The Truth About Treehouse -- Read This Before You Join Treehouse markets itself as the most "premium" gym in the Salt Lake Valley -- and for years, it truly was. With a premium price came premium amenities, instructors, and classes. Unfortunately, that's no longer the case. Treehouse has changed drastically in recent years, especially within the last few months, and what used to be a top-tier experience now feels far from premium. Membership Costs & Contracts Be aware: the initiation fee is inconsistent and feels misleading. It often varies depending on who you speak with in member services. You can join month-to-month or commit to a full year, but if you choose the annual contract, you are locked in. No refunds are offered -- no matter the reason. If circumstances change, you're simply out of luck. Membership costs also increase each year, unless you were one of the early members "grandfathered in" at a lower rate. Many long-term members now pay significantly more each year for less value. Classes & Instructors Treehouse advertises over 50 weekly classes, but don't be fooled by the number -- not all of them are good. The best hours (7:30, 8:30, 9:30 AM) are competitive, and members often settle for mediocre classes because management refuses to replace underperforming instructors, even after repeated complaints. While there are still a few excellent classes and instructors, these classes are often full and there's not enough equipment to go around. Weight-training classes often run out of weights, gliders, or bands. Kettlebells are claimed long before class starts. Much of the equipment is damaged due to poor storage and lack of maintenance. Treehouse would benefit greatly from a class review system, allowing members to rate instructors and share feedback transparently. Management & Recent Changes In the past two months, Treehouse dismissed its Group Fitness Manager -- who was also one of the gym's most beloved and talented instructors. She taught over a dozen classes weekly and was a major reason many members stayed. Her removal has caused widespread frustration, and the classes replacing hers have been noticeably lower quality. Facilities & Sauna Misrepresentation Treehouse recently added a sauna in the women's locker room, but members should be aware that it is not a red light therapy sauna, despite what several member services staff claim during tours. The lights are simply red-colored bulbs and do not provide any of the proven benefits of true red light therapy. Additionally, the women's sauna temperature is consistently around 150°F, which is lukewarm at best. This defeats the purpose of a sauna and fails to provide its expected health benefits. I've personally requested that the temperature be increased to at least 200°F, but my request -- like many others -- has been ignored. Gym Etiquette & Environment Another persistent problem is gym etiquette -- particularly from members who "reserve" multiple machines for circuit training by leaving towels or personal items. With limited equipment, this creates tension and frustration for others trying to work out. Management has done little to address this issue. Leadership Concerns Management The biggest concern, however, lies with Treehouse's general manager, Erica. She consistently avoids member feedback and shows little concern for the gym or its community. Complaints go unanswered, problems remain unresolved, and her lack of involvement is noticeable. The gym's cleanliness, organization, and morale have all declined under her leadership. It's clear that Erica does not care about Treehouse or its members -- and the results show. Equipment is dusty, maintenance is inconsistent, and staff accountability appears low. Hiring practices also raise concerns of favoritism and nepotism, as roles often go to friends or acquaintances rather than qualified applicants. Overall: Treehouse still has potential -- the facility is beautiful, and a few instructors are outstanding. But poor management, declining quality, and rising costs have stripped away what once made it a premium gym. I would strongly recommend delaying becoming a member until Erica is replaced as manager, and classes are reorganized and updated. Clean, welcoming and SO many great classes to choose from! Also a daycare and a really nice locker room where you can get cleaned up and ready for the day after sweating your face off. There's even vanities where you can blow dry your hair and put makeup on. (I read some reviews saying it was outdated, I don't know what people expect. The counters are granite, not laminate; get over yourself.) I was in town for a couple of weeks for the holidays and didn't want to loose the progress I'd made at the gym back home, so I called Treehouse based on a recommendation. They were happy to give me a short term pass while I was in town! They even let me come one day for free to make sure I liked it first! Liberty in the membership office was so friendly. I loved her the moment I heard her voice on the phone. Julie is an excellent teacher who kicks your butt with love. She's very encouraging and good at adapting workouts if you aren't as advanced. I took 3 different classes with her. I think "MetCon" circuit training was my favorite. Mary Lynn is not only an amazing instructor who motivates and pushes you, but you get a motivational-therapy-pep-talk at the end which, personally, brought me to tears in both classes I took from her. "Not your Mamas Pilates" introduced me to muscles I didn't know I had. "50/50" was a nice balance of weights and cardio. Loved the kick boxing moves! Amber's up beat "High Fitness" class felt like a cross between cheerleading and musical theater dance. She called it "old school aerobics". The choreography is repetitive enough that you can pick it up pretty easily, and if not, it's no big deal. It's fun and I felt it. Even my arms felt it! For those who don't like working out, this might be a fun way to start. Lisa taught dance club. I personally didn't like how loud the music was and how fast the moves were. I couldn't pick them up and therefore didn't feel "the burn" as much. BUT it's super popular and lots of ppl love that class because it feels like you're in a dance club. Go with some girlfriends and just have fun! I'm really bummed I have to go home now. There are still a handful of classes I haven't tried yet and I wish I could!!! read more

