First they are kind and offer you an attractive package to hook you up, but on the day of the move they told me that they had extra items that were not on the list, and when I checked if they were, later they told me that the list does not matter, that is Just an estimate, and they ended up charging me 1800 dll more if I wanted them to bring my things. Then what do you do? if you already have to deliver the apartment and you need to move to start working? Then they said they would arrive the next day but again they lied. When you call customer service they simply ignore you, they tell you that they don't have the information and that you should wait. If you're considering movers in the Houston area, learn from my mistake: do not use Transit Moving & Storage. We received multiple quotes when planning our move. I had one structured myself (Pods + Two Men and a Truck) that would've cost between $5,600-$7,000. Transit came in initially at $8,600 - already higher - but the salesman insisted he could "sharpen the pencil" and win our business. After three separate video walk-throughs and detailed discussions about what we were packing ourselves, they sent us a final "binding" quote of $6,800. We agreed, thinking the estimate was solid since they'd seen everything multiple times. Here's where things went wrong: On moving day, they showed up with one truck instead of the two they promised. After loading the first truck with most of our belongings, the supervisor told me we were "over on space" and forced me to sign for an additional 1,000 cubic feet at $1.50/ft - magically bringing the bill right back up to $8,600, the original number I had already rejected. When I disputed it, I was told I had to pay 60% immediately or they wouldn't move my stuff at all. They took my furniture and left me with no choice. To make matters worse, they later refused to even deliver my belongings until I signed that I accepted the inflated total and paid in full. That's not a moving service - that's holding property hostage. I called the salesman and office repeatedly to resolve this in good faith, but no one would take accountability for their "mistake." A professional mover should not miss an estimate by 40% after three walk-throughs. It feels clear that the lowball quote was intentional just to secure the job. Bottom line: This company misleads customers with bait-and-switch pricing, then holds your belongings hostage until you pay more. Probably the worst service I've experienced thus far. To help my mom relocate from the Seattle area to the Austin area I solicited the help of these guys to move her things. My first clue that this was not going to go smoothly was that the quote changed to a higher rate on site even after providing them with the inventory list of items. We ended up leaving one thing behind so that we could maintain the same pricing. I agreed to the pricing and the items were picked up on 12/27 with a delivery date of 1/4 to Austin. Week after week goes by and we're reaching out for updates only to be told that they are trying to locate a truck and driver. After 1/4 has come and gone we were never given a direct ETA but was told the same thing over and over again. My question regarding this is how do you have a moving company with no available trucks to finish the job??? So here it is 1/29/25 and the delivery finally arrives with my mom's things and the driver is demanding cash payment from my mom. WTH!!! I have funded this whole move and paid deposit as well as an additional 60% of the total cost via debit card and now all of a sudden debit is not acceptable??? My mom had to 3-way call me and the person in charge so that we could figure out the final payment. I ended up using zelle to send the driver the remaining amount (which in my opinion should have been discounted after waiting over a month for our things). Also another question, why are we paying the driver directly, instead of the driver getting the money from the employer??? Cherry on top, they broke my mom's dresser in transit and do you think we're going to get refunded anything??? With the way things have went, I highly doubt it. We paid much more than the original estimate: the company gives you an original estimate based on an inventory of furniture. We removed several large items of furniture from the move but still ended up paying more because the company charges you on cubic feet of volume, which they keep intentionally low in the estimate 2. Items left behind and no walkthrough: The moving crew arrived late, finished late, and was in such a rush by the end that they left a car's worth of items behind that we then had to manage 3. Terrible communication and customer service: We interacted with four distinct individuals throughout the move. It was never clear who was in charge and who would take ownership. Their team did not communicate internally, so we would share information with one when they called, which would then be news to another a week later. And despite persistent complaints, they never made an effort to resolve issues they created. Instead, most conversations resulted in them threatening increased fees because of the nebulous contract they forced us to sign 4. Items arrived almost a week later: There is no effort whatsoever to meet your intended delivery date. Our items arrived almost a week late, and only after persistent nudging on our part and communicating directly with the driver (who is a contractor). This makes planning very difficult. We secured a parking permit for the moving truck from the city for the specific delivery date we intended (at the instruction of Transit Moving), only to then be told by Transit Moving they would not meet that date, so we lost $300+. 