We absolutely loved our dinner at Trattoria da Alvise! It sits on the water and has an incredible view, with a good breeze--which was more than appreciated during the Italian heat wave! We arrived approx. 20 minutes before our reservation and the kitchen opening, but the waiters still happily seated us and got drinks going. We enjoyed fresh mussels and clams to start, followed by fried calamari and shrimp, spaghetti with clams and a pizza. I had read somewhere that Venice is NOT the place to be ordering pizza, but this may have been the best of our trip. They had a HUGE pizza menu with lots of creative toppings (and names!). I sent a web request three weeks in advance for a lunchtime reservation. This is the response that Erika from the restaurant provided to me via email: "In case of delay of even just one minute we do not guarantee table availability. For any changes or cancellations to be made on the same day of booking it is strongly recommended to do so via WhatsApp on 3462214353, emails are not always read in time. I confirm your reservation Thanks for your cooperation Erika" I replied: "One minute? Really? You may cancel the reservation." The response I received back was: "Luckily we will have a table for reasonable people! I will cancel your booking." Who cares if the food is good or bad? Who cares about the atmosphere? With this level of obnoxious arrogance in service, why would you ever bother spending your money to eat here? This was the most spectacular last meal in Italy I could have hoped for! The pasta was in huge portions, the bread was delicate and heavenly, and the terrace by the water was to die for. I had an absolutely wonderful time- I can't believe we just stumbled upon this place and were lucky to have someone cancel their reservation last minute! read more

Ok this is so good it's impossible! We are thinking ok we each get a pizza and share a small appetizer so we can have room for dessert! When they serve the appetizer which is saluted mussels for €9, we were pretty sure they ordered us at least two orders of mussels because we were two people which would be still good price considering how much mussels on that dish(my photo does NOT do it justice) and they are very fresh and tasty! Pizzas were both really good, with the wine and my mushroom/cheese/local sausage pizza, I was having some serious food coma and can totally fall asleep right there! I finished half of my pizza and had to take the rest home and also no room for dessert that's how full I was to passed that tiramisu!!! -_- At the end when the bill comes, those mussels were €9!!!!! How is that possible??? The bread/cover charge is €6 for two people and all those mussels were €9? Anyway, I might've drink too much and feel like I need to share this with everybody! If you are in the area, you should visit the place! We also had a bottle of veneto wine instead of the original idea which is the Chianti and I kinda hoped I got the Chianti, the bottle we got is too mellow, feels like there's too much water in it. We just arrived in Venice and needed somewhere to eat; luckily this little gem was open!! Very romantic right on the water. The staff was all very friendly. We ordered the Scampi alla busara (not too spicy according to our taste buds! Was perfect) and the Orgasmica pizza... both delish Would recommend. Great service and delicious pizza. It was packed on a Monday night. Our hotel was only a few doors down so we decided to grab a quick bite. The mussels were really fresh and a very huge portion for 9 euro. We also ordered a four cheese pizza with ham to share ... perfect combo. There was a 3 euro coperto - per person fee added to the bill. I learned this is a cover charge to off set for the bread/oil. During our 3 days in Venice, some restaurants did and some did not charged us this fee. Seems option but it will be clearly noted on the menu. Also, a few tables ordered the seafood platter which looked delicious.. saw some prawns etc. I would recommend you try this place. read more

This place was so yummy and has such an amazing view. My husband found this online at last minute and we called to see if we could make a reservation. They were busy but kindly squeezed us in. When we arrived our table was not ready and the staff was so apologetic about it and gave us a free glass of prosecco! It was so overly nice and unnecessary since we didn't mind waiting for out table at all. It was a great perk though! I haven't had the best food in Venice but this meal exceeded my expectation. I didn't love the pizza but the pasta was incredible. Honestly, the food didn't matter that much to me because we had an amazing table at the railing and just loved watching the boats go by. My husband and I were there last night , honestly the food was good what I had. I understand they were busy and we are in Venice but my husband finished his entire meal and they had only brought me my salad we waited and waited and nothing, they never brought me my pasta. I saw our waiter and told him the situation and he told me this is Venice and if I wanted it now to to McDonalds and called me "Stupida" with and hand jester. Turns out he was the owner. If you want my opinion and not be served like you were unwanted; then do not go to this place. 1. It was not according to the covid-19 distance mesures. Tables so cramped, you could eat out of your neighbors plate. As we asked to be seated further they didn't let us choose the table, in case a larger group would come. 2. 3€ tax per person. Way too expensive. 3. The service was unprofessional and rude. They only put us to our table and gave us food. Apart from that there was no service. Didn't ask us for more drinks even though ours were empty pretty early. Then they let us wait for at least 30 minutes to even look at us so we could ask for the bill. We asked to split the bill, the waiter threw us a pen and told us to calculate on our own and then call them when we were done. When we mentionned all of this after paying, they didn't even apologize and told us that we should then just not give them a tip. This cannot happen. Clients should not be treated this way. 3. The food was good. Only reason why i gave this place one star. read more

