At some point it was clear at the end to provide a place for end of life care. To help a person be clean, cared for free of pain in the transition from life to death. He was there about a week and was clean and made comfortable for what their ability was. The rooms large, solid and private with other areas & break rooms for family to gather. 24 hours a day. Just want to say that the negative reviews seem to be based on people not understanding what hospice is. It is for end of life after doctors are unable to do anything more for them and they are near dying. I am sorry they had confusion at that time, but they should not detract from the facility. Some also seemed to expect the hospice to make arrangements for funeral homes, burials or cremations for them. No. When a family member is sick or at end of life YOU need to make arrangements for that. So I think some reviews were unreasonable in medical type expectations and also cremation and funeral type arrangements which they do not do and people should not expect them to make recommendations as potential conflict of interests. But, thank you to all the staff there and their kindness & care which is a tough situation & time.

(The primary caretaker Mr Clyde Tayor was employed by a similar agency earlier and we "followed" him to Help at Home when he switched employers) The agency phone number is 708-248-7776 and fax is 708-248-6607. The supervisor's name is Miss LLOYD. All occurances occured at the residence of EVERETT and JAMES BREI at the address listed above. ALL OCCURANCES WERE WITNESSED VIA WEB CAMERAS BY THE COMPLAINANT AND ADDITIONAL WITNESS. Only 2 years worth of complaints are being included for brevity, although to the best of my knowledge similar events occured each year/every time that the primary caretaker took any days off. 1. Although the primary caretaker advised his immediate supervisor of his planned time off well in advance, the agency repeatedly failed to assign a replacement. The only way we would find out about this is when NO ONE WOULD SHOW UP TO CARE FOR AND SUPERVISE MY ELDERLY FATHER. This was witnessed via web camera by myself and my sister JoAnn Berge, who has access to the cameras. This occured during at least 2018, 2019 2020. 2. Failure of a caretaker to show up placed my elderly father at GREAT RISK. Since he could not walk unassisted he was automatically placed at risk of falling and injuring himself. He also had dementia, and disorientation without supervision created a potentially emergent situation. THE ONLY REASON POLICE OR PARAMEDICS WERE NOT CALLED IS BECAUSE WE COULD MONITOR THE SITUATION IN REAL TIME AND BECAUSE THE AGENCY ASSURED US THAT HELP WAS BEING SENT. 3. Whenever the above situation would arise, almost predictably when Mr. Taylor was away, The supervisor would claim she did not have knowledge her employee was away (why not?) OR claim that the replacement employee was either running late or called in sick. There was no explanation given regarding why an alternate was not found OR that the family was NOT advised that there was a delay. Again, the potential risk that this placed on EVERETT BREI is incalculable. 4. These incidents were not reported prior to this time out of FEAR THAT SERVICES TO EVERETT BREI WOULD BE TERMINATED. 5. Although my father passed away on 2-8-21, this was the day the the caretaker Clyde Taylor (or replacement) was due to be at the family home. Again, I found out the NO ONE WAS COMING only because I called in advance to verify availablity. To add insult to this grevious loss, it was then that we were informed that his regular caretaker CLYDE TAYLOR "no longer was willing to care for" my father. There was no warning and no reason given for this.

We needed a group that was local and we could not have asked for a better group of people to help us. From the director to the nurses to the caretakers, music therapist and pastor, they were so supportive and helped us every step of the way. They visited when we asked and helped us through the process. I highly recommend this caring, compassionate group if You are in need for care of a loved one. I had a week to find care for my father, which the other companies I interviewed either needed minimum 2 weeks notice or we just didn't jive. But with ascent home care, they were ready, willing and accommodating! The process with my dad was overwhelming and on his discharge date I couldn't be there. Ascent took the reigns and kept me updated with everything from the time they arrived at rehab to when they were on their way to my dads to when they arrived home. Hey made the process easy. The care workers were amazing and patient with my father and kept me updated with everything going on wth him and supplies he needed. The Dr's gave him 7-10 days to live. He lived for more than 2 months with excellent care from Ascent. Our caretaker, Ariel, was an amazing angel that gave my dear Father-In-Law respect, comfort and friendship. He bathed and fed him and gave him massages. He fit right in with our family. He made a very sad time in our lives bearable and actually enjoyable at times. The owners of Ascent have huge hearts too and are hands on. I highly recommend them for home health care.

Care team (nurses, aides, and massage therapist) NEVER showed up when they said they would or just didn't show up. My sister's medications were delivered more often late than on time. My sister went through three weekends with withdrawal symptoms because medication was not ordered when needed. The nurses BLAMED Lisa for not giving enough notice that refills were needed. The nursing staff also repeatedly skipped dressing changes on her blistering feet. It was so painful to see her treated this way. I did not want to disturb her care as far as medical equipment (bed, walker, wheelchair, commode) but finally had to end this awful care. It was truly shameful to treat any patient this way and even worse for end of life care. I changed the care to Apex. They were all wonderful. They provided all the care, medications, and equipment that was needed. (Lisa passed away in July)