5. Hidden shuttling fees: They present a 'shuttling fee' of $1/cubic foot as a potential in the estimate, but really they are counting on it. Despite not advertising this, they perform cross country moves in a semi truck regardless of how many things you have, so they always plan to charge you the shuttling fee. 6. Broken items: Several items arrived broken, scuffed, or otherwise damaged. To top it off, now one of their employees has reached out personally asking for money to bail him out of a personal crisis. This is an update to my earlier review I gave before the full job was completed. Overall disappointing experience due to scheduling error and poor customer service. Transit did not show up on our long scheduled delivery day. After numerous texts and calls, I was finally informed they had rescheduled our move-in 4 days later. They did not inform us that they had rescheduled the day, leaving us hanging. Text inquiries and voice messages were responded to simply as "one sec" or "on it", while never actually receiving any follow up. Furthermore, there was no apology or offer to compensate us for any of our 4 days of additional interim living expenses. Load out went well, very courteous crew and Transit provided free storage. However, move in seemed rushed, crew was rough with many of our items causing chips, gouges, scratches and damage to many items. Further, they did not put drop cloths down, wheeling their dollies right on our new wood floors. And our master bedroom mattress was not loaded, they had to bring that the next day. Lastly, before they would unload, they required us to do a favorable review, which I did based on the move out crew experience. I do not recommend Transit. read more

They also give you estimates by surveying your house via a zoom call. We had to rent an additional uhaul truck because they couldn't fit all our belongings. They state on their website that they are a moving company and not brokers but I couldn't get insurance because they are identified as brokers. DO NOT HIRE THEM!!! Our first cross country move and it was the worst experience! Transit Moving Systems promised more than I believe they are capable of providing to their customers. In the beginning our sales person John was great. He was diligent to provide me as accurate of a quote as he could and locked in a price promising a dedicated 26' truck to ship our possessions. All was good until a few days before our pick up date. After that it was all down hill leading up to our possessions finally arriving later than originally expected. Here are the issues - Pick up date not being confirmed until days before and them wanting to come a day earlier; when would not have been ready. - Packing crew arriving 6 hours late - Packing crew did not have a company truck (Enterprise rental) which meant there were no marks inside for us to verify the true cubic volume our possessions took up in the truck - Our foreman arrived an hour after the loading crew, left with promise to return later which he did not. - Loading crew were nice, but communication was difficult because none spoke English well enough to understand simple requests that items be wrapped better as they were antiques... THIS LEAD TO DAMAGE!! - Loading took until 1am!!! - Our possessions went back to their warehouse where they sat for over a week to get loaded onto a different truck. Not what the sales person had originally promised. - No real communication from Transit on when our stuff would actually ship. We did receive calls every few days saying our stuff was stored and safe. WHICH IT ACTUALLY WAS NOT SAFE CONSIDERING THE AMOUNT OF DAMAGE AND CRUSHED BOXES! - Finally got confirmation our items were on the road. They did make good time crossing the country, but day of delivery the driver refused to pull up to the house because of small tree limbs. His parked location was on the corner one house away and then wanted to charge us for the extra distance. He also had conflicting contract information on the amount that would be charged for the extra distance. - As they brought our items up we started seeing many crushed boxes. We ended up with about 40% of our boxes either crushed or straight torn open. Several antique furniture pieces were broken, our couch had two tears in it and in the crushed boxes WHICH WERE LABELLED FRAGILE AND HAD RED TAPE, were broken and irreplaceable glass items. - Boxes being brought in were once again stacked in a manner in which an already crushed box would get more crushed! - They were to have rebuilt anything that they took apart and when he went to start one bed frame was missing fasteners and he said he would do it for liability. At that point I was so angry that I told him to leave and we would deal with it. All said and done I waited a day to calm down and emailed our sales person about what happened and specifically requested contact information to get this addressed. He has not responded and it has been two weeks. I received a call two days after delivery from customer service and they had no idea what had happened. Which means the sales person did not forward our email and the delivery driver also did not report the damages. The customer service rep said they were escalating this to upper