I foolishly thought they would have the best interest of my daughter at heart as well. Unfortunately, within a day after we purchased the 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe with 183,000 miles on it, we began having issues. We noticed a shudder upon acceleration when my daughter would accelerate. Follow this by popping noises while turning. I decided it best to take the car into our mechanic we have used for years and trust. Honest mechanics who will save you a buck if they can. He did a full inspection on the vehicle for her while also addressing her concerns. Come to find out the right CV boot needs to be replaced - hence the shuddering. What will that do if it stops working? Stop the wheel from turning. What will that lead to when going 70 mph on the interstate? Accident and potentially severe or fatal injuries. Secondly, the popping noises are caused by the front right and left lower control arm bushings being worn out. What happens when those break? The tires buckle under the vehicle. What happens at 70 mph on the interstate when that happens? Accident with potentially severe or fatal injuries. There were several other minor issues found, but I expected that with a used car. My disappointment here is that they say they inspected the vehicle and looked it over and fixed anything of major concern. Those two things are major concerns. Before we could ask, we were told the price was not negotiable and our total was set. I recognize we chose to buy this vehicle. However, this was with the understanding all major issues would have been disclosed, especially potentially life-threatening malfunctions. I did phone Crossroads and they offered to replace them at cost. I live an hours drive away from them and my daughter has no means to get to work without this vehicle, hence the reason we purchased it. How am I willing to let anyone drive a vehicle that could cause an accident an hours distance? Especially my daughter. I countered that they could help her pay for the repairs locally, and they are totally unwilling to even entertain the idea of helping her because they want to see it first. Well, you already saw the vehicle and never noticed it, why would I expect you to find an issue now? Further, I trust my mechanic who hasn't taken advantage of us in cost up to this point, so why would I trust someone who I don't know and who didn't notice any of these issues to replace it and also downplayed the significance of these issues with my 16 year old daughter behind the wheel! Life lessons are hard. This one is particularly hard for my daughter who now has to come up with the funds to repair her vehicle so it can be safe and road-worthy for her. She trusted these two gentleman to be honest and have her best interest - or at least her life - at heart. She learned she cannot trust others to have her life or best interest at heart, especially when it comes to money as that seems to be the most important thing to these two gentlemen. It truly breaks my heart she had to learn this lesson at such a young age. So, thank you gentlemen for that lesson, and no thanks, we won't be doing any further business with you or sending anyone else we know your way. Best wishes!
