3/21/22 - I have been with House Services for several years when they were bought out by Trash Tech (about 3/4 years ago) After using Trash Tech for several years & many missed pick up's, being lied to. I decided to switch my trash pick up to another provider. I recently paid my quarterly bill for March 1, 2022 thru May 31, 2022 in the amount of $127.30. Having only received two pick up's for this quarter I computed 12 pick up's divided by $127.30 to equal $10.60 per pickup. Surmising I owed Trash Tech for two pickups for the period I figured that I was owed a refund of $106.10. When I called them up to advise that I was changing my service & requested my refund, I was rudely informed that there would be no refund at all because I quit in the middle of the quarter. I am now "out" $106.10 while they just laughed at my request. Short of going to small claims court, (which I may still do) they are robbing me with out holding a gun. I'm hoping that this negative review may prevent 1 - 10 , 30 people to reconsider dealing with Trash Tech as there not customer oriented, in fact don't give a dam about the customer. Our trash wasn't picked up on Monday and I called to see if they could come back out to pick it up. The woman I spoke with said she will have someone call me back tomorrow. I never received the call, so I called them Wednesday morning. After being on hold for 20 minutes, there was no manager available. She said one will give me a call back,. I asked when as I'm not confident someone will call me back and she wasn't able to provide an ETA. This is my second issue with Trash Tech not picking up our trash or recycling. They increased their rates significantly due to the gas prices and their customer service is not helpful or nice. They are condescending and don't seem to want to help. read more

I attempted to set service up a month ahead of time and was told that everything was in place. A week prior to service starting I was contacted and told that my address did not exist. They had recorded my address incorrectly. I was assured that it had been fixed. On the date service was supposed to start no trash/recycle cans no welcome packet, no service. This required another call. After a half hour on the phone I was told the issue was resolved. After two weeks, still no cans, service, etc. Another half hour call and they still had not taken care of the incorrect address issue. I was told it was fixed (yet again) and that service would start immediately and I would get cans in two weeks. Two weeks later, no cans but a large bill for the incorrect address (ironically addressed to my correct address). One more half hour phone call and I was told a correct bill would be sent. Two more weeks pass-no cans and no bill. I call once more and was told that as for the cans the work order was in and they could not tell me when I would receive them. As for the bill, they would email it to me. Two weeks more, no cans, no bill (I checked spam as well)-nothing. After a month I call once more to cancel service. I am asked what it would take to make me happy. I said cans and my bill. At the end of the conversation I was told there was a work order in, they had no clue when I would get my cans and my email address was confirmed. I checked spam mail once more just on the off chance and there is an overdue notice from them dated from last week. Horrible customer service. I guess they are 1) not allowed, 2) unable or 3) unwilling to call the department responsible for delivering cans to find out an approximate date that I would receive them. The other thing I do not understand is why ask me what would make things better and then do absolutely nothing. read more

If one star is the lowest I guess that's what it is. Go elsewhere! A few years ago they stopped doing Monday and Thursday yet charge the same price for once per week and they continually have added gas taxes their billing department must be run by a bunch of clowns. They skip your house then say they'll come next day, which means next week. Sometimes they don't even empty all the trash from the can and leave things like wrapped twigs without taking them. Horrible -- they missed over 20 pickups in our community and have not communicated at all. When calling, you have to wait over 20 minutes and all they say is that a truck will be out but they can't say when. When they do say when, it doesn't happen. They said that because of staffing issues, they can't perform services as paid for in advance! Their prices are HIGH and offer discounts for senior citizens but don't honor the discounts in billing. Didn't have a 0 rating so I had to put a 1. I called trash tech 3 months ago to get a new trash can because mine is cracked and order a recycling can at the same time. I have called them 7 times since then and get the run around. Still no cans. I received the bill for then next 3 month period and they have raised their rates again. It is now $164. Absolutely the worse thrash company ever. I would cancel them but I live off a main road on a dirt lane. Most other company's would make me take the can to the road. Unfortunately one (1) is the lowest rating available. This company is not dependable at all. there have been several times that this company failed to show up during the week. There are at least 2 times over the summer this year they failed to show up for more that two (2) weeks in a row. totally unacceptable. I finally had to cancel the service. I didn't even get an apology for the inconvenience. Well it's now been 2 months since I cancelled the service and they still haven't picked up the trash cans. I rarely post negative about a business but this is my story: Trash Tech has not picked up my trash in three weeks after several weeks of phone calls. First, I was told the previous driver quit and the new driver must have missed the stop. They would send someone back out to get my trash. Three days go by and no one shows up. I call again and leave several messages and talk to customer service. Customer service tells me that someone will be out that day and they have until 8pm or 8:30pm to pick it up. I stated okay. Long story short the next scheduled weekly pick up comes and goes NOTHING. So I call again and the cycle continues two more times. I have called and called customer service says they are sorry and blames it on dispatch but gives me a credit which I thank them but say I just want my garbage picked up. Yesterday I get forwarded to dispatch a nice woman named Christy and she calls a driver and leaves a message for the driver to pick up my trash. I come home from work IT IS STILL NOT PICKED UP. I have never had a trash company like this in my life and I have used a multitide of trash companies in my lifetime in different states. DO NOT USE. read more