management and someone would reach out. We now sit two weeks later and I have not heard a peep. At this point I have filed a claim and am going to dig in to find more contact information within their company. We did not get one or two items with accidental damage. This company will rip you off. They use extortion like tactics to get you to pay more once they have starteded moving you. The original $4600 quote went to $9600 claiming we didn't give them correct information. How does a company stay in business with these types of practices. Once they finally got the items to us, they wanted even more money and wouldn't unload until we went and got cash. Many items were broke and not replaceable because they were things that mean something since they were my mothers. Can't replace the value of something that is personal to you. Extortion. Just an awful experience. My pregnant wife is in tears right now over how mean a mover is being to her. Jerry is a dishonest sales rep. Transit was not the cheapest, but we selected them because we were quoted the quickest delivery of 3-5 days. After signing the contract, I was then called and told it would be 1-2 weeks. I was told they do not subcontract our their work. When the movers arrived they demanded 3k more money or told me they would leave. Extortion. I had no other options as my family was waiting for me in another city. They were also subcontractors. The movers spent half the time on the phone with their Manager Ariel. It took over 2 weeks to receive our goods. Their customer service team is awful. They rarely pickup the phone, long hold times or you can barely hear/understand them. On the day of the move the driver said his car would not fit on the street, despite it working for everyone else in the neighborhood. He refused to even try. They wanted an additional $1,500 or threatened to put my stuff in storage which would be an additional cost. More extortion. Sub contractors again. They did not accept a check for payment as the pickup movers did and I had to do a wire transfer. The mover demanded to know where the money was every 10 minutes. Wire transfers take an hour to process and we had proof it was in transit. He had my pregnant wife in tears. One of the most rude individuals that I have ever dealt with. The sub contracted employees were friendly, but embarrassed to be working on this guys behalf and apologized to us. Just an awful experience all around. Was extorted for an additional 4.5k. The only reason this company gets a one star rating from me is because nothing lower was available. Transit Moving Systems began by making appts they did not keep. They were very dishonest. They reassured us that all persons handling our move were paid employees of Transit Moving Systems denying they ever hired contract workers. Yet the guys who moved our belongings to TN told us they had been hired off of Craig's List for this move only. We were told the total cubic footage of our belongings would fill their largest moving truck (53 ft) and we would therefore have a "dedicated truck". This meant only our belongings would be on the truck; the truck would be loaded and unloaded only once; and the truck would have only one destination - our new TN home. This too was false. The movers came to pack two days before they were scheduled to come and then they did not come on the day they were scheduled to finish. They packed our things very poorly, loading them onto a small truck, on both dates. Our belongings would therefore be unloaded and reloaded onto the actual moving truck. Then after the moving truck was allegedly on its' way, it reportedly broke down and was taken into a shop with our things on it. Although the truck was supposed to leave the day after us & drive directly to our new house, it took 2.5 wks to arrive. Upon arrival, at least $4000 worth of our belongings were broken or missing. The contract stated I should be reimbursed $.60 per pound, but the company did not weigh our property; it used cubic feet as measurement. They overcharged almost $4000 for the truck, indicating we filled more cubic ft than would even fit into a 53 foot truck. In the end I wanted to be reimbursed at least $10,000 for broken/missing items and overcharges for the truck, and overall failure to abide by their contract. We paid this company over twice that amount for the horrible nightmarish experience. If I could give this company 0 starts I would. This review is for an interstate move. 1. Before pickup, everything was great. Sal - the sales associate I worked with - was responsive and helpful and walked through the contract in detail with me. He told me he would be the main point of contact with me until my items were delivered. I told him I wanted my items around June 25th and he said he can't guarantee a date but it would be there around that time, plus or minus a few days. Perfect. I signed the contract. 2. After my items are picked up, Sal disappears. I am no longer able to reach him to help answer questions such as where my items are and when they will be shipped. I call around June 25th to understand where my items are and am told (after multiple attempts AND DAYS to reach someone in customer service) that they are still in transit. This means they are still sitting in a warehouse in my pickup city. WTH. They can't give me a time estimate at all of when my items will be delivered. Sal avoids my calls / screens them - I am able to reach him with a new phone number and then he drops the call once he knows who I am. After escalating to a manger, I am told that "this is not how the industry works" and we "just have to wait until they have enough items to fill up a truck to ship". THIS WAS NOT EXPLAINED BEFORE SIGNING THE CONTRACT. THEY PURPOSEFULLY EXCLUDE THIS DISCUSSION WHEN GETTING YOU TO SIGN. At this point I have no idea when I will get my items. No idea how to plan the drop off and how I can get time off from my work whenever the items come in. 3. 