It is carried by: Sheetz, Turkey Hill, Downtown News, Wegmans, Giant, Karns, Weis, some other places like sunoco, 7-eleven, exxon or uni-mart. Calling itself a newspaper is a stretch, but who can resist dropping 35 cents on this? It focuses mainly on West Hanover Twp, Lower Pacton Twp and Susquehanna Twp. It has excellent reviews for local yard sales and flea markets and also church bake sales and ethnic food fests. Saint Ann's Byzantine on Locust Lane is a great one to check out in July. The Paxton Herald also focuses on local city politics, gossip and general hear-say. It always seems to stick up for people who were wronged and embarrasses people who cheat or steal. But some of the things it prints are totally Biased and off base: It generally reviews the catholic schools and churches in a negative light. But it does have a lot of information about community events in Harrisburg, Penbrook, Highspire, Steelton, Middletown, Paxtang, Colonial Park, Union Deposit, Hummlestown, Dauphin, Mechanicsburg, Camp Hill, New Cumberland, Enola, Wormlysburg and Lemoyne.

I would not contribute to this TV station. They have become another liberal sounding board of Trump…read morehate. When I was a young man PBS did not take sides with politics like they do now. I have watched several of there so called news programs and they typically like to invite people who are of the liberal persuasion. It is very sad to see this happening so often in the United States. If you turn to CNN or MSNBC it is all about hating the people you do not agree. It is a rare time when PBS presents ALL the facts and information of politically based news anymore. So sad. Save your money and donate it somewhere else.

I had always thought the name "2nd & Charles" referred to some downtown street corner of a big city…read morelike Boston. As it turned out, the name actually comes from "second-hand" (as in buybacks and trade-ins), and the first name of its founder, Charles Anderson. The chain has 40 locations across 18 states and is owned by its parent company, Book-A-Million, which was founded by Charles father, Clyde. It's bitter sweet that it moved from the now-dismantled Harrisburg East Mall to its current location. The business survived, but I like the old setting better, where it was part of a shopping mall and you could just stroll into the store during a general window-shopping trip. The new location is standalone, right across from the county courthouse (are the prisons still there?), where Toys "R" Us used to be. It has to be a dedicated trip. The new store is much larger, however. It has all kinds of books, including rare titles and collectibles. There are also gifts, CDs, musical instruments, and even LEGO bricks sold by weight. Heck, they even buy back old LEGO sets! Jumping on the "blind box" bandwagon, they now sell "Mystery Boxes" as well. It's a fantastic spot to treasure-hunt and/or sell items from your weekend clean-outs. It's great to see a unique business like this continue to thrive.

A huge store located in the former Toys R Us, with a tremendous selection of kids' books, records, and toys across all categories. There's even a free Mother's Day card creation event this Saturday for children. Plenty of staff around to answer questions. I need to bring in my husband's barely used hardcover books for reselling.
