It's so smooth and immersive that you genuinely feel like you've been dropped into a blockbuster and recruited mid-battle. Beep. Boop. Boop. Beep Beep. Those are my robot noises which also count as Transformers noises. Back when this ride came out 13 years ago, I remember being amazed by it! I thought the technology was pretty cool, the obscure story actually made sense, and it felt so immersive. It's still a very cool ride but some of the shine and appeal of the new technology has worn off. It's also pretty jerky and should be a lot smoother. It's also a good length for this type of ride, not too short or too long ~ more like just right at 4 and a half minutes. Now I was totally fine but all three of my friend I rode with got nauseous. So if you have motion sickness or vertigo, this isn't the ride for you. I will never turn down a chance to ride Transformers: The Ride - 3D when there's no line and I'm at the park. It's in the lower section of the park which is a trek, and I wouldn't venture down for the sole purpose of riding this ride. However, this is an incredibly popular ride and usually garners hour wait times. They do use Express Pass though. My personal wait time: 15 minutes max but mostly will only ride when it's a walk on. :) read more

By far my favorite ride at Universal Studios! It is a fun and action-packed ride! It goes really fast, has some joltz and surprises too. It can be a bit jerky at times, so if you have back or neck issues, I wouldn't recommend it. Same thing is you have heart problems. It's just not worth going on the ride if it's going to hurt you medically. Because of the joltz and rapid movements, you can get motion sickness. Proceed at your own risk there and decide if it is worth it for you to go on this. I find that a lot of 3D rides do give motion sickness. This ride is so much fun though, overall! It feels super quick. I don't actually know how long the ride is, but once you start it's done a couple minutes after. At least it feels like a couple minutes later lol I'm always sad when it's over. I like that you sit in the vehicle and that makes me feel safe. Your legs are hanging off or anything like that. You are sitting and can have your feet on the ground of the vehicle. read more

My husband and I visited Universal Studios Hollywood on a Thursday in early February. We've rode the Transformers: The Ride - 3D at Universal Studios Florida park before, but not the version in Hollywood. Transformers: The Ride - 3D is located on the Lower Lot at Universal Studios Hollywood, right before the entrance to Super Nintendo World. We didn't have a wait at all around 10:30 A.M Thursday morning. As soon as you enter the ride's queue line, you're immediately immersed in the experience. You weave through a military base that is under attack. Make sure to grab your 3D goggles before going on the ride! If you get motion sickness easily, avoid this ride!!! Once you board the ride vehicle, you'll embark on a journey alongside some of your favorite Autobots such as Optimus Prime and Bumble Bee! You'll battle the most villainous Decepticons led by Megatron! The ride as 2 rows of 4. This ride has some of the most cutting-edge 3D Technology and visual effects. It's really cool as the vehicle changes from screen to screen. You can feel every twist and turn while riding this ride! You'll zip through cityscapes, dodge enemy fire, and engage in some epic battles! I really like the Transformers series and this ride was a lot of fun! Ok this rating is not for the ride itself it is a great ride but BEWARE IF YOU ARE PRONE TO MOTION SICKNESS. The 3D screens combined with the moving vehicle has made me so awfully nauseous. The ride itself is really cool and fun especially if you love the Transformers. But if you're someone who gets motion sickness maybe pass this so you don't ruin your park day with a headache and nausea. read more

This review is not for those with back pain or any spine issues. You're riding on a jostling Autobot trying to get the spark to safe hands and avoid The Decepticons. Plenty of in your face moment, loud noises, and animatronics to see. Afterwards the gift shop is across the street. So are the photo ops. One of the better rides in this park. read more

I am hit or miss on this ride, kinda herky-jerky and the story just seems like the same old same old. To be honest also, I'm not super keen on the robot designs so that may play a factor. Bring back backdraft. read more

