This review is a little late so here you go, Alberts worked in my 99 tacoma after bringing it in for a check engine light, stalling, and lack of power. They did a full tune up, cleaned the throttle, put in some new gaskets and back on the road. i expected to pay DOUBLE but left with a more then fair price on the work and parts. they have earned my families business. when my check engine light goes off its a no brainer ALBERTS for sure. I was heading out of town and needed to have my 2019 Lexus UX maixtenance for my road trip. I knew I needed an oil change so with short notice brought it here at 5pm. I was helped immediately with no wait time. The service was efficient and quick. The nice gentleman there, Albert helped me. He explained to me they would also check my car fluids, tires and make sure my car will be in good safe condition for my trip. Before working on anything else, Albert explained to me that my front brakes were at 10% so I had him fix that as well. I did not feel overwhelmed like I have before w other mechanics. Albert and his team are very professional, friendly and knowledgeable. They had my car up and running in a reasonable amount of time. Hard to trust mechanics these days however, you can definitely trust Albert and his team to deliver 100% work on all car maintenance. It's a family owned business so you know these guys aren't here to up-sale you on services you don't need unlike other auto maintenance places you know you'll be getting ripped off. I certainly did not feel that way about Albert's Auto transmission. They provided great experience and I will be bringing my car back for future maintenance. I got recommended to Albert's auto from a good friend of mine when I was looking for breaks for my 2015 Toyota corolla. My first visit was in February of 24 and since then, it has been my go to spot for anything to do with the car. After front brakes, rear and several oil changes, I would highly recommend this place. Albert jr is very knowledgeable and very pleasant to speak with. He clearly explains what the situation is and provides a number of solutions and variety of options. Upon my brake replacement, he recommended to get new tires as well even though they don't' do tires. Point being that he would keep you informed and not trying to upsell or use complex language to confuse the customer. It's a small business with fair pricing and makes you feel at peace. After my rear brake installation, I was hearing some sounds and brought back and the issue was resolved within few hours. They are a busy shop so I usually leave my car before going to work. Access is a little challenging. It's right after the apartment complex and can be very easy to miss. Just get in the median and pull right in the alley. Al Jr. was so helpful. My suspension was making a really concerning sound and I finally decided to take it in. He determined the problem, and had the car back to me same day. Only cost around $650 and the sound was gone. So pleased AND relieved! He was also kind enough to warn me my tires were pretty bald even though they don't do tires. They are comparable to back alley mechanics! 2 transmissions rebuilt by them, both failed! Out over $15K to them and when the transmissions failed within 500 miles of the warranty expiring they give you every excuse in the book for why it did with no accountability! JR and the guys at Albert's Auto took care of my baby. My clutch cable was being held together by a thread, literally. The guys did an inspection, ordered parts, and quickly replaced the old setup. I was looking for a transmission repair shop after my 2001 Accord started slipping and jerking driving down the road. And, my reverse gear didn't really work. Being in the San Fernando Valley, there are a lot of places to choose from. However, there is no other transmission shop I can recommend other than Albert's. I had called prior to gather a fair estimate, and Albert's was $700-$1000 less than other places in the Valley and the Eastern Ventura County area. I brought in my Accord, and in about four days, my car went from slipping all over the place to functioning as if it was new again. Not only was the estimate accurate ($2800 in my case), they clearly explained in detail what was wrong with my transmission and what they were required to do to fix it. Furthermore, they were honest in what the transmission actually needed. I did not need my third and fourth gears rebuilt, but rather a new exchange unit and torque inverter (in the beginning end of the transmission, so to speak.) I did not feel at any point in their services that I was being misled or sold unnecessary services. One thing that I deeply appreciate is that they told me to bring my car back in after 1,000 miles to check reliability of their work, and to change my transmission fluid every 24k miles instead of the factory interval at 30k. They take pride and care in their work, for lack of better terminology. I don't plan on having future transmission problems with this car or any other car I own, but if I do, I at least know which place I will be wheeling into. read more

