It makes for a beautiful setting with Basilica Palladio as your backdrop. The host is very warm and welcoming. The menu has English descriptions We ordered: Ravioli con fiori di zucchini, stracciatella e pomodorini: It was delicious and they divided into 2 plates as our appetizer. All ingredients fresh and soft bread to clean it all up in the end. Costolette di Agnello con verdure di stagione: These lamb pops were thick and juicy with a very tasty crumb and herb crust. Amazing flavor combinations, bravo. Guancette di Maiale Brasate e pure di patate: Braised pork cheeks with mashed potatoes This was a very flavorful dish as well! The meat just falls apart and when combined with some of the potatoes makes for a delicious mouthful! Finished off with a Tiramisu Everything we tried was perfect. We gave 4 stars due to our server being worth about 2 stars. He was obviously treating us poorly and ignoring us due to the fact that we are Americans. Acting very distant and not helpful. He was very polite and helpful to the Italian families around us. He took their orders before ours, when they sat much later than us and he was very short when dealing with our table. He never checked on our table and we had to order dessert from the busboy. The rest of the serving staff was delightful.

Easy to make same day reservations especially during the weekdays, service was excellent, I prefer to dine inside but as the weather gets warmer they tend to sit you outside and that can be uncomfortable depending the temperature.

How did we live half a mile away from Pigozzo for 6-months and not discover this gem sooner? That's…read morethe weird thing about Italy, I suppose. I'm convinced there are absolutely no zoning laws here -- you can have an amazing wine bar like Pigozzo tucked in between houses, a garden center, and a travel agency and never notice it because it blends right in... Since discovering Pigozzo just a week ago, we've already been back 3-times. It's just that good! They have about 6 wines on draught at all times, €3 per glass. The Malbec and Cabernet I've tried are good, served chilled, but the hands down winner is the Lambrusco. Normally, I'd avoid Lambrusco, thinking it would be too sweet, but theirs is just slightly sweet and fizzy. I love anything with bubbles, so this one is a big win! In case the ridiculously inexpensive (and delicious) wine on tap wasn't enough, they also have a huge deli counter with tons of prepared foods. When you order a glass of wine, they'll ask if you want a little bit to eat, too. If you say yes (for the love, say yes), they bring you an incredible assortment of warm cicchetti, Italian tapas, from behind the case. We've been presented with paella, various meatballs, arancini, calamari, strawberries with sweet cream, and more. Every single thing they've brought us has always been so good. You can also get their prepared foods to go and make a meal of it at home. Plus, their shelves are stocked with Italian necessities such as pasta, bottles of wine, jarred sauces and vegetables, olive oil, etc.

While on our honeymoon and staying in Vicenza, my wife and I had a hard time finding anything open…read moreon a Monday, with most stores and all big tourist sites closed. Restaurants were a bit better, and with some online research we found a couple spots that were (hopefully) open, and if not they were in an area where we'd be able to find *something* open within a short walk. Al Ritrovo was our first choice, and was very close to a stop for the #1 bus, right next to the Duomo, with a nice patio and modern looking interior (it opened in 2013), although we chose the patio on a beautiful evening. They must have been rocking 90s on 9 on Sirius, because Gangster's Paradise was playing when we arrived, followed by the Spice Girls' "Stop", and then "Da Funk" by Daft Punk, which I was very much down with. The kitchen wasn't going to be open for another 20m, so we took a look at their drink list and I picked a bottle of their valpolicella riposa. Wine came out with a glass of salted peanuts to hold us over. The valpolicella was very enjoyable, with slight tannin hit on the front, but with a smooth finish, and warm down the throat thanks to the 15.5% punch of this Venetian wine. I went with the fresh pasta and duck to start, and a signature Vicentini/Venetian dish - salted cod and polenta, or baccala. The pasta and duck were fantastic; the pasta was fresh, just slightly eggy and perfectly cooked. The duck was chopped and also cooked to just the right doneness, being moist enough to not need the sauce to save it. Speaking of which, the cream sauce was used with a light hand, with just enough to evenly coat everything but not eclipsing the pasta or duck. The cod and polenta was a bit disappointing presentation-wise, and was fine on execution, but didn't have the wow factor of the duck. The salt cod was in a creamy sauce but still maintained some of its distinct dried fish texture. The polenta had a slightly different flavour compared to most I've had, but I couldn't quite place it, and it wasn't bad. Could have just been the kind of polenta or a better quality than is available back home, and I just wasn't used to it. Service was attentive and professional. Wherever you're staying in Vicenza, you definitely want to swing by Al Ritrovo for some very well done traditional dishes at this modern restaurant.

They offered a glass of wine with my meal, and it was excellent. It is the first time, I have enjoyed wine with a meal. There were many courses on the menu, but being the typical American, I was just interested in one plate, which was Spaghetti with seafood. It was delicious! I really wanted to dine outside, but all the tables were reserved. I would definitely return and try the other dishes.
