I have contacted Elmtree/Elizabeth Mackey WEEKLY - last time she responded, she assured me that my deposit check would be in the mail within the week...that was the second week of JULY. I do not live in florida, i was there receiving medical treatment, and this business has blatantly violated it's rental agreement -- mind you, I'm in my mid-twenties, have expressed to Elmtree/Elizabeth Mackey that I was in florida for medical purposes/that I've had to undergo chemotherapy, and I AM STILL OUT $1200... do not do not DO NOT get scammed like I did... will be following up with palm beach co. police dept. and will do whatever else to get the $1200 back. I have been receiving treatment for complex post traumatic stress disorder and the games that elm tree realty has been playing with me has put me on a mental rollercoaster. I don't think they care that I need MY DEPOSIT BACK for VERY SERIOUS purposes. It's URGENT. Mackey will not return any of my phone calls, emails, texts, etc.,. I believe that Icon Realty was involved in hacking my bank account. I leased an apartment in the heart of las olas/Fort Lauderdale from December 2016, from Atlantic loft llc. I agreed to pay a 2 month security deposit of $2400 as well as first, last and security (pretty standard) got my key, etcétera. After 2 different companies handling our property, ICON Realty came in January 2020 and revamped property by implementing a ***online payment service ***** aka , a way to get into your bank account. I questioned who this is and why I had to use this system to pay, not only to be replied with "It is our new system and you have to use it, you must pay rent this way or consult your attorney" As I went ahead and used it but decided to not renew my upcoming ending lease of 3/30/20. I emailed, texted and explain that I would not be renewing the lease because not only I don't trust the payment system, I had a very difficult time communicating with Benjamin (who by the way runs the whole thing). He ignored all my calls and the ones he replied, he did very rudely. I promptly moved out on schedule and handed him the keys along with my original lease agreement. He took the keys and said that He did not have a refund and I would need to wait 30 days to receive one on the mail. Now 30 days later. My bank account has been HACKED and bank investigated the multiple charges leading back to that January rent payment. I have been getting random withdrawals from different wiring entities totaling over 1k so far. Due to covid19, I can not yet file a claim in court. And the reason I am writing this is to WARN tenants and landlords about companies like this! I am attaching the refund check I just received. What a joke! See you in court.
