We are so happy that we found Travis to take our family photos this year. He is incredibly approachable and personable, from my first phone call with him to chat about the session, he felt like an old friend. Then at the session, we all had a good time and even our preschooler warmed up to him right away and was exchanging jokes with him. I was pleasantly surprised at the large volume and variety of great shots he was able to capture. We absolutely love these photos. Travis did such a great job capturing our family just as we are. I don't know how to begin. Travis covered our engagement and wedding day sessions and was fabulous! We struck an immediate liking to Travis from our first phone conversation. He is truly a people's person and made us feel comfortable from the get-go and throughout the process. In a field where great photographers are in abundance, genuine people are harder to find. My wife and I can't get over the fact how he knew how tense/shy we were and had the perfect remedy for each moment! The dynamic was as if we were all lifelong friends! Our engagement shoot was in Half Moon Bay @Moss Beach. Our choice and Travis knew the ins-and-out of the area. He led the charge, told us where to go, how to pose, but never stepped over boundaries. This man is amazing if you've never done a shoot; he makes you feel at ease. I remember him telling me, "Bik, I want you to put all your weight on your left leg, it'll make you look taller." When you are 5'6", you need every inch :) but it illustrates his knowledge and infectious personality. A day before the wedding, we grew concerned because our venue offered little "scenic" areas to take photos. The 16th Street Station in Oakland is beaut but just a different type of beauty. Old, rustic abandoned train station filled with graffiti--not everyone's "dream wedding" but ours nonetheless. We had a walk through the day before, and Travis rolled in to scope the scene. An hour later, he told us not to worry that he had several shots that will look wonderful! How refreshing to hear. On the wedding day, he was accommodating to all the moving pieces, the makeup artists, my eight bridesmaids, my mother and mother-in-law, and other family members. He worked in the area and was able to take beautiful shots of my family and me. At the site, he coordinated all the wedding photos with family members, never rushing us but moving it along. He understood the time constraint as the venue had to be "flipped" for the reception. I could see another photographer just losing it! But this man kept his calm and made us feel special. I even clearly remember his nice gesture to go out and grab us food because he knew we had not eaten for hours! What vendor goes out of their way to accommodate us and step beyond regular duties? Travis! Thanks, man, we will never forget that or the Pliny :) Did I mention this man listens? And takes into consideration your interests and values? Thanks a bunch. As you plan a wedding, your mind can start adrift, and you begin to worry about the tiniest details. We knew what we had in Travis, and we knew we were always in good hands. So where do I start... I found Travis Watts Photography through a google search for family photos. We're a blended family with kids in their late teens/early 20's and wanted someone who was patient and creative. (We're not a creative family and have limited ideas in terms of poses, etc. :P). Travis took the time to understand what I was looking for and immediately came up with locations to meet our goals. He was on time for the shoot (actually early) and ready to rock. Travis was also super entertaining which made it all that much easier to relax and enjoy the moment. Took roughly 2 weeks to get the photos back - excellent turnaround time given touch ups needed. Wow - Travis is truly the best! We were looking for someone to capture our baby in his first few months, and Travis was wonderful to work with. He came recommended to us from a friend, and I'm so grateful we found him. Our experience with Travis Watts for professional family pictures was by far the most enjoyable and kid friendly I have ever experienced !! We went out to a location in Palo Alto. The environment was perfect and overall our pictures did not have that "staged" quality at all. Instead our photographs encapsulated who we are as a family (e.g., mom, dad, toddler and school aged child; there were silly goofball giggles, sweet family smiles, and trees with fallen leaves in the background--stunning). We have a sweet 2-year old daughter who needed "encouragement" to focus on the camera, and Travis knew exactly what to do to gain her interest. He was kind, patient and hilarious!! My older daughter who is 5-1/2 was supported by Travis beautifully. Somehow he knew Elsa from Frozen and naturally brought her up during our session. This brought our daughter to laughter--you should see those pictures! Travis also took pictures of my husband and I. This was incredibly meaningful as these were the first pictures professionally taken of the both of us since my husband finished cancer treatment back in January, 2018. These photos were exquisite! As a fellow photographer, it is very challenging to get me to feel comfortable and at ease in front of the camera. Travis is one of the few photographers out there that can make me forget all of the little things I worry about when I am on the other end of the lens. Taking it a step further, he is able to translate this magical skill to all ages and walks of life. My honey and I wanted to take some family photos this year of the two of us and the gang of kiddos (Ages 4, 6 and 8). We booked a holiday mini-session at the beginning of December; cutting it close but that was the day we could get everyone together at the same time. Travis has been photographing our family for over 10 years. We have gone from a family of 8 siblings to 8 siblings with 10 kids. Travis is very capable of organizing our large family photoshoots. Every year we take the "obligatory annual family photo." It is difficult to coordinate two small toddlers, a dog, yourself and your husband, and drag everyone to a cold and wet park in your Sunday best on a chilly winter morning to hopefully capture just one acceptable shot for the Christmas card. With Travis, we not only got "the" shot for the card, but several amazing shots that will last a lifetime. I recently did an engagement photo shoot with Travis, and I have nothing but good things to report. First of all, he was super accommodating in terms of scheduling and shoot location, which was awesome. We had a great phone conversation in advance of the shoot where he really got to know my fiancé and I and encouraged us to come up with creative props and concepts that we could out together during the shoot. Two things to be noted before reading this review. 1. I never give anyone 5 stars. Not even to myself after cooking something amazing. 2. I'm a man writing a review about a photographer..... from my wedding..... Which means he had to be good! Travis has an ability to make you feel comfortable. Even on the most intense and important day of your life. I had a few big worries on my wedding day and the biggest I had was making sure my fiancé, soon to be wife, was as happy and comfortable as possible. After we said "I do" one of the first things she said was "how awesome is travis? He's killin it" I had my eye on the open bar, but after she pointed it out, I couldn't stop watching. My entire family and 150+ guests fell in love with his demeanor, humor and most important.....his professionalism. In all honesty, I thought maybe he's amazing at this part of his job and his actual photos would be crap.....NOPE! He killed that too. Absolute perfection. He captured everything we loved about the venue, he listened to all of our crazy requests for family and wedding party photos, had amazing ideas of his own and he even did the impossible and made me look thin! We did a mini-session with Travis in October. He was fantastic with our boys: 3 year old and 7 months old. He got them to smile and behave for the pictures, which turned out gorgeous.
