I am very disappointed with my dealings with Treasure Coast Solar out of Stuart. Let me say first that Justin and his crew did a good job of removing my passive solar panels, at what I felt was a reasonable price, so I could have a new roof installed, and then putting them back up. But in the course of this there was a problem. I tried to work out a reasonable and fair and cheap solution with Justin, but he hurled accusations at me and refused to accept my compromise. I did not want to have to write this review. I am not interested in hurting a local small businessman. But he has left me no choice. On Dec. 11 Justin and his crew removed the solar panels. When he was leaving watched as he flipped off a switch that he said would stop the flow of water to the solar panels -which were no longer there - but would allow the pump to circulate water through the pool. After he flipped the switch, he left. He now claims that he checked the circulation before leaving. But I was standing right there, and he did not check anything after flipping the switch. Well at the point the motor was running, so I just left it. Upon returning home later that day I discovered that a pipe to the pump had burst, and the pump bearings had burned out. I called Justin to ask if something he had done had caused this. He vehemently denied that he could have caused the problem and claimed that it was totally unrelated to the work he had done. I was skeptical, especially since the 2-year-old pump was operating fine before Justin had done his work. He did offer to install a new pump - FOR $1,000 - which made me even more suspicious. Now I wonder if this could have been part of a scam to create more work for himself. At any rate, I did not want him touching my equipment after this, other than to re-attach the solar panels. So I went about the business of buying a new pump, attached valve, pipes, seals and glues and adhesives to repair the pump, and have the new roof installed. Installing a pump is really a no-brainer. I have done it several times in the past. But when I finished installing it. I saw that it was not circulating the water. Justin was scheduled to reinstall the solar panels the next day and said he would look at it. He did not come, but sent someone in his place. But before he arrived, I had the thought to flip the switch I had seen him shut off, and the pump began circulating strongly. Now I was convinced that it was his flipping of the switch - probably the wrong switch - which destroyed my old pump and caused me the expense, time and labor of installing a new one. I let the weekend pass before confronting Justin with this, and again he denied his involvement. He questioned why I had waited almost a month to tell him about this (which was not true), and threw out a bunch of other accusations about why didn't I have him check it, and how little profit he made on my job. All the while I tried to remain calm and offered him a very simple and generous solution. I was only trying to get him to refund to me a small portion of what the problem cost me as an acknowledgement that he might have done something wrong. But he still denied it and wanted to look at it first. There was really nothing for him to see, because the new pump had been installed and was running fine, but I agreed and made an appointment for him to come by. Instead he called and said he could not make it that day and asked of the next day would be fine. I did not hear from him the next day, so I can only assume he is playing games with me.
