Omg very bad experience bad service. I got fixed my car July 2025 spend about $ 700. After 6 months later I got same problem with my car. I went to get fixed it. They fixed the car after 2 days but charged another $ 200 dollars. Front desk said part is under warranty but have to pay the repair bill. So same part they have to replace. So, I was on my way to work in my truck and boom!!!!! Lost all all power and when shifting through the gears, I had no drive response at all. After panicking and trying to figure out a solution I remembered driving by TRC all time on Topanga and thought it would be a good option. Called up and Ron the owner answered right away, I explained my situation and he was able to give me a ballpark price which made me feel good about his knowledge. Has the truck towed to the shop that day and Ron called me once it arrived to go over the issues and options available. I was given a reasonable timeline and promised a status update once they started to tear down the transmission. Ron did follow up and let me know the extent of the damage and the parts needed to repair the issues. I agreed and his team went right to work and started to repair my baby. A few days later I was called and told it was done and ready to be picked up, and I couldn't have been happier. Ron took time to go over the repair and asked me to come back in 2 weeks to make sure everything was ok and the repair was up to his standards. The truck is driving and shifting better than new, and as you can see by the pics, this isn't your normal grocery getter. I brought in my 2017 Chevy Colorado. This make model and year is notorious for transmission problems. The transmission failed and I brought it to TRC. I spoke to the owner Ron and he gave me a reasonable quote to rebuild the transmission. It ended up taking a bit longer than he forecasted. Ron did not want to give me the truck back until he got the transmission dialed in just right. It was worth the wait. The transmission never operated as smoothly as when Ron was finished with it. Crooks of the higher caliber. Called them on a Tuesday because my car was clunking when put into reverse and was told to bring it on in, they could take a look at it tomorrow. Brought it in 8am the next morning, Wednesday, and went all day and heard nothing about them looking at it or a time frame. Called them Thursday morning to get an update and was told it wasn't a transmission problem, it was the motor mounts and they'd have an estimate for me by the end of the day. Never got a call from them. Friday, I called and they said they were short staffed and would have an estimate for me by the end of the day. I asked them which mounts needed to be replaced, because I looked at my records and I had the replaced just 2 years ago. They told me they'd have to put it back up on the rack and call me back. They never did. Waited till Monday and went TO the shop to talk to them. They told me they'd have an estimate for me in an hour, but it is 2 mounts and shouldn't be more than $500, I said call me when you have an estimate and an answer for which mounts need replacement. They never did. So, went back to the shop at 5PM, and asked my husband to go with me because the shop owner, Ron, was talking me in circles and I cry when I get frustrated. Got there and they had it up on a rack working on it. Without ANY authorization or estimate. I told them they need to give me my car, I did NOT authorize any repairs and hadn't even been given an estimate! They said they had already replaced 2 of the 5 mounts and to just take my car with the new parts. Looked under the hood myself before I left and they had left my air box/filter loose, I put it back on myself and drove it to my regular mechanic to be checked out. read more

They are very short staffed currently like most places are right now, but communication was superb and I was willing to accommodate them by waiting for about a week due to them being honest with their situation (overloaded not enough workers). I got my issue diagnosed and fixed (bad passenger side axle) for a fair price and Ron hasn't let me down yet (been here twice, first time for transmission rebuild). If you have an issue with your car, this place will give you an honest quote from what I've experienced so far. Ivanka, the lady at the desk is also super kind! She does gets super busy with calls, running around to cars, etc. But as long as you give her a moment (don't have an attitude while you wait, in the service industry acting like a prick doesn't get you anywhere) she'll be there to help you with superb customer service! read more

