We decided to just accept it because really we only needed about as much space as was left in the dumpster and even at $90 it was far cheaper than anyone else. And the thing was already in our driveway and we had set up with friends to come over and help so what could we do? Then my husband stopped and paid them. A few months later we get an overdue bill. My husband called and explained that we already paid. They confirmed that we did. But another two months later we get ANOTHER overdue bill. So once again we had to call an argue that we already paid. I don't know that this wasn't a simply billing error but couple that with the 3/4 full dumpster and not even a 1/2 price discount I couldn't help but feel completely take advantage of and swindled. So we called around to find a trash hauler, but most were commercial grade with a minimum size really more suited for a construction site, than for a residential property. We found this company after a long search, and made an appointment, but then they wanted to reschedule because of severe storms. They were worried about trampling mud in the house. (Odd when told them twice 90% was in the garage?) I guess they were trying to be considerate. Two days later, the truck arrived 17 minutes late, and they got to work. The large appliances went first, then the carpet and finally the boxes with junk. The truck looked too big when it first arrived, but our stuff nearly filled it! And best of all, it took less than 30 minutes to do. Then I got the bill... I anticipated $150-285 based on a verbal estimate, but it actually totaled $429 and change ...OMG! I shared with them that figure wasn't even remotely close to the one given over the phone, which the driver promptly deflected. (They even argued with me the different costs associated with each fill percentage.) I then tied to negotiate, but only succeeded in reducing it $29. (I was afraid if I pushed the issue, the load would be dumped, so I capitulated.) The bill amount, the dissension, and the reschedule (because my area didn't get much rainfall), plus being late are the reasons why they are receiving a two star rating. I guess I am old school where your word is your bond, but apparently this value no longer exists today. My wife and I are pleased the garage is now empty, but NOT pleased about the cost, especially when the recycling plant is just 10 minutes down the road and charges $25/ ton.