If you like Transformers movies, you must ride this ride. The line for the ride takes you through a military base with clothed military men/women as well. There is a general and express line. You must go to the lower level to find this ride and it is in the back past the mummy ride. The line experience is part of the ride. It has movies to show you your "mission", complete with the characters, and autobots from the movie. Press every button as you go through. Don't forget your 3D glasses as you board a car that the autobots will carry as you go through an action packed battlefield. You will see decepticons and autobots fight with you in the middle gun fire. Real fire will help make it feel real. It is a mix of real and video as you drive through the ride. I've been here before. This ride seems awfully familiar. Maybe because it's the same ride as Universal Studios Singapore. Same props and everything. The actual ride maybe takes 10 mins. The queue can take up to 90 mins according to the sign I passed. Lucky we came late night and there was no line. It's a fun ride that whips you side to side and the visual effects are out of this world. Also off to the side of the ride, there's a platform for a meet and greet. Times are scheduled when you can met Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and Megatron. Remember I wrote you can't do everything here in one day. Freshen up by reading my Universal Studios review. This personally is one of my favorite rides at Universal Studio. I enjoyed being immersed in a chaotic cityscape with the Transformers, and didn't mind being jerked around. The queue experience adds to the story, so pay attention as you wait to board the ride. You'll be given 3D glasses to wear throughout the ride. Enjoy! read more

I think I watched the first Transformers and aside from a strange classmate drawing Transformers H doujin art, I have had no exposure to the series LOL. Either way this ride is pretty dang fun & is a must! Probably on my top 3 rides at this park. Throughout the day the waits were anywhere between 30-50 minutes, so we can see that it was popular, but since we had the park to ourselves in the evening, it was a literal walk on. Score! You get a pair of 3D glasses when you board too and you return them afterwards. It's probably one of the more intense motion simulator rides. Your vehicle moves along, there's animatronics and a screen to look at, things super speed up, slow down, and it's definitely exhilarating. Lots or robots, mecha stuff, explosions, gunfire, cars, etc. There's an opportunity to meet the Transformer characters along the way to the ride too! read more

My son loves this ride and it is really awesome, it is very well done and the ride emmerses you into a day in the life of the Transformers as you work with Optimus Prime, Bumble Bee and more to save the "Allspark" from the bad guys. From the que to the time you exit you totally feel like you are training with NEST. The ride briefly paused and skipped a bit of one scene, barely even 15 seconds and the employees were waiting at the exit with fast passes for the inconvenience. Super nice, not necessary but and amazing gesture for sure! The team members are always friendly. For some it makes me really nauceus and triggers my migraines so we usually save this one for the end of the day. Not sure if it felt a bit more bumpy since it's been over a year since we've been on it or just a bumpier ride this time but for sure an amazing ride and a must check out during your visit. read more

I liked it, it was cool but I just didn't enjoy it as much as I would have liked. The whole ride you have to wear these 4D glasses and you are set to go on an adventure to save the planet. You get to see some really cool stuff and at the end of the ride, you are a hero! You saved the world and the whole staff claps and salutes you. The staff in this ride are dress like military soldiers and I thought that was pretty cool. This ride does have a single rider and it took me maybe 5 minutes for me to get on the ride. The staff was pretty friendly and the ride was clean. This ride is located in the lower lot of the park and I wanna say its the furthers one too from the front of the park so be prepared to walk and walk and walk to get here. The line was about 45 minutes but a single rider was about 5 so keep that in mind if you go. read more

Transformer: The Ride 3D - debut December 3, 2011. This ride has been one of the longest, operating ones at Universal Studios Hollywood, and one of my favorites in The Lower Lot section. They are sandwiched in between The Jurassic World Ride and The Mummy. Single Riders Line rules!!! The wait is at most 5 mins and rode it twice, hehe! They also have Express Pass and General waiting lines. For General wait times, averages about 90 mins or more (depending on the day and time that you go). COVID-19 Safety Procedures: As of June 15, 2021, California has opened up and masks are no longer required as long as you're vaccinated, but you still have the option of continuing to wear one if you want to (50/50 patrons wearing masks or not, and the Staff wore theirs). However, for those who not vaccinated, masks are still required. Hand sanitizers are available. The ride was crowded, but patrons kept a safe distance in between and it felt pretty safe. I love the 3D effects and graphics. I grew up watching Transformers and so this ride is near and dear to my heart. Evil Megatron trying to take over the world, and Optimus Prime and Bumblebee are there to stop him, along with help from us (Freedom Fighters, hehe!). The ride has a lot of twists and turns, but I didn't feel nauseous at all riding it (even after a full meal at Three Broomsticks). Best of all, the ride and waiting inside is nicely ventilated, yes! You can even bring in your backpack without having to store it in a locker. Overall, a favorite ride here at The Lower Lot, and gotta get a selfie picture with either Optimus Prime or Bumblebee next time! read more