This place is a joke. Worst trash pickup service. Has nothing to do with covid. Plan and simple they suck .

They missed me on pick up day, which is Friday morning. I called late Friday and was told they were running behind but promised they'd be by. Never came. I called Monday morning and was promised they'd be by. Never came. This went on all week. I called every day till Thursday and each day was promised they were coming and never did. I signed up for service three weeks ago and they have skipped both my trash and recycling EVERY week. I have called several times and given them many chances to correct the mistake. We ended up with Trash Tech after they bought out our previous provider and took over the contract. (This is in Cecil County, Maryland.) The previous service provider was a small business, and obviously cared about the work she was doing. Trash Tech? Not so much. For us, there were two reasons to terminate our service with Trash Tech: 1 - The level of service we received kept going down, while the price for that service kept going up. Example 1 - Recycling pickup dropped from once per week, to once every two weeks. Example 2 - On more than one occasion, we had to call customer service because blowing garbage was found throughout the neighborhood, or broken glass was left at the pickup sites. They responded, but only after several people called to complain. Every few months, we'd get a notice that the cost of the service was bumping up. $5 here. $10 there. It adds up. 2 - They weren't really recycling. Routinely, on recycling pickup days, only one truck would be dispatched to the neighborhood (the garbage truck). They would dump the contents of the separated recyclables and the trash into the same bin, which would then go into the garbage truck at the same time. Pickups were during the early morning hours, so it wouldn't be something you'd notice unless you were awake at the time they came by. So... we were doing all the work of separating materials, washing them, and then STORING THEM for (up to) two weeks, just to have them end up with the rest of the trash. We wrote the company to complain about what we saw. Trash Tech assured us that there had to be some kind of misunderstanding. They said they ALWAYS send two trucks; one for garbage, and one for recyclables. To paraphrase their response: "It must have be a problem with the dispatchers. We'll look into it right away!" Yeah... so... the trucks are tracked. There's no way they didn't know this was happening. Needless to say, the behavior persisted. We took video and photos of everything from the pickup team commingling materials, to leaving garbage behind on the street (or in the yard). Then we called Trash Tech, and shared some of the evidence of what was happening at the curb. Then we cancelled our service. We're now with Patriot, and are much happier for it. read more

Another week with no pick up. When you try and call the office to get some answers you get rude customer service by the only one to seem to be working in the office, Joanne. I have already canceled my services for these reasons but i was told i paid till the end of September but i am not receiving any pick up services, trash or recycle. i would never recommend this company to anyone. read more

Very poor customer service! Trash was not picked up on Thursday. Understandable...it was bad. No pick up Friday. No pick up Saturday. I called this morning. It was 20 minutes before someone actually answered! I asked when my trash would be picked up and I was told not until Thursday. So, I asked if there would be a credit for the week of no service. This company is very frustrating. Our trash service was always picked up on Fridays. We noticed our neighbors were getting picked up on Tuesdays so we called to add that service. They told us it wasn't available... so we canceled. Fast forward to our last week of service. We put our trash out on Friday and they skipped us. When we called to ask why they said our last pick up was Tuesday. We have never had a pick up on Tuesday so that didn't make any sense. The woman who picked up the phone was so rude and wouldn't let me get a word in without raising her voice. So happy we canceled. read more