First and foremost I would like to inform all of you that swimming in the pool at treehouse gave me a rash and the management refused to do anything about it and blamed it on me saying I must have gotten it elsewhere! Even though it seems nice at first glance a ton of the equipment and even the locker rooms are in painful need of a update due to them looking like stuff from 2008! Even places like 24 hour fitness have more up to date equipment! The only reason why anyone goes to treehouse is because it's nearby! It costs more than going to some strip clubs and smells ten times worse! On top of that the management is a bunch of assholes when you try to cancel your membership! The people who run this place just want as much of your money as they can get with giving you as little as possible! They hire minors and give them very high responsibilities but pay them what's almost nothing above minimum wage and treat them like shit making the service at the gym shit! I honestly don't blame the employees especially because all the Draper moms at tree house treat them like shit too. Not to mention all the electrical stuff around the gym was done terribly so a lot of sockets and plugs just don't work at all! You could get a better quality workout next door at the k mart! read more

Best classes and instructors. They work you hard and know what they are talking about. Rather than just a handful of classes they have four different class areas with different classes all the time. I'm seen my strength improve dramatically since I've joined. It's also the only place where my kids don't complain about going to kids care. They have separate sections for older and younger kids. Rather than just putting them in front of a TV, they play sports, do crafts, and keep the kids engaged. read more

I donated a kidney in Feb 2022 after a six year journey to recover from PTSD, depression, injuries, weight gain, high blood pressure, and COVID. The classes , the pool, and the equipment were stellar, but even more, the outstanding instructors helped me get fit, lose weight, and reconnect with people. Draper, UT: Oh, what do I say about the location that has caused me so much physical pain? (Literally, as some of the best workouts I have ever had have been at this location). When I lived here in Draper, I would frequent Treehouse on a nearly daily basis. Though I no long live in the city (or state for that matter), I visit the gym with my parents, who have been long term members, whenever I am in town. Treehouse is chock full of excellent fitness classes. A perennial favorite are Gabe's Tabata and Kickboxing classes. This gym is also where I took and thoroughly enjoyed my first barre class. Treehouse has loads of amenities for its members. There are separate male and female locker rooms, each filled with products like shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, deodorant, cotton balls, Q-tips, lotion, etc., that are free to use. The gym also provides bathrobes, wash clothes, and hair dryers as well. Each locker room comes with a shower area, hot tub, and steam room. The showers are always clean and I adore their steam room. It is fantastic to relax in after a particularly strenuous workout and the eucalyptus spray provided is great for clearing up any possible stuffiness. As for the actual gym, there are machines of every kind on the second floor, including some new ones that were added last year. Some of machines are a little older (yet still fully functional) and I have come across one that was not in full working order. I have also found a dirty machine that had a piece of gum stuck to it for a couple days in a row. I think the gym would benefit from a daily cleaning of the machines as the rest of the workout areas are very clean. Of course, one also has access to sanitizing wipes to wipe down each machine before and after each workout so it is not a particularly big deal. The staff at Treehouse is fantastic and match, and even exceed, my expectations. I do think the clientele can be a bit off putting. Draper is generally an affluent area and has some of the entitled clients who act prickly. Nonetheless, the behavior of clients is not within Treehouse's control and certainly is not a reflection of their establishment, which generally fosters a community feel. I will continue to come to this gym whenever I am in town. If I ever move back to Draper, you can bet that I will be visiting this gym every day. read more