Nice to have a honest transmission business locally. I was looking into buying a used BMW a few years back but it had a small transmission leak so I took it to a couple different shops near the place I was going to buy it from to find out how much it would cost for the repair both wouldn't give me an estimate and said I'd have to leave the car for a few days and if it would probably require a new front seal on the transmission and the estimated cost would probably better about $1,400. I was just about ready to decline buying the car but decided I would take it to one more shop which was TRC they immediately put it on the lift look at it and told me it was just an O-ring were the linkage went into the tranny and that it would just require a regular transmission fluid change in the installation of a new o-ring I I walked out of there paying less than $200 and never had a problem with the transmission for the following 5 years that I own the car read more

I took my '95 Ford Windstar in to get an estimate on the transmission. The car was older than dirt, I know, and wanted to see if it needed just maintenance or a rebuild. Also, they were referred to me by my nearby mechanic who has never steered me wrong. The changed out the transmission fluid, but it began leaking immediately. They agreed to look at it and replaced a gasket, but the leaking continued, staining my client's driveway even worse, much to my embarrassment. I took the car back and Ron said they'd done everything they could on it. If they had, it wouldn't leak, is my thought. It had nothing to do with the car and transmission being so old. I like Ron. This was undeniably the worst business I have gone to for any maintenance needed on a car. I went to TRC in March, brought them a transmission and asked if it was possible for them to do the swap to which they replied "of course." I also told them to call me and tell me if there was anything else I needed to provide. 3 WEEKS went by before I heard anything about my car. I finally called them and their response was they were just getting to my car to do the swap. Fast forward to month 2, I brought them several other parts we were waiting to come in. All together I ended up just taking my car home and selling it with half the work done. It seems like this business takes on a lot more than they can handle. I wouldn't go here if you want anything done correctly or quickly. Lastly, Ivanka, the lady that works at the front desk is arguably the rudest person I've ever had to deal with. I disapproved the repair and took my car. Did some search online and wanted give a shot to transmission oil and filter change. Miraculously all of my problems got solved with a simple transmission oil and filter change, under $100. They didn't even mention that the problem could be solved with this. I'll start with the obvious. Professional top notch service at a very reasonable price. That in itself justifies the 5 stars. I originally brought my '66 Mustang (my wife's 60th birthday present) in to have the transmission rebuilt. As this has been a labor of love it didn't take long before I was right back having the rear end rebuilt. The transmission pan developed a small leak and Ron and his guys took care of that immediately. I finally gave up on the piece of crap carburetor that was on the car and replaced it with a new Holley. Followed Holley's advice and purchased a new throttle linkage they recommended which ended up being too long so the carb never reached full throttle. I also had a new kick down cable installed which was installed too tight. Long story short, Ron not only fixed the throttle linkage but adjusted the kick down cable. When I picked the car up he wouldn't charge me. Said he did it as a courtesy! Who does that? TRC does and they have a customer for life. I had TRC rebuild the Trans. on my ford truck years ago and it still working good. So when my BMW Trans. started acting up I thought I'd give TRC a call. First thing I asked the lady on the phone was, " Do they work on BMW transmissions." The answer was yes, so I dropped the car off. Well bottom line is that they had my car for a week before figuring out they could not fix it and was told it had to go to a BMW dealer. It would of been nice if they had told me on the phone, " Hey these cars are to advanced for us and we can't fix them." On picking the car up I noticed the front bumper on the passenger side had damage ( Curb Rash). I pointed it out to Ron the owner and he said, " Not us, must have come in like that." ( But it didn't). But what can you do? I can't prove they did it so now I'm going to have to eat the repairs of the bumper. I took my Ford Explorer in to have the engine and trans mounts replaced. Ron was a great help and very friendly. I needed my car back that evening but I was not able to authorize the work until mid-afternoon. Ron had no problem with this request and through two of his best guys on the job and got it done by 5 pm, with OEM parts. I first had a local Ford dealer take a look at the problem, but they wanted almost twice the money and would need to keep the car overnight. I also took my car into TRC a year ago when I thought my transmission was going out, but Ron just cleaned up the connectors, and I was good to go. I had the transmission [Ford C-6] and transfer case [BW 1345] from my '83 F-250 rebuild here almost exactly 3 years ago. The truck sees extremely minimal use as it is not my daily driver; and with a 7.5 liter engine drinks gas like its going out of style. In those 3 years the