This guy Albert is a snake and cost us thousands of dollars of money for no reason, don't look at his good reviews because the things he does to people is only apparent months or years down the line and people don't update their reviews. I'll tell you what happen. So we take our old 2002 Toyota Highlander with over 200k miles on it in because we noticed the transmission oil was very dark, because we had never changed it, us not knowing any better we wanted take it somewhere where an expert can tell us what to do. So we found Alberts business on yelp with great reviews, and decided to take it there. When we got there he was very nice, and polite, and seemed like a great guy to work with. He checked our transmission oil, and said "oh my god yes its so dark and smells horrible, you need to flush it out and change it." Us being dummies about the issue were like, "it makes sense, if its dark and smells then we should flush it out and change it." So we said ok please do it, and we came back and got the car a few days later. After we got the car and in about 2 months later the transmission broke, and we took it back to him to replace the whole transmission which cost us thousands of dollars. So we found out later that cars that have not had their transmission oil changed in forever are not suppose to change and flush their transmission oil or else it breaks the transmission, you are only suppose to change and flush your transmission oil if you've done it consistently at the right intervals throughout the time you've owned your car, if you've never changed it, you are definitely not suppose to change it at 200k mark because it will break the transmission, like it broke ours, and we found out that many people know this, and Albert being a transmission expert definitely knew this, but he recommended for us to change it anyway knowing that it would break the transmission, and we would take it back to him to fix, so he would make more money. This guy is a snake in the grass, and a wolf in sheeps clothing, do not trust him. We also had our timing belt and water pump changed, and because our radiator was not working good, he just put in a separate side radiator instead of changing out our old radiator, and told us that this was actually better because the wind blows on it, and it cools the car better, come to find out later our car started overheating all the time, and we didn't know that the issue was this small side radiator he put in our car. We found out later that because the side radiator he put in does not work good at all since it was placed where the cars fans weren't cooling it, and if you're driving day to day on regular streets in hot weather, the wind doesn't cool it either because you're not driving fast enough for the wind to do anything, so our car overheated all the time, until we took it to another mechanic and he took out the side radiator, and changed out our regular radiator and put in a new one, and it has not overheated ever again. This is what should have been done from the beginning instead of putting in a small side radiator. This Albert character is either stupid or a con man, none of which is a good trait in a mechanic, so do yourself a favor and stay away. read more

Due to a personal traumatic experience (a smog guy tried to rip me off -long story) I was quite the skeptic when it came to mechanics. I recently was in need of a mechanic, as my college-aged son is the minimally proud owner of a 2003 Ford Focus that wouldn't start up for him. A friend of mine recommended Albert's Auto Transmission, so I decided to give the shop a try. I learned that Albert's Auto Transmission has been in business for 30+ years and I personally experienced why and how they've been in business for so long. Service was outstanding. Albert Jr and Albert Sr were a pleasure to work with and se habla Espanol! They're bilingual -if you happen to not communicate well in English, just writing extra FYI facts that some Yelpers might find useful, lol. Anyhow, both gentlemen are very clear, upfront and honest about the cost of parts and labor and made sure to consult with me before ordering parts and starting on my kid's car. I appreciate good communication. As they were able to clearly diagnose the problem of needing a new starter motor, change the oil and fix the air conditioner for quite REASONABLE FEE and completed all mentioned repairs overnight! Isn't that amazing ?!? I was impressed. I learned that Albert's Auto also performs smog checks, transmission and engine repair, brake and suspension repairs, electrical diagnostic needs -all these mentioned services for all types of vehicles, which include diesel engines too. Best of all -if your car is stranded locally (within a 5-10 mile radius of the shop), Albert's Auto provides FREE towing service along with repair needs. Do you love FREE stuff too?!? All I can really say is this place is amazing! Albert and his Dad are wonderful people and know they're business better then anyone.

So very disappointed. On a recent visit, my son had bottomed out of my wife's BMW M3. Long story short, I have been a 30 year long client of Albert's. Upon quoting me $3,700 for this job, I asked if he could cut it down, but he said there was no room. I just had to step back and maybe get another quote or two. I got a quote for the same job for $1,000 less, and now I am wondering if I have been getting ripped off all the time. Two months earlier, I spent $2,200 fixing a Ford Escape. I showed the receipt to the mechanic who did my latest job and he told me I was overcharged by around $500. I would highly recommend to get another quote nearby for jobs $500-$1000 and higher. My most recent service here has made me a client for life - I've been getting my oil changes with Jr. For a couple years now and last year I had to have my entire transmission rebuilt and since then its driven like a charm. I am completely shocked and disappointed by my experience here in 2020, I needed to fix my car and they charged me differently once it was time to pay, much more expensive. Initially we had settled that we would pay what we could, my father was good friends with the owner, Albert for many years but they decided to keep the car locked away until we could afford to pay. I took my car in because it had a leak, brakes needed to be repaired and some other work had to he done. By the time I got the estimate of the repairs, it was over $1600 to fix everything. I spent a lot of money and And was assired that everything would be done. I paid for them to fix the leak and it is still leaking until this day. I took my vehicle back to the shop and was given a stupid answer as to why it was leaking. I don't care about the stupid answer because I paid for the leak to stop. They look that in to look at it and couldn't fix it so I paid money for absolutely nothing. I will not be back to this place ever again. I don't understand why people want to mess over other people when they're paying for a service and this is how they pay their bills. They act like they're the only shop on the face of the Earth. People fail to realize there are other businesses that are happy to do the work that they're paid for and will do a good job. I am done. Hands down the best auto shop around, probably in the whole San Fernando valley! Best service, best prices and very good at what they do. Started coming here last year when I really needed help with my car. They were able to find me a used (but fairly new!) engine for my 98 Honda Accord quickly and cheaper than any other place!