Treehouse had this removed from google, so I'll post it here: Signed up for the free week trial while seeking a change from my current gym. One of the staff members on my introduction day called Asians "orientals" and talked about how much better the national parks are now they they can't come to the country. She was kind and apologetic when I said something about the use of this term, but the sentiment of the national parks statement still left me feeling a little sour. The next day I sat and listened to old men talk to each other about how bad The previous president was, how they were having affairs, and their divorces before I entered the sauna (the sauna was the only reason I was interested in a membership) there I found a feces covered towel that had been left by an older gentleman. I kicked it away, he reentered the sauna, broke distincing code, and sat down like nothing happened. Plus, the locker rooms feel straight outta 2008. Plenty of towels though! read more

This place began as a very high end, well equipped, full service athletic club. It was a special treat to Draper and Utah. It had clean locker rooms, fountains in front, artwork, personal trainers and family swim team. Today, it is more of a high school football training gym in the afternoons and collection of old, broken down spin bikes (they truly broken, try riding several to see that the flywheels are all loose). The swimming pool has a problem with the termostat and it is broken or too hot/cold several times a week, and often closed. The hot tub, steam shower are always closed and getting readjusted. The classes are more simple and the old activities and programs no longer exist. The current place is decorated with IKEA instead of high end decoeur. And if you are a member for 20 years and take a break due to surgery, they want a $500 reinitiation fee. Bring back the old Treehouse! read more

I've been coming here for years. I loved it when my kids were very young, because I trusted the childcare and they enjoyed the pool in the summer. It's been really going downhill though. The equipment is old. Stuff is constantly breaking down. There's not a lot of workout space. The free weight area is often over crowded when I'm there. In the last year there has been this massive influx of teenagers working out upstairs who leave their dirty towels everywhere, break the equipment, goof around, and disrespect other people working out around them. There are no managers to be found that ever do anything about it. Cleanliness is not what it used to be. The pool is dirty. With all of this being said, it's very over priced. It seems like the people that own this place now just don't care. I think they used to be under different management that actually did care. read more

Most expensive gym in town. Old old equipment that is not cleaned by the staff standing around on their phones. Staff that is not customer service oriented. The exception is the day care. The day care staff and option to drop our kids off while working out is why we have a membership. As soon as Vasa has Kid Care again, we're out. People just gather here for social hour. read more

I did a week trial here and I agree with the other reviewers about the dated equipment and the place feeling and looking like a rev center. Everything seems old and worn out. Floors look filthy and need to be redone. Bathrooms look like they were from the early 90's. The whole place just needs a revamp as well as their equipment (I did hear trey are getting new treadmills in the near future). However, the vibe is super friendly and the kids club is excellent! But like another reviewer mentioned, the pricing is just too high for the facility and there is no middle ground for families with less kids. My family of four would end up paying the same as a family of 10. If the pricing could be better I might join just for the stellar kids care. read more