Delicious, authentic Italian Cuisine in a beautiful setting, alongside the water away from the tourist traps in Venice. Probably one of the best meals I've had in my time in Venice. I sampled a few of the delicious starters and savored the light cheesy gnocchi that literally melted in my mouth. Popped into this sea-front restaurant on a rainy day for pizza and a glass of wine. We were greeted warmly and taken to a table in a reasonably busy room. We had a glass of prosecco each. They were pretty cheap but the wine was barely fizzy. We had pizza- I had four cheese (quattro formaggi) mozzarella, gorgonzola, brie and parmesan. The topping was very generous- perhaps a little too generous as I couldn't finish it! The dough was thin and it was a good pizza. The coperto charge was the largest I've seen in Italy, 3 euros each! This and the flat prosecco means that it is 3 rather than 4 stars. read more

Service was average to below average, no salad plates had to ask for them, my daughters pizza came the last after we were half way through our dinner. Overall average rissotto, steak, pizza and service. The salad was great enjoyed it. Tourist Trap Alert: Food was normal and as expected. However if you show up as a large group (6ppl) and expect to split the bill, they will try and overcharge you. In our case by 50% each of our bills. Be sure to keep a copy of the original total bill. We argued with them and they paid each of us the difference in cash. Be sure to call ahead for a reservation for the dining on their outdoor deck which faces the island of San Michelle. They prefer to take reservations at around 7p or 9 or 9:30p. If you have a late lunch in Venice - go for the later reservation. The mussels and clams were a hit. The penne arrabbiata was also very good. The sea bass was ok - flavor was better with the skin - they filet it for you if you ask. Overall the service was very good and attentive without feeling rushed even though we were an earlier reservation. We had a bottle of Rose (18 euros) that was great in such a warm June evening. This place is great. Personable and friendly and excellent food. The view is great, right on the water and excellent choices for pasta and pizza. My wife is vegan and they made her a pizza that she loved and now can't understand why other can't duplicate it. On top of everything we got into Venice late at night and we asked Renatto for directions. He felt we would have difficulty finding it so he boated us right to the hotels front door. This is an extremely popular eatery, mostly frequented by locals, some tourists. We went here two times on our vacation. Both times it was extremely busy, but we were not turned down. They asked us if we had reservations and when we told them we didn't, they squeezed us in. Everything about this restaurant was great. The location is right on fondamente nove, a major ferry stop for Murano and Burano. They have everything- Pizza, Pasta, main courses, dessert , coffee, drinks. The wait staff was so friendly and helpful, especially the waiter Alvise. We ordered pizza and pasta dishes, all were really great, but the total home run was the grilled fish special for two. It was three whole fish which were from the lagoon and/or Adriatic: bass, sole, and orata, along with scallops, prawns, and grilled vegetables and roasted potatoes. AMAZING. In my opinion the best pizza in town. First night had dinner and ordered the Risotto for two. It was fantastic so we decided to come back next day for lunch and try their pizza. This is an excellent place with a nice location on the water on Fondamente Nove looking on to the lagoon towards the cemetery island. The prices are very reasonable given the waterfront location in Venice. The food we had was excellent. Pizzas and pastas were consistently excellent and green salads were well above the norm. Pizzas were nice and crisp but not hard or overcooked, plenty of topping but not heavy. The people were very friendly as well and service was great. read more

Wow...this place was AWESOME!! We ate here twice or maybe 3 times. I know that I had at least 2 vegetarian pizza's here. It was just around the corner from where we were staying and it was on the water. Scenery was great! The pizza was light and no grease whatsoever, not like the pizza's served in the U.S. The service was great, Renato was very personable...and Nicole (his niece) made a kick butt pizza for me. They are so busy and they do take reservations, but we lucked out each time that they just had a table for two open. If in Venice...dont miss this place..and ask for Renato, he is fun! read more

I have been to Venice 5 times and this is one of my favorites! The pizza is excellent and inexpensive (for Venice). The house wines are very good. Deserts are large and rich. The view is nice and it is far enough away from the crowds so it tends to be quiet and generally no wait for a table. I stop here everytime I am in Venice and will go back. read more

We came over here for the view of the water, but we were not welcomed here. The menu was very extensive, but the service was not nice in any way. The staff at this location was very rude. One of them actually used the F word toward us and called one of us ugly. I don't think I have ever been treated so poorly in my life. These people must make a living on tourists who will never return. They don't want or deserve your money. They could benefit from an anger management program. read more

Family of six across three generations staying around the corner and used this Trattoria three times on an evening and everyone's meal was different and achieved a very high standard. Accommodated us easily each time and Renato was top class with the point of business and giving interesting snippets of the area. Service was very good, but slipped up once and made the traditional recompence, not necessary. Dropped in a couple of times after eating somewhere else and were made welcome. Deliberately not mentioned any specific dishes as having three visits and a different meal each time that's a lot to mention .. but the Viagra Pizza was lovely but did not work on me at 80 yrs. Visit for sure and be pleasantly pleased. The rest of Venice is nice also. read more
