    There are reasons this company has so many one-star ratings. To echo one reviewer above, "BUYER…read moreBEWARE: Wish I could give no stars." Called them with an issue with my HotSprings spa. About a year prior, I had similar symptoms and found that a mouse had eaten through the ribbon cable between the control head and the main circuit board. I quickly fixed the problem with a $10, 14 pin replacement cable. I travel a lot and did not have time to troubleshoot it myself this time, so I called Mr Fireplace. When tech arrived, I told him about the previous problem, how I solved it, and asked him to tell me if that was the problem this time. Instead, he changed out the power cable that he said was bad (but he did not show the "bad cable" to me) and then said that I would have to replace the control head and the circuit board with an "upgrade" to the original design (for about $2300, according the Mr Fireplace's estimate later forwarded in an e-mail). Given that the recirculation pump was running before the tech arrived -- as was the case when I had the same symptoms previously -- I doubt seriously that the original cable was bad. Nonetheless, Mr Fireplace invoiced me for over $300. I asked him whether he had seen any evidence of mice chewing on the ribbon cable and he said he hadn't checked, but that he would do so. When I went inside, he left without telling me anything further. I had to leave town again that afternoon. When I returned from my trip, I pulled the control head and immediately found, in plain sight in the control head well, that a mouse had chewed completely through the black corrugated plastic sheathing protecting the ribbon cable and the cable itself. Additionally, the screws to secure the control head, the circuit board cover, and two of the screws securing the external wooden panel covering the internal components of the spa were missing. I called Mr Fireplace MULTIPLE TIMES and asked to speak to the service manager, but he never returned my. I consider Mr Fireplace's business practices unscrupulous and their technical expertise to be incompetent, at best. Do not do business with them!

    We've had this company for years! But! A blower motor went bad. It happens. But now they say…read moreentire AC needs replaced. Because as they say, they can't get the parts. Wrong. They blame it on the companies are all busy... back orders... or the other one you hear " it'll come from China and take months to get" Wrong! It took 20 minutes to find an exact match from about three hours away!!! ALL THEY ARE INTERESTED IN IS SELLING AN ENTIRE UNIT. The cost, $8500 bucks! $8500 bucks. AND better yet, they admit ITS STILL UNDER WARRANTEE!!!!! You gotta be kidding' me! We bought the warrantee- you should do the repair. I understand, the part... Bla, Bla, Bla. I checked. MADE IN USA! And so after repeated calls to Hearth & Home, and messages left. No reply. (No surprise). I called and left message for operation manager. Here is the reply.... Same story.... " Well, I have looked into your service history. You are in need of a blower motor. All the Maytag dealers in our region no longer provide or handle warranty parts. So we have to go direct to Nortek Global, provider of Maytag HVAC products. You can imagine how overrun they are handling warranty since nearly all dealers dropped them with good reason. Last we spoke with them your motor was on back order and they could not offer an ETA. I will reach out to them and see if they have any updates. Hopefully encouraging news. I think I'm contacting an attorney because this company has repeatedly lied to me and is not supporting their warrantee.

    I was charged $149.00 to come out. I did not need a capacitor my old one was fine. they…read morerecommended a new capacitor 30 second to install. They charged me $200.00 for the capacitor. Capacitors cost $10.00. They said I need a new fan motor. New fan motors cost $100.00 and take 30 minutes to install. They quoted me $699.00. Another grossly overcharge. This is a terrible way to run a business. Businesses like these are built by referral. I would not ever use this company again or refer them to anyone.
