Had the brisket grilled cheese and the brisket quesadilla at the Safety Harbor food and music festival. The food was fresh, tasty. The brisket was the best I've eaten in a very long time, especially in the area. Mike and his team are a friendly group and provide excellent service.

Treehouse BBQ had the shortest line at the Sunshine City Smokeout in St Pete this weekend. We hopped in line after checking out the menu. It took roughly 10 minutes to order, and then we were told the wait would be 45 minutes for the food. The food actually took 1.5 hours to prepare. We had a few drinks and empanadas while we waited. I ordered the brisket grilled cheese and a side of potato salad. The brisket sandwich was delicious. The meat had tons of flavor and was cooked nicely! And the gouda cheese was perfect. I wasn't thrilled with the potato salad, but I ate it anyway. The wait time was excessive. There was only one person making the sandwiches. The smokeout had quite a few patrons. If possible, I suggest two cooks next time. But I did appreciate the delicious brisket! I would try Treehouse again, but next time I will ask how long the wait is for the food before placing my order.

Who knew that one of the best grouper sandwiches in town was at a college bar/restaurant? But it's…read moretrue and they have the local reviews and awards to back it up, not to mention the groper sandwiches. We stopped here once before to try the highly acclaimed grouper sandwiches only to find out that they had a large event on campus that day and were completely out of grouper. Undaunted by this set back we returned this week and luckily they had grouper. Aside from the traditional styles of Grouper sandwiches (blackened & grilled) they offer 4 unique styles, Crunchy Grouper, The Journalist, The Adventurer & The Greuben. I've had a bunch of the grilled & blackened version so I tried The Journalist. The Journalist is Fresh Florida Grouper - served on a homemade rosemary roll with lettuce and tomato. The grouper is grilled and topped with mushrooms, onions and swiss cheese. Most hardcore groper fans would scoff at this combo since it masks the true flavor of the groper which is light flaky fish with a mild flavor. But what the heck, I've had tons of "regular" grouper sandwiches so why not try something completely different. It was awesome and the mushroom, onions & swiss cheese combo added a unique flavor. They don't offer sides with each sandwich so I added the potato salad and it was fresh and had great flavor. My wife ordered the Greuben blackened, she also was very happy with her choice. She has ordered other versions of this before and really liked that the sandwich wasn't overwhelmed with 1000 island dressing. The service is self ordered from the counter and if you're looking for a high end atmosphere this isn't the place. Remember it's located on the USF campus. But one of the advantages of it being on campus is the food prices are very reasonable. So if you want a kick ass grouper sandwich and a good craft beer, you found the right place.

While the food is good, not great at the Tavern, they do give large portions. But here is our issue…read morewith the Tavern at Bayboro. You pre-pay for your food at the counter and you can either wait for it inside or someone will bring it to you. While checking out to pay, before the final price shows, there is a tip "suggestion:" Either 15%, 20%, 25% or custom. The guy at the counter is waiting for you to choose your selection BEFORE they even start making your food. What is one supposed to do?! It is rude and intimidating. They don't even deliver drinks! What do they do to deserve any tip? If one goes to The Big Catch, where their food is certainly comparable (and their beans much more flavorful), a server takes one's order and delivers the food and drinks. At that point, the customer can decide how much tip they want to leave. A lot of seniors and families go here. Consider if 4 people get 4 grouper sandwiches, 2 orders of fries and 4 of their tiny bottled beers ($4.75 each!). That bill is approx. $100! If one would leave the minimum suggested, that is another $15! $15 for seniors and/or most families is a lot of money. And for what? Customers everywhere are tired of these eateries demanding tips. Finally, The Tavern charges for other sauces besides their basic, bland tartar sauce. That is really quite petty, in our humble opinion.

**** Review 170 ****…read more This place has become a regular for me and it's all because of the wings. They are THE BEST wings in St. Pete hands down! Crispy, juicy, tender, saucy deliciousness. If you just want some of the best wings you've ever had then you need to stop by. But, wings is just one of the items that are great. Their burgers are second to none! So many options, with so many toppings. Burgers are HUGE, juicy, well seasoned. Everything from tenders to peanut butter on a burger....you have to try it! Hot dogs are good too, they're fried so you get a nice crisp snap with every bite. Their sides are always delicious and great beer selection. And everything is reasonably priced for being in St Pete. This place is narrow, but long with seating in the back for larger parties, so it can get crowded. Staff is always really nice and ready to give you recommendations. If you're looking for a great night of wings, burgers and beers with your friends then this is your place.