Trash Tech only gets 1 STAR because it is not possible to give them anything less than that. For the record, I have made every attempt at giving this company a chance to work out whatever issues that they are having. I have only been with this company for less than a year. In that short amount of time, I have called them at a minimum of three times a month. They are only scheduled once a week, or four times a month. I have to call, usually with no response, because they never show up to pick up the trash or recycling on the scheduled days, which so happens to be Friday. And of course, by the time I realize that they haven't shown up again, it is the end of the day and no one is there to answer the phone until Monday. This has gone on for 9 months. The only reason that I have held out this long is because they are the only company in this area that I can find that does trash pickup on Fridays. The others pick up on Tuesdays for some reason. I have attempted for months to leave a message for a manager to call me back with no luck whatsoever. It is obvious that the issue is at the top with "management", or lack thereof, and has worked its way down. Good luck if you plan to make the mistake of using this company. Horrible service! We switched our services to Trash Tech thinking we would save some money. They promptly dropped off our new trash cans the very next day after we called. Unfortunately, two weeks later they still have yet to pick up our trash! We've called several times and were promised the pick-up would happen the next day. Our trash is still sitting out on the curb awaiting pick-up. The smell and the maggots are so bad, I cannot bring myself to move the trash cans. Beware of switching to this company. I would like other consumers to be aware that they are unreliable as a trash hauler & their customer service is terrible & unethical . I have only used them for 1 year . I thought they would represent a good cost saving , but their lack of accountability for trash collection & the need for multiple phone calls to get any issues addressed is FRUSTRATING. At one point this summer they did not collect trash for almost 3 weeks due to road detours . Multiple phone calls to customer service were useless. When I asked to speak to mgmt , she wouldn't talk to me until my 6th phone call that evening. She was too busy & having a bad day ...a bad day is 19 days without trash collection!! We had no collection this fall one week due to a driver accident . they said they had no one to drive his truck while he was out . This past week with a snow storm & holiday they said we were simply not going to have service , " it wasn't their fault they couldn't come out on a different day, they were too busy" . When I asked for a refund of payment for missed week & the inconvenience of having to haul my own trash & recycling away , they said NO . The ABSOLUTE WORST trash company EVER! If i could give them NEGATIVE STARS i definitely would!! We had an unforeseen death in the family, and had to clean out some things from our home. In my grief, I forgot to call to let them know that I had a few bags extra. The morning of trash pickup, they beat on my door so hard my windows rattled. They pounded like they were the police. I went to the door, and the fat, older man started screaming and cursing at me that he wasn't taking taking my trash. I was appalled at the way he spoke to me! After all, I'm a PAYING CUSTOMER! I wrote a letter and called the company, but they never responded or answered the telephone. I am now looking for a new company. They are too expensive, rude, disrespectful, and lazy! read more

Avoid this company at all costs. We started our service in Elkton in June 2017 and cancelled after the 4th week they didn't take our trash. It is January 26, 2018 and we have been waiting 3 weeks for them to take our trash cans back. They keep telling us they will come pick them up but never do. Horrible company. read more

My neighbors started with Trash Tech and one easy phone call later, we signed up for their service. It's less expensive, allows one free bulk trash pick up per month, and the transfer station fees won't increase unless their's increases. Plus, their cans are nice and new and the recycling is in the same type of can as the trash, so no animals can access the recycling. Of course I am STILL awaiting my refund from Republic Services, which has increased our quarterly payments EVERY SINGLE QUARTER SINCE WE MOVED HERE 3.5 YEARS AGO, AND charges $25 for 1 bulk trash pick up. Trash Tech recently purchased our existing trash removal company (Suburban Waste Services) and the service has declined since. Trash Tech has missed pickups and has refused to take numerous trash items - something the predecessor company never did. And when I called regarding the missed pickups and asked for a credit, they refused. Also, while the predecessor company charged its fees in arrears (service through Mar 31 was due Apr 1), Trash Tech quickly converted its billing to prepaid (service through Jun 30 was due Apr 1). That resulted in a double billing for its clients. And since clients now have to pay in advance, clients cannot hold back any $ for Trash Tech's poor service. How convenient for Trash Tech. Now, as of Jun 26, 2017, Trash Tech announced that they are reducing the number of their trash pickups from 2 times per week to 1 time per week but still charging the same rate. That's a 50% decline in service but no decrease in their charge. Needless to say, I am searching for a new trash service company and suggest others do the same. Buyer beware of Trash Tech. read more

Trash Tech did not pick my trash up on Monday. I called Tuesday and lady said she would lock into it. She never asked for a contact number for me so she could call me back. Lady was also not at all pleasant. I called again Wednesday and same rude lady answered. She said I'm scheduled for Thursday but if I hadn't called, I would have never known. I said thank you to the rude lady and she hung up on me. Not a friendly or reliable company. Horrible service! This company took our payment for the year with the agreement of Tues and Friday trash pickup. Halfway through the year they changed the pickup schedule to Tuesday only with NO notice or refunds. We paid for pickup two days a week. They should provide a refund for the change to one day a week.