Something tells me that the other reviews on this site are scripted and/or written by employees. I had a less than steller experience at this club. Aside from the fact that it is substantially more expensive than any other club in the area, the equipment is subpar and out dated. The tube Tv's that they provide for you to watch wihile you work out are a joke. The audio terminals are all broken. There are some great amenities. But they are over shadowed by the terrible service. When you pay this much, you dont expect to be told that you cannot bring your cell phone in the facility in a condesending fashion. I wasnt even using it. There are so many restrictions that you feel that you're doing something wrong every where you go. I tried for 2 years. I've been at this gym for almost 2 months after being at Vasa most recently. It's huge, has a ton of equipment and some awesome classes. I do the strength classes, abs, and spin classes and really enjoy them all - the instructors are awesome and very personable. My initial draw to this gym was their childcare services. The teachers at the day care have been awesome and I feel very comfortable leaving my two little kids in the day care. They have a great check in system so kids don't get lost and plan fun activities for them. The facility is really nice, I never have trouble finding equipment or space to use. At previous gyms I've gone to, everything feels cramped and often hard to get the machines you want to use. Treehouse is really clean. They have tons of wipes to use and offer clean towels for their patrons. The lockeroom is huge with a large shower space, complimentary robes, lotions, hair dryers, etc. While it is more expensive than other local gyms, it's definitely worth it! Very fancy and VERY expensive. You're paying more for the "amenities" than the exercise. Apparently you get free lockers, towels, robes, body wash and lotion, hair dryers, etc. I'd rather pay less and bring my own stuff. The pool is okay but I can't imagine swimming there in the winter. I didn't feel like there was very much exercise equipment - it was smaller than I expected. For the two of us it would have cost $150 a month for a membership here. I would rather be fat forever. Conveniently nestled near the base of the Wasatch Mountains and South Mountain lies a fortress that will make any hercules, herculette, or any family of herculi (see what I did there? Does that even make sense?) feel like they've just bathed in a pool of a million dollars. I'm talking Treehouse baby. Am I walking in to go shopping for some pants that have been bedazzled to death or for a shirt that is busier than the gridlock of LA or NY? Who cares. Treehouse has a little clothing store inside that for if some reason you thought gyms should sell high end clothes, they do. Who needs malls or a clothing store when you can just go shopping after you've moved and shaked or ran in place to a fitness class? Answer, not you after your Treehouse visit. Treehouse is more a family friendly center that caters to having a lot of things for everyone rather than focusing solely on physique like your Golds or 24's. If you have kids that are ticking you off and you want to dump them on the basketball court, bring it. Treehouse can accommodate. Swimming pool? I can confirm in the summer they have it, Winter, I'm no gambling man but they may bubble wrap it. Kids activites/camps. Bingo. How about racquetball/squash? Yep. Have you ever played? You should. Lock yourself into a room where you can just annihilate a little rubber ball and follow a few simple rules. Great way to let your economic frustration out. If you're worried about pampering your "ever so deserving" self, lets address that. Free weights, machines, yoga/pilates/dance aerobic/light weight training classes, personal trainers and a chiropractor. They've got it on lock. Whether you want get jacked up on a pre workout, pack you meals with protein, and meticulously form your masculine muscles to try and bump your self up to an XL T Shirt, you can. Perhaps you're all about trimming down to show off every curve of that bodacious bod to fit into Miss Vickies new swimsuit or maybe even you're going try and bag a chick or dude, they've got your little selfish self covered. Perhaps the most pleasant difference from you traditional gym is the locker room. Now, I can't tell you about women's locker room BUT here's what the men are working with... Free locker use, clean rooms, separate showers, soaps/shampoos/conditioners/lotions, a little nook with a TV just in case you want to hang out where sweaty naked men may be changing. Oh they even have a hair dryers. When I had my locks of love I think I spent close to 6 1/2 hours just blow drying my hair because I could. Yeah, I'm that cool. Memberships and day passes will cost you a little more here, but you get what you pay for I suppose. However I can't justify giving this a 5 star rating. I love this gym! Everything is the absolute best! The variety of classes are better than anywhere and the teachers know their stuff. The daycare and kids club are amazing. The staff and trainers are awesome. The pool and locker rooms are top notch. You can even check your kids into the daycare and have lunch at the Juice Tree (don't let the name scare you, they have a full menu of yumminess, not just drinks) or get a pedicure or spa treatment or lounge by the pool. Moms need this gym in the summer for your sanity! Don't let the price scare you away. I pay less for a membership with daycare here (up to 2 1/2 hours a day, 7 days a week) than I would for a 2x week class for my son at a kids program at Gymboree or the like. He loves the staff and always has such a fun time and I get my workout and free time. read more

Amazing club from top to bottom!! My 4 kids (age 7 down to 1) all looove the kids club. Never a single tear at drop off. The staff genuinely cares for and invests in the kiddos. I love hat they keep them busy and active. The group classes are top notch! From the instructors to the equipment, you couldn't ask for anything more. This athletic club is more than a place to workout. It's a great family atmosphere where the fellow members become like family! Highly recommend!! read more

It comes as no surprise that this place was voted best athletic club in Utah for 2009. I spent a month here while on a fitness retreat, and I have now becomed spoiled and am now looking for another gym back home in Los Angeles (currently a 24 hr fitness member). The entire staff is very helpful, considerate, and knowledgeable. All the trainers are genuinely happy to do their jobs, the class instructors will show you different ways to modify an exercise if you cannot do what they are doing. The people who work out here are also very nice and will greet you hello even if they don't know you. The lockers are very clean and well kept with towels and other amenities that you might need, including soap, shampoo, conditioner, shaving cream, and disposable razors. There are a ton of classes for every kind of workout you would want, a great pool, a sauna and steam room in the locker room, a full sized basketball court, racquetball and squash courts, kids zone for the kids, and an on site chiropractic doctor available. Oh and you can join on a month to month membership - no contract required. There is so much more I can say about this place, but it would be better if you experienced it for yourself. read more

