The area feels up-and-coming, with small shopping centers popping up, but fair warning: people drive like they're running from Satan. Like they're late for something, so if you're heading north turning into the complex, expect to miss the entrance and loop back. The entrance is NOT obvious. Look near Home Depot. Plenty of parking once you get there. Inside, the office is quiet, clean, and calm, with a reasonable number of people handling various tax and registration business. You check in at a kiosk and get your place in line via text. ***Important note for voters***: there is no kiosk option for voter registration or voter info updates. Don't select "registration." You'll be waiting forever behind people needing BIG THINGS . Instead, grab a voter registration form, fill it out, and then walk straight up to the counter to turn it in. No line. No wait. Don't be scared to do it, either. I only figured this out by selecting "information only" the second time back up to the kiosk and the info lady THEN told me this. There's zero signage explaining any of this, so I would like to save people a lot of time. Once I did it the right way, I was in and out quickly. I went during my lunch break and made it home in time to clock back in. Mission accomplished. Easy visit, efficient staff, and lots of parking. Just wish the voter registration process was explained better upfront.

My parents are moving out of the county and wanted to give me their car so we had to get a title transfer. Took a ticket and probably waited for like 20 min? This was on a Tuesday afternoon, in the middle of the day. Karen is the one who helped us. She was super calm, friendly, and patient. Gave us the papers we needed to fill out, we gave her the papers she needed, and maybe 20-25 min later we were all set. She even asked us some more personal questions to lighten the mood, and upon leaving I had a few unrelated questions to ask her (about a title transfer but for a different vehicle I had), and she happily answered everything and even gave me a little print out of what the estimated taxes might cost. Really appreciated that. Anyway, I recommend this location!

Ended up doing a walk in when they opened at 8:30 and I was there for an hour for a registration renewal. They do have a drive through window for renewals which they said take 3-5 min per car. As I had a bit of a different situation, that wasn't an option. Limited seating, however when you get into the queue they text you your number and then again when your number is up. So if you happen to sit in your car, you'd still be able to run in. The lady who assisted was as confused as I was for what happened but made quick work of getting me situated and out the door in about 10 minutes.

Obviously, that must have been a bazillion years ago because a parking ticket today is $75 in Austin, TX. First, I was shocked to receive a ticket and even more shocked that it cost $75. I pride myself on being a law-abiding citizen. To be honest, I thought I was following the law when I parked. I paid for parking through ATX Parking, so I thought I was good. Here is a lesson you can learn vicariously through me. Even if you are 2 inches past the pole that separates the parking v. no-parking area, you will be fined. You must be "fully" in the parking zone. It is an expensive lesson, but one that will stick with me forever. So please be mindful of signage. Also, no parking areas do not necessarily have to have red marking on the curb. Lesson Learned: The pole signage rules in every case. Usually, I park in the S. Congress public parking garage and get my ticket validated for two hours when I visit the S. Congress area. Back to Public Parking garage I go! Today I went to the Austin Municipal Court because online was backlogged 2-3 weeks. The Austin Municipal Court serves as the judicial branch of the City of Austin, handling Class C misdemeanor cases like parking violations. According to the court officer a parking violation is not a criminal offense and cannot affect your insurance, i.e. non-moving violation. The main courthouse is located at 6800 Burleson Road. The facility appears to be new as it is pristine inside with a security check at the entrance. I had to take a number to wait to have my case reviewed. Overall, the process was painless, and the Austin Municipal Court appears to be well-organized and efficient in processing. I hope never to see this beautiful building again.

At 1340 I called the Precinct again today to ask what was the price to file a Motion, they told me I would get a returned call because they did not have the answer. Now 1900 I have yet to get a call. Now I'm thinking just because the position they hold, they think they can do whatever. I warned them I would be posting everything public because Elgin is known for their ways of whiteness.

Overall, our experience was good…read more Our wedding date was July 3rd (2009), so I called way in advance to make sure that would work out since it was a Friday before a major holiday and we wanted to get married in the early afternoon. This ended up working out fine for Judge Benton Eskew's schedule, so I went ahead and set things up with his secretary. I called back a couple of weeks before the wedding to confirm the date/time just to check, and I nearly passed out (really, at the time I had a heart condition that is now surgically corrected) when the secretary at first said she didn't have it down in her book. But then she checked the Judge's calendar, and our appointment was written down there. So everything was actually okay, it was just a bad scare (yep, that's why 4 stars and not 5). A few days before the wedding my now-husband and I went to get our marriage license. The employee we interacted with was very nice, she made friendly conversation with us while getting everything ready. We were given a funny little book about marriage, which was much more gender-equal than I expected. Our actual wedding went great. The Judge and the other employees were very friendly, and accommodating of the fact that we brought a small group with us. We were surprised that the Judge had a page of bible verses to read out before marrying us ... I realize that might bother others of course, and that's why I'm mentioning it, but it wasn't a big deal to us and probably made our families happy. He also spoke about the rings' symbolic function, etc. From what I'd previously heard about courthouse weddings, I had just been expecting something much more sterile/perfunctory/impersonal than what we got, so I was very happy. We have many great pictures from our ceremony (friends and family took them), when we were only expecting to have a few. When we later got our marriage certificate in the mail we received another happy surprise: it was actually nice to look at! We were planning on displaying it in our home anyway, but we expedited the process since the certificate was so pretty.

There isn't much to say about a government-run facility so I will just lay out the basics. The…read moreguards were really nice and informative. They have a metal detector at the front but it is quite painless and fast! There is barely any parking around the building so it is better for you to find a parking garage or lot nearby and just walk there. The restrooms were clean and all the staff was really friendly. Unfortunately the judge called the jury bystanders in 55 minutes after the initial stated time listed in the hearing letter. That was a bummer ... but then the judge explained why we had to wait so that was nice. Lots of construction nearby so be ready to walk through some dirty/dusty/muddy streets.

She fully explained what was gonna happen, then hooked up 10 of the EKG things to my chest and then had me run on the treadmill with it increasing difficulty and incline every 3 minutes. I was even able to complete the goals in less than 7 minutes, but continued running to 9 minutes and then slow down for a few more minutes. I felt comfortable and understood the procesz.

This small cemetery is pretty much located in the middle of nowhere and completely surrounded by…read morecornfields. It's basically just 50 x 100', but there's still enough space to bury at least a dozen or more. This cemetery is several miles north east of Manor and many of the people buried here were from the early Swedish, German and Danish settlers of the small town of Kimbro. There appears to be about 50 to 60 people buried here. Most of the graves are fromthe early to mid 20th century and the newest occupant was laid to rest here in 2013. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the graveyard itself has been well-maintained over time. There's not a whole lot more to say about this spot so I'll let the photos tell the rest of the story.
