My sister and I hired the firm to represent us in a construction defect case involving our home. At first, our case was assigned to a junior attorney. When that attorney left the firm, Mike Dicks took over. From that point on, the entire process became far more stressful and chaotic than it needed to be. Instead of feeling like our attorney was advocating for us, it constantly felt like we were being pressured, dismissed, or talked down to. Any time we asked questions or pushed back on changes, we were treated as if we were the problem. One of the most maddening patterns was being told that parts of the settlement agreement were "final." We were repeatedly told we could not make further changes. Then the defense would make additional changes anyway, and suddenly those changes were allowed. When we asked questions about those changes, we were told we were jeopardizing the deal. This happened over and over again and created constant confusion about what was actually finalized and what wasn't. Another major issue was the lack of attention to detail. We provided extensive documentation of the problems with our house, including photos and written descriptions. Despite that, several critical issues were not properly addressed in the settlement scope. My sister repeatedly had to review and redline documents herself just to correct errors or omissions that should have been caught by our attorney. A perfect example involves two large floor-to-ceiling windows. Multiple experts who walked through the house suspected those windows were leaking, but we did not yet have clear documentation of water intrusion. Then, right around the time we were being pushed to sign earlier versions of the settlement agreement, a storm came through. During that storm my sister was able to record water visibly running down the inside of one of the windows. Despite that evidence, those windows were still not included in the final settlement scope, even though they were clearly part of the water intrusion issues affecting the property. The office also seemed extremely disorganized. We were asked multiple times for documents we had already provided. Outdated versions of the settlement agreement were circulated and referred to as the final version. At times it genuinely felt like no one was carefully reviewing the documents being sent to us. We were also repeatedly told the defendants were essentially insolvent and that we needed to accept the settlement because there was no money to pursue. When we asked how that determination had been made, the only documentation referenced was a financial disclosure sheet completed by the defendant himself listing limited assets. We were never informed if the actual business's financial records had been reviewed. Throughout all of this, the firm's partner, Daniel Forde, was copied on many of the communications but never stepped in to address the obvious problems. To be clear, the construction work that is now being completed at the property has addressed many of the defects. In fact, the damage turned out to be so extensive that the contractors ultimately ended up doing far more work than what was originally contemplated in the settlement. But that outcome came despite the legal representation, not because of it. What should have been professional legal guidance instead turned into months of unnecessary stress, confusion, and frustration. Far too often it felt like we were the ones doing the detailed review work while also paying legal fees. If you are considering hiring Hoffman & Forde, I strongly recommend asking very direct questions about who will actually handle your case and how closely documents will be reviewed before anything is finalized. We were asked multiple times for documents we had already provided, including basic tax information, and there were frequent email exchanges correcting mistakes or clarifying issues that should have been handled internally. What made the experience especially concerning was that the firm's partner, Daniel Forde, was copied on many of these communications but never stepped in to address the issues. To be clear, the construction work that is now being completed at our house has ultimately addressed many of the defects. In fact, because the damage to the house turned out to be more extensive than anticipated, the defendants ended up doing significantly more work than what was originally contemplated in the settlement. It is heartbreaking and explains a lot in terms of how we were treated, Lendans "just keep the meter going" billing, needless and over the top expensive strategic practices, costly recommendations, hostile behaviors and our terrible experience with Webb Law. We started in January just after his jury verdict against him. He spent 2 months and charged us for working on the wrong road! This was a resolved issue we had explained to him day 1 in January. Still they thought we had a great case and wanted to LITIGATE! We had to stop them in a March meeting and explain it to him again, huge waste of our time and money. They never answered our day 1 question "Can they do this"? He wanted to litigate until opposing counsel educated him. Then he proposed a $10K+ a day arbitration, we declined. Now we were at the end and told him so but he came up with some BS offer he had from the opposition to help with paying for the new driveway. That offer did not exist it and we never got it, just kept the meter going for another couple months. When he could not deliver the offer he came up with a 2 year delay strategy, he wanted to get paid 2 more years!! We said no then he blamed us for not providing information. He said if you can show you gave that to us I will wipe out your entire bill. He had that info the next am. Easement and prior expenses we had given them 1st week in January in our document upload and easily proved!. He had it all!! Still waiting for our check. He was condescending to me and my husband even questioning my husbands manhood. WTH! Read Witte vs Webb and learn. He says we did not pay, another lie we were demonstrably current 6 months in and were asking for the ficticious offer we never got. Then came the 2 year plan when we said no he fired us!! Do yourself a big favor and google Witte vs Webb if considering hiring this practice. None of it is our opinion just facts. He is a liar and worse

She agreed and said, they would contact me and would add a note on the file. That was the only reason why I went with the firm. I felt there was a mutual understanding so i decided to hire Garwood Reeves to represent me. When the retainer was exhausted, no one contacted me, they just sent a bill saying I owed them $$ XX since the retainer was exhausted. Invoices included inaccuracies. - they billed me for "calls" that did not occur. I keep screenshots of all of the calls to record the date and time. - 3 minute calls turned into .5 or more of billable work - 5 minute calls turned into 1 hour billable work. and that rate is at least $450 per hour After months of not talking, they sent me 2 additional invoices for services which I was not aware they were performing. I explained we hadn't talked for months and they had told me months ago we were done. And to top it off, a year later, I self-represented. They got wind I re-opened the case. they sent me a bill for over $2,000 for services I never approved. I was not even aware they were providing services for me. They never called me to discuss the matter. I am baffled. Luckily, I had an email from one year ago asking them to stop billing me (after the 2 invoice) and stop providing services. I am hoping they remove the bill from 2025 because I had specifically stated to stop providing services in 2024. This feels unethical. In hindsight, I feel misled by Emma Slattery so that I can be represented by Garwood. I feel taken advantage of. Also by looking at the several reviews, I am starting to see a pattern i believe that this is typical practice to rack up the billing. Either she is doing this because she's gaining commissions or she is practicing based on the company leadership. But regardless, it is not good. Several phone conversations that I had with her are null and void. She does not recall that I verbally told her several times to stop providing services in 2024. And then in 2025 I told her at least two times that I was self representing. Never did she mention that her company was working on my case . To it resulting in me getting invoiced for over $2000 for services that I was never aware of. My understanding is that we were done with them representing me in 2024.