So strategy is your best friend when you visit Universal Studios. We were able to visit as they just loosened their requirements regarding out of state visitors when we were in Cali. As long as you had a vaccination card you were good to go. We did some research up front and came up with a pretty good strategy about how to tackle the rides in the most efficient manner. Basically you want to hit the lower lot ASAP as soon as the gates open, which gets you onto the rides pretty quickly. So, now, long story short ..... Transformers: The Ride - 3D. This was our second ride of the day. Pretty short line we were on the ride pretty quickly. Masks were required the whole time we were in the park (unless eating or drinking in designated areas). So, as we got on the ride they reminded us masks must remain on the duration of the ride. Not to give too many spoilers, but this ride is in true Transformers fashion .... big robots, lots of guns, fast moving....really fun! Ride lasts about 2 minutes (maybe 2 1/2). Get here early, afternoon lines can exceed 90 minutes. read more

The ride is like you're in a military compound about to be placed inside a new Autobot that can hold humans inside. There are multiple film references in the queue alone; I love seeing Glenn Morshower and hearing Tom Kenny's voice instruct us how to defeat the Decepticons! The ride is great, lots of moving components and 3D screens. I think I've been on this like 20 times and I still can't get enough of it every time I visit the park. read more

Fun ride! \(**)/ This ride can be found in the Lower Lot of the park which means you have to take the escalator all the way down, down, down... the line for the ride could get long but we were lucky to have a wait time of only 15 mins. The park staff for this ride are in camouflage uniforms. As we made our way towards the motion platform-mounted vehicles we were informed of our mission through the mounted flatscreen TV's. We were to prepare for the greatest battle we'll ever ride as we embark on a mission to defend the Allspark from the evil Decepticons... so here we go! This is a motion-simulated ride that moved us rapidly quite a bit in every direction to really add to the experience as well as spinning us in circle. I didn't get dizzy on this ride as some of other 3-D rides affected me. Some of the special effects include a water pipe that broke during a fight between the transformers and sprayed us with water, the firing of a missile as hot air and fog generate the effect of an explosion (this was my favorite), robots smashing into some drums at a construction site which released clouds of fog resulting in one of the transformers asking if we were okay (I don't know the names of the individual transformer characters except for two). Towards the last part Optimus Prime congratulates one of the other Transformers and the riders (us) on our successful mission. Yay! After we exited the ride two of the Transformers, Bumblebee and Optimus Prime, were entertaining guests with a photo op. Review #1317 read more

If you've ridden the Ratatouille ride at Disneyland Paris, you'll know what to expect with the Universal Studios Hollywood Transformers 3D ride. It works the same way (you're in a ride vehicle that moves while wearing 3D glasses and moving around in front of giant video screens) except that instead of a nice little race through the streets of Paris with a mouse chef, you're thrust into some sort of battle with giant transforming robots. I don't really know what the heck was going on as far as the storyline of the ride goes, it was super loud and just a huge commotion with no real rhyme nor reason. It was sort of fun I guess, mostly because it's one of the longer rides in the park. But I don't really know what was happening except that there were big, giant robots screaming and jumping all over the place. There's a totally cool heat seeking missile effect that was pretty rad. Definitely worth waiting to ride this one, but I'd use caution if you're prone to motion sickness! read more