3 weeks pass by. No word from Sal, no word from Transit Moving Company reaching out to me telling me where my stuff is. I call every other day - get the same response. Finally, after escalating to managers, I get an email saying my items have shipped and the driver will reach out to me 24 hours before to give me a heads up on what time they will come. THERE IS NO ETA, NOTHING IN THE EMAIL THAT SAYS HOW LONG THE SHIPPING TIME IS ETC. You have literally no idea when they will show up. I am able to call the driver (after getting his number from customer service) and am told he also cannot say how long it will take because of traffic etc etc. Very unhelpful since I need to plan what day to book a transit elevator in my building and take time off work for the delivery. 4. I get a call from the driver Thursday 4pm that he can make a deliver Friday morning at 10am. He will only take cash or money order for the remaining payment - EVEN THOUGH SAL TOLD ME I CAN PAY WITH VENMO. He also needs to book a small shuttle to deliver to my apartment building COSTING ME EXTRA MONEY - EVEN THOUGH I HAVE CONFIRMED WITH HOA OF MY APARTMENT THAT SEMIS ARE ALLOWED. Basically they will come up with ways to take extra money from you and when you try to reason with them they will yell at you and will not listen. Honestly cannot believe any company can have as bad a service as this one. Also if you cannot be there for the delivery when they magically show up, they will charge you $3500 for a rebooking fee. Complete garbage given people have work shifts that they cannot just book around with less than 24 hour notice. Beware of this if you have a busy schedule. 5. My items are delivered, the boxes are ruined, large holes in them and mostly open. No quality care, no customer service. I am just glad this nightmare is over. There is a reason Yelp is now showing a suspicious business warning for this business. It was not there when I booked otherwise I would have never signed with them. Please beware and take your money elsewhere. One last note, ironically the driver was the best person I talked with. He genuinely tried to help me and work with me. He explained to me that Transit Moving Company had sold my contract to his company to drive the goods - which explains why they do not care at all about my concerns. Its just a horrible experience to be their customer. The drivers manager was horrible and would not listen to me about the fact that the HOA said the Semi could park in front of my apartment building. Seems like they just want to make extra money. I called and was instantly greeted by such a friendly voice. He provided me a quote, (a great quote-I might add!), set everything up AND BAM! We're all set. I really wish that Yelp allowed for 0 stars because this company hits the mark on THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. I've been working with Sal who seemed so nice when I was booking the move. Once the move and the payment happened it's basically like he won't get in contact with me. I was supposed to get my items delivered a month ago and they have no status update for me. I've called and left numerous messages and Sal is "always on another call." I called him through another line and he picked up right away but when I told him the move reference number he says, "let me put you on hold and check the latest," and he transferred me to their main customer service line. Packing and moving is always a stressful task especially during this difficult time. However, on the day when I scheduled for their services, the movers were punctual and very helpful in even helping me organizing a few misplaced items that I forgot to pack (my brain won't work sometimes ). All the staff were really nice and focused on their work which saved me a lot of time so I could worry about other matters during the move. When I booked an interstate move with them, with items to be picked up on June 10, Jimmy promised that the delivery date would be June 11-13. Come June 14, not a word from Jimmy and he did not return my phone calls -- finally he texted saying there is nothing he can do. Turns out that as of today, June 17, everything is STILL in storage with no estimate as to when, or if, a driver will become available. Customer service only says that the fine print gives them 21 days but that is NOT what I was promised. They say they esaclated this and that a manger would call me back. Still nothing. When I asked about a refund and getting an ethical moving company, they said sure you can get your stuff but no refund. They make promises they have no intention of following through on to get your business and then they leave you hanging. Also, they demand payment in money orders, probably because that way when they break their promises they make to their customers, we can't use a credit card company as an intermediary. Do yourself a favor and avoid at all cost! Check their reviews on the BBB website -- those are all one star -- and the number of complaints against them.
