Though we did not speak any Italian, the shop owner was very welcoming and polite! We told him (as best we could) that we were from America and he treated us super kindly. He offered us appetizers (on the house!) so that we could sample true Italian seafood. He sent over grilled shrimp on crusty Italian bread with grilled asparagus, followed by a fritter of sorts which consisted of a ball of extremely tiny fish. The "fritter" is something I wouldn't have considered ordering as eating small fish whole isn't something I'd normally do, but it was good! For our meals, we ordered the fried seafood platter which consisted of calamari, anchovies, and other small fish and crustaceans. Wow. I was blown away! We cleaned the plates! I would also recommend the fried calamari, with shrimp and anchovies - this is how the dish should taste and look like, an almost invisible batter that enhances the flavor instead of covering it. If this is not a 5 star restaurant, I don't know what is. The ambience is nice, the service is friendly and attentive, the pricing is reasonable (but no Amex folks), even when you throw in the wine.