This ride is absolutely our favorite ride in the whole entire park. I definitely recommend hitting the lower level first when you arrive here in Universal. That way you are getting on some of the most popular eyes first which are Transformers, Mummy, and Jurassic Park. This is a 3D movie where you have to wear the glasses and you're basically catapulted into the game itself. If you have back issues you might want to skip this one because it works you up it towards you down in church all the way around. But it was absolutely so much fun. If you are a transformer fan like we are from beginning to end. We are so die hard fans and this ride definitely lived up to the hype read more

Love this ride! It was a 40 minute wait when we arrived and 5 minute into the wait the ride shut down. Since so many people left we ended up getting pretty close to the front and in total waited about 35-40 minutes. Not too bad for a Saturday. The ride was fun and love how interactive it is with the heat, movement, and water affects. read more

I loved Transformers movies for a very long time, it was my first time getting on this ride so I was very excited. Turned out this ride was as great as I expected. Seeing those alien robots coming into "life" was so much fun and exciting. 3D images looked very close to real to me, with the fake fire and water splashing everything was heart pounding and so thrilling. I was glad this ride was a bit longer than other rides, they really did a fantastic job to give us as much fun as possible. The ride is on the lower lot of Universal Studios. I recommend express tickets so you don't have to wait in line for a few hours. No rides are worth that kind of long wait! read more

Another fun 3D experience/ride at Universal. This one approaches the Harry Potter Forgotten Journey and the Simpsons ride for thrills, although it honestly is the most "jerky" of any of the Universal rides I've been on (and I've been on all of them at this point except the Mummy, which was closed for repairs). Again, I'm absolutely clueless about the franchise that inspired this attraction, but whatever... they're giant metal things that seem to "transform" into other things. Doesn't seem like that story line is too hard to jump into, am I right? You enter a standard looking roller coaster cart for this ride and are on a track, but it's the same story with other rides -- quick turns into different rooms with pretty amazing 3D (no water or hot dragon breath in your face on this one!) effects, more fast turns and a few simulated "drops" and more than a few "near misses" from some of the more violent smash happy transformers. Since I haven't been able to ride The Mummy yet, this is my favorite attraction on the Back Lot of Universal. If you've done the Studio Tour, I think you'll find the Transformers ride to be very similar in nature to the Fast and the Furious experience. And that's all I'm giving away. Except... this one is a little more dramatic so little kids may be scared. Or fascinated. I know practically nothing about kids. They're your kids... use some judgement. Worth going the mile or so downstairs for - and there's a gift shop outside (of course!) and a "real live" transformer available for photo ops. read more

I am a big fan of Transformers the movie so naturally was very excited to check out the ride. I had front of the line passes which saved me hours of waiting in line. This was a big plus, if you can afford to get these privilege passes it saves you time and frustration of long waiting times in the hot Southern California weather. Upon entering the ride you are enter the NEST base, you are led to the ride where park workers are dressed in military fatigues. They lead the passengers to get on - and get off - the ride quickly. The ride ~ Optimus Prime preps you for the ride of your life aboard a new Autobot hero named Evac who doubles as your ride vehicle. Together, you're charged with taking the Allspark shard to safety during a Decepticon attack. But despite warm blasts of heat from laser cannons and battles that tore apart buildings, when the ride came to an end, we were in possession of the AllSpark and Megatron had been defeated. Fantastic use of technology that provides a near seamless use of the illusion of speed and movement. Loved the Transformers 3D ride. read more

Waiting in line is probably the most annoying part. I was getting tired of that NEST chick on the screen talking about what food they have to offer and that working for NEST is not a joke. I was hearing that over and over and it just got annoying. Once we finally got inside, I was relieved. The ride itself is amazing! I'm usually not much for 3D rides but this one is the BEST i've ever been on. It was smooth, and not once did I feel dizzy. Very action packed, it was an amazing thrill ride. I LOVED the fact that I could see Bumblebee and Optimus Prime out taking pictures with park-goers before entering the Transformers Ride. Staff personnel are dressed in military gear, so it was a nice little detail to the ride. The wait time was about 45 minutes. **TIP: Wait to go on the Transformers ride later on in the day. The later it got, the shorter the wait time. By the time it hit about 6:00