The environment feels like you'll want to wear something with buttons or dark jeans but otherwise it's fairly casual. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Food: We came here for 15th Tuna Fight Club. It is a monthly event where they buy a whole tuna, break it down while you watch, then prepared it into a 10-course meal. The tuna is raise off the coast of baja california in large multi-mile wide pens where the tuna forage on their natural diet instead of small tanks and nutritional pellets. They are harvested sustainably which is why Aker uses this company. Each fight club is different the previous with the chefs playing around with different preparations and flavors beyond your traditional sushi. Our round had elements of Mediterranean ingredients including a wasabi-infused tzatziki and one dish had the tuna topped with harissa for instance. While the next fight club will be different, what I can say in general is that if you like raw tuna, you will have a one-of-a-kind experience here. You will probably still love getting your standard order at your favorite sushi restaurant but you'll get to try tuna flavor combinations you've never had and with peak textures and fresh ingredients. We did get some cocktails as well as shared the drink pairing you can pay extra for with the fight club and there were some gems on there as well. Overall we had a great time and would gladly do the fight club again. I agree with the other reviewers that it is on the pricier side and not all the dishes/drinks are perfect but I appreciate the creativity/uniqueness offered here. I would definitely come back again to give their regular menu a try.

The pickles were delicious and the Gyoza was phenomenal. I loved the dry aged fatty tuna. And the crudo special with the Peruvian sauce was delicious. We had sashimi and rolls as well. The attention to detail on all elements was well done - to the oak barrel aged soy sauce to the ambiance, I would absolutely come back here!

While I wouldn't describe White Horse as expensive, it does give upscale bar vibes with upscale pub food. The interior vibes are very hipster, packed with tables, including a few communal ones. The bar is. sight to see, with bottles towering to the ceiling. This is a 21+ restaurant, so be aware if dining with kids. I absolutely loved that they had NA beer on tap. Stoked to order my first on-draft NA IPA. Yum! We ordered the French dip and the steak sandwich. Both sandwiches came with fries, and both were fantastic. Neither was unbelievable or groundbreaking, but very solid renditions of each dish. I loved the pickles served with each dish. The fries were good but a tad salty. The service was good. Food came fast; the server checked in on us often. White Horse is located on a street with several other great restaurants, all highly rated on Yelp. While some are a bit more expensive, there is a lot of overlap between White Horse and some of these other great restaurants. It's a challenging block to make a choice! White Horse is a fun, intimate restaurant that is great for drinks, and I'd imagine they don't really have a bad dish on the menu. I would recommend it for a nicer spot to dine in downtown SLC.