truck has put on 500 miles. Recently I have experienced slipping in the transmission, after only 500 miles. I took the truck to a transmission shop which is closer to my new place [Competition Transmission in Canyon Country- which I can recommend!] to be checked out. They informed me that whoever had previously rebuilt the transmission must have been sleeping because they left out the modulator pin. Not that it was the wrong part, failed, or worn. It was completely missing. Due to it being missing the transmission burnt up the intermediate band and 2-3 clutch pack and needed to be rebuilt again. After the new rebuild at Competition Transmission the truck shifts like new. Essentially I wasted about 1200 dollars at TRC Transmissions due to their lack of attention to detail during my rebuilt. read more

My old '64 Pontiac left me stranded one morning when the transmission would only go backwards, not forwards! I was towed to TRC who were awesome. Super friendly and even though they were really busy they took time to look it over and determine that it needed a rebuild. Under a week later they had found the parts (not easy), and rebuilt my transmission. It's my daily driver and has worked flawlessly ever since. When I called TRC Ron the owner answered and told me it would only be $475. That same day I went and dropped of my car he told him of the issue and right off the bat he knew what was wrong. I had to order a new clutch for my baby but he told me to buy it and he would install it which would save me money as he would not have to buy it at all. My buddy and I were traveling to an event in the Chatsworth area when my tranny gave up. We had traveled south from a location near Yosemite, so there were many areas that we could have broke down in, but were fortunate to make it to where we did. As I made a left turn off of Devonshire onto Topanga, the tranny gave up the ghost. The stroke of luck came when I was trying to get off of the road when I pulled into a driveway of a Transmission shop. Yep, it was TRC. They had opened early, we were there at approx. 7:00am, and Ron gave me a quick bid of a total rebuild if that's what it would take. I gave him my cell phone number and his gracious wife Meg loaded up here truck with our gear and she took us to our destination in time to make our appointment and to get on our "guided tour" buses which were to leave at 8:00 am. I was feeling a bit worried about leaving my truck with an unknown repair facility and could have been easily been the victim of a price gouge considering our predicament. I called the shop and was informed that my transmission had indeed been a total loss. This was on a Friday morning. Ron gave me an excellent quote on a total rebuild and I told him to proceed. I was worried about the time frame as He was only open for a few hours on Saturday and closed on Sunday. I needed to be back up to the Sierra foothills near Yosemite first thing on Monday morning for a medical procedure. Ron assured me I would be at the top of the list and that the job would be complete prior to his closing time Saturday afternoon as he had a race to attend with his daughter in Ventura that afternoon. We arrived at the shop Sat. morning as they were stabbing the tranny back into my truck. Now comes the part of the deal I was worried about, getting the repair bill. The bill was very near the earlier which he gave without dropping the tranny. On top of that he reduced the price further by his picking up the sales tax. This shop goes above and beyond customer courtesy, he and his staff show a great deal of caring for his customers. They went the extra mile by taking us to our destination, giving us a more than fair deal on a total rebuild and "squeezing" us in between other customers. Well well It took me to go through five different places to get an HONEST PERSON RON and COMPETENT TOO! Yay!! in Chatsworth at TRC Transmission 10140 Topanga cyn, Chatsworth, CA 91311 818-882-0082 I took this car to the Chevy dealership told us we had to spend $500 to $600 for an axel boot. Then took it to my friend's mechanic that told me to get rid of my car. Next took it to Leon's Transmission in Thousand Oaks and Jacqueline Robinson who sits up front that greets customers and does the payroll told me after the mechanic look at it for 10 minutes oh yeah you need a rebuilt transmission and that will run you a total of $3,600. Next I took it to this place called CRC Transmission in Thousand Oaks some guy Todd who runs that place wanted an outrageous price just to look at the car. So I finally said you know what I looked at the reviews online and said let me give this place a try TRC Transmission in Chatsworth. Ron the owner took it for a test drive with me in the car, plugged in a electronic devise to look for error codes absolutely nothing came up. Then put the car up on the rack up in the air and told me leaky axel seal which I already knew I had. He had his worker replace the axel seal and change the transmission fluid for a total of $342.15 Please Be so Cautious who you take you vehicle to folks.
