Went here for my birthday meal and everything was great. I ordered the Murghe Makhani, which I was…read moreexpecting to be like the butter chicken I'm normally accustomed to, but it wasn't what I thought it was going to be. However, it was still a good curry and I made sure to get it all down. It was nice and creamy and the chicken was tender. I believe it was about £8 or £9. There is a charge for the poppadams as we later noticed on our bill, I think it was about £1-something. I split an order of rice with my partner to complement our curries and we each ordered a naan. Naans were nicely baked and fluffy. I had some tap water and my partner had a pint of Kingfisher which was about £4. He ordered a balti and said it was tasty, and I could see that he was serious because the entire plate was empty when I looked up. Service was great, the waiters picked up on my foreign-ness and made conversation with us, which I thought was nice. It's always a better dining experience when you have a little chat with your waiters/waitresses. The place wasn't really that busy, but it was only like 7:30 p.m. when we headed out, so maybe it gets a little busier after that.
Holiday Inn Express
I did mention that this place goes under the name of: Holiday Inn Express, and it was changed, but…read moreit has been changed back. There must be a reason. Good friendly staff. Unfortunately, I was served ( I subsequently found out was a new starter), he was really great to deal with, and accommodated my request quite well. As an IHG awards customer, processing my points didn't happen, I had to ring twice, and finally had to ring IHG to get the points added. The room was quite large, a good shower cubicle. Iron and ironing board requested, and the iron was new and clean. No safe I the room. Limited parking outside, but a multi-story across the road, and the token is exchanged in reception for that is shown as paid. Please be aware that are different barriers to go through after 6pm (I think that is the time). I was stuck at the wrong barrier. Breakfast a reasonable selection. Free newspaper, but the they must come after breakfast as the one I picked up was the day before.

I was staying in the Manor House and it was lovely, well decorated and comfortable. I ate in the restaurant that evening which was nice food at a decent price (for a hotel) with their 2 courses for £25. I had steak which meant there was a supplement to pay but it was worth it. I would happily go back there with my wife as there was plenty to do with a gym and swimming pool plus set in lovely grounds.

The family room we got has one full size bed and a pull out couch. It's large with a separate dressing area, desk, television, and the bathroom is nice as well. There's free WiFi too! I have sampled the regular fry-up and can recommend it: a well cooked plateful, ample, with plenty of nuclear-hot tea. I do feel the lack of a veggie fry-up option limits their target demographic unnecessarily, but I guess they're plenty busy enough without encouraging more hungry customers to come streaming through their doors! The staff are pleasant, friendly and seem to have encyclopaedic memories for the detailed orders flung at them by queuefuls of customers. Pretty good all round.

The breakfast special is a meal for even the most heartiest of eaters but dont think it is too good on the cholestrol level. The staff are friendly and food is always servered very quickly, however there is no table numbers or waitress service its just a case of the staff shouting what food is ready so make sure you listen out and be aware of what people came in after because they could take your order. The places itself is very basic with old tables and chairs but the staff do try to make it as presentable as possible.
Stanley View Guest House

However, when I rang the hotel owner to ask for directions, she was really friendly and even stood outside to make sure we found it. The hotel itself was very homely - in fact, almost like someone's house, and I instantly felt at home. Our room was right at the top of the building and we were surprised to discovered that we'd actually been given a suite - not just the bedroom and bathroom, but also 3 other bedrooms, containing a total of 9 beds! It was very bizarre, but the rooms were all clean and comfortable and I would certainly recommend it. It was also good value - £45 for bed and breakfast for two.

The staff is friendly and makes you feel welcome. A small complaint would be no ordinary soap or shampoo in the shower (there is hand soap at least).