Came here to explore the place for a potential new gym membership. The rest of the reviews were pretty spot on. The equipment was outdated, the gym facility was small, and the locker rooms were super nice. If this is a place you want to come take your kids and be part of a club, then this is the place for you. However, the price does not justify the outdated gym equipment and the area size. Take your money to 24 hour around the corner, much larger and all their equipment has been replaced over the past year. read more

This gym was awesome, I was visiting from out of town and great experience. First of all this is one of the cleanest gym I've ever been in and the staff was great. They had a good variety of equipment, pool, nice basket court..etc!!! One of the best features was the men's locker room it was like walking into a spa...can't wait to come back! read more

My husband has been a member and I recently had the pleasure of using the gym daily for two weeks and was amazed. We have a second home in Utah and I plan to frequent Treehouse each and every time I'm in town. My family and I love this gym! We are here 6-7 days a week and love everything about it! Our 3 kids love the daycare and it gives us a nice break away. They have great gym equipment and classes, the locker rooms are always extremely clean and we love the steam room and hot tub that are inside the locker rooms. This gym brings me happiness everyday and if you are looking for a gym, this is the one! read more

Member services employee Kristi was great. Her manager - blows a lot of smoke. I wanted to join the gym for a year. Enjoyed the complimentary pass. BEWARE **** initiation fees are a sham! I'm a financial analyst for a fortune 4 company. Initiation fees are just a way to generate income, at the consumers expense and you get nothing. Typing your info into a computer does not cost $150. Come on. The manager, Merna (?) refused to waive the initiation fee. Let's see, generate 12 months of membership due revenue, or NO membership revenue because you won't waive a $150 fee. Treehouse....you need a new membership manager!! No wonder the parking lot is often empty! Go to a different gym that costs half the price. Too many gyms and not enough people. read more

Beware..... my 17 year old son informed me that Treehouse had him sign a contract and wanted me to sign a liability form. I went in to ask them to refund his membership fees and sign up costs, as I was not willing to sign the liability form, nor did we agree to the contract. After speaking to the account rep and informing her that a 17 year old cannot sign a legal contract, the general manager was called in, and immediately was on defense becoming extremely unprofessional, not willing to do anything regarding this. Unfortunately this will have to go the legal route, which seems overboard for 214.00. After investigating the story goes further. I went to treehouse website to email someone higher up in the food chain about this matter, and making sure I was dealing with the right person last night. Found out why the general manager was on edge right away. This Lauren girl texting my son to sign for me using a different email then his, is actually her daughter which works at treehouse as a salesperson. HMMMMMMMMMMMM Now it all ties together. read more

I have been coming here for 7 years. I really like the facility. The group fitness classes are awesome and the group fitness instructors are some of the best in the entire state. Sure it is more expensive but I believe I receive what I am paying for. I have choices, but would never leave because of the group fitness instructors and the great classes. My only wish is they would open just a half hour earlier in the morning and stop opening at 8am on every holiday on the calendar. read more

Treehouse is awesome. It's so nice to be able to get an awesome workout without having to wait for machines or feeling like you can't have your own space. They have plenty of equipment and not to mention awesome classes. The locker room is also very inviting with plenty of clean hot towels, plenty of showers with complimentary shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Or you can relax in the awesome hot tub or steam room located within the locker rooms. I've never been more satisfied after a long workout. read more

I like the locker room facilities including towels, deodorant, etc. The child care is nice and helps justify the price. I think it is overpriced compared to Lifetime fitness that is less than 5 miles away. They are cheaper and have much nicer equipment and facilities. They raised the prices another 10% this year making it quite a bit more expensive at the Treehouse than Lifetime, over $160 for a family. There is no comparison between the luxury of Lifetime compared to Treehouse, yet Treehouse costs about 20% more. They only have 2 flat bench presses and limited benches throughout. Certain times of the day are very crowded and it is hard to get a bench to workout on. read more
