will not screw you over. UPDATE: We used Union Cab a third time at Christmas- they were still early (and this was at 4:30 am!), still friendly, and still reasonable. Somebody got a big fat tip.

4.5 miles from PHX - Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport = less than $25 (including 20% tip= $23.68 total…read moreamount charged to my cc card) I arrived from LA to Phoenix yesterday and a VIP Taxi was the only one at the Taxi curb. Hassan (sp?), an older man, greeted me right away and offered to help me with my bags. His cab was very clean with a bottle of hand sanitizer available to his guests. Before we started to drive off, he put on a mask, which I appreciated - especially during this covid pandemic. When asked, he was wonderful about describing the areas I pointed out on the way to my destination. I arrived to my destination and my exit was quick and easy. A receipt was provided. Later that day, our group of 4 had to get to another destination in Scottsdale. We contacted both Uber and Lyft and were quoted 23-28 minutes. With 2 tweens in tow, we thought it would be fun to see which driver would show up first. After several attempts with different drivers of each company, waiting in the Arizona 100+ degree heat outside for 45+ mins, we gave up and went back inside. Once inside, I found my VIP Taxi receipt and called. They assured me they would send a taxi immediately. I asked if they could give us notice when they were 10 mins away so we could have time to head down to the lobby before they arrived and they agreed. I want to be fair and write another review for that driver - Raul. Overall, with this first initial experience, I had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend VIP Taxi from Phoenix Airport.
