Every time I decide to give this place a chance again I am reminded why I tend to avoid downtown Turlock all together. The awful old women who work here will spend their entire shift following around customers who don't have blonde hair and blue eyes. It doesn't even seem to be a wealth thing, just plain racism. It genuinely looks like they do Not want your money if you're a shade past eggshell. My melanin challenged boyfriend did Not get the same treatment my sister and I did. It's honestly pathetic that they act the way they do considering nothing in there is worth glancing twice at. It's a fun and interesting shop, something like a museum with the way the different rooms are decorated. However the rooms are very small, so when a large, odd looking woman is hovering behind you in every room you enter making sure you aren't shoving 10 dollar mason jars with the Michaels stickers still on them down your pants, it makes it Quite difficult to enjoy. It's almost as if they'd prefer you steal or break something than actually pay for it. I mean I can never tell if i'm being followed or chased to the register. If you can get past that though, it's a nice stop for window shopping! Unfortunately, there's not much there that's genuinely worth the price if you know anything about antiques or the world at all. You can find the same items, in much better condition, at most other thrift and real antique stores in the area! read more

Based off the fact that the owner doesn't take accountability to any of these negative reviews about racism here. I don't see my review being responded to or read. I am furious and disgusted by the way my family and I were treated at Treasure Hunters. The moment we walked in, an employee -- maybe the owner -- literally ran into the store after us, greeting us but clearly looked uneasy watching us like we were doing something wrong as we continued to walk in. She didn't do that to anyone else walking in, just us. We still tried to give the place a chance and looked around, but things just kept getting worse. My mom, who is handicapped, asked to use the restroom and was told to go to the Jack-in-the-Box across the street because their bathroom "wasn't for public use." So she went through the trouble of walking all the way there and back -- only for us to see that same employee letting a white woman right into the store bathroom minutes later. That's not a coincidence. That's discrimination. We are Mexican, and the message was loud and clear: we weren't welcome. It's disgusting and unacceptable. As much as we used to like this store, we'll never go back -- and honestly, anyone who isn't white should think twice before supporting a business that treats people this way. I was introduced to this store by my pastors granddaughter who was my best friend and even had another friend from the church work here before. We have never experienced this type of behavior here and never in a million years did I think we would. I will never spend my money here again and regret all the money I have spent here in the past. So much for being "church people who don't judge." The hypocrisy speaks for itself. read more

I absolutely love this place. I love the way it's set up in discreet little rooms that all have their own themes. When you think antique shop you may think of something that is disorganized or overwhelming and this is NOT that. It's so easy to walk around and peruse and find the most beautiful things. I've bought multiple pieces from here before. The staff is absolutely lovely ! Super helpful and easy to talk to. And treasure hunters is an apt name. It really feels like you can find some real gems at this place, it is wonderfully curated. I've recommended this place to all my friends. read more

I am a casino memorabilia collector and Treasure Hunters has just become the place to go to for casino chips, etc., in the Central Valley. They even have high dollar Casino Plaques from Chinese Gambling ships! A lot of the 1,500 casino chips that Treasure Hunters has for sale, are from closed casinos! read more

The place here is unique and well kept, they have a theme for every room. It also smells really good in there, lollll.. but it's a real cool place to go explore. The only thing is that the prices there could be a bit expensive. Places like the Main Street antiques have similar things and more affordable. So it's cool yah, But a bit pricey.... read more

I came in there with my friend and I felt so discriminated especially because we are people of color they follow and harp on you like if you are doing something wrong. This is probably the best organized of the antique stores in Turlock. They have a vast and varried selection of antiques and new items well displayed. There are some exceptionally nice pieces here, definitely worth a look. While I personally don't mind some new or newer collectables and knick-knacks mixed with the vintage items, there is a few too many newer items in the mix for me. However as I mentioned they do have some very nice items here, and I will no doubt be back. read more

Treasure Hunters is an elegant antique shop that offers a variety of treasures for everyone. Their furniture and knick-knacks are reasonably priced, with the exception to a few pieces that are a bit pricier, like a small round claw-foot kitchen/dinning room table. The tall young guy and lady were extremely down-to-earth and super friendly which made the experience all that much better today. Definitely will be coming back to Treasure Hunters! read more

It really seems like this place doesn't want to make money. My daughter and her boyfriend (who I also consider my family) went in here to browse and possibly buy a piece for their bedroom. As soon as they walked in the door, an employee began following my daughter's boyfriend around the store like he was already guilty of something just because his skin wasn't white. I've been into this store before and I've never found the employees to be very friendly or overly helpful. I've also read the other reviews and it seems to me that the owners of this place have no problem racially profiling or showing prejudice towards customers who don't look rich and white enough to be in their establishment, in fact they likely encourage their employees to do it. The sad fact is, my "white" daughter and her "black" boyfriend both have money, but his skin wasn't white enough to shop there apparently. So Treasure Hunters lost yet another customer, actually multiple customers because none of my family or friends will be patronizing this establishment after today. This place has 3 stars, you'd think they would take that as a hint and change how they do business. read more

I have to say. I read a few reviews about this place and I can tell you the negative reviews are probably from people having a bad day. Don't listen to that. They don't racially profile nor do they discriminate against people who look like they don't have money. As soon as I walked in they greeted me with a big smile and I explained what I was looking for and they found it and gave me a great deal. The owner was the rudest person I have ever met. There is a way to explain something and there is a way to belittle your customers out of the store. I just wanted some help and was spoke to like I didn't matter and I was beneath the owner of the store. Don't purchase their skinny Christmas trees. My friends and I spent quite a bit of money this past Saturday Dec 1 2018. I bought one of the three tall skinny Christmas trees undecorated for $129.00. I guess I didn't look it close but that night I went to decorate it and first off the top half of the lights wouldn't come on until it warmed up probably 15 minutes and then I started decorating it and found that several of the lights are burned out and one at the bottom even missing. Then to top it off I'm in Walmart today and the identical tree is brand new for $59. Yes I'm embarrassed I let myself get taken advantage of but I still want to share. I called the store and they stand by their policy that all sales are final. I said I understand that but the tree is defective and then I told them how I felt taken advantage of that I paid over twice as much. But they still wouldn't take it back. I visited this place with hopes of finding something nice for my wife this Christmas and they didn't disappoint. I wanted to keep the item there on "layaway" so I could pickup the item Christmas eve as it was incredibly large and obvious. Unfortunately I was turned down saying "that's not for sale" when asking why there wasn't a tag or something the desk lady then responded "it was for sale, but it was expensive." I assumed it was because I was taken for a poor person or something judgemental as I had just gotten off of work and looked a little rough. Money really wasn't the issue for me. Never asked the price. Just knew I wanted it and would have it. I think the lady heard layaway (I was offering to pay for it in full and leave it there) and dismissed me entirely. I really liked this place but I will never return there again based on my experience. read more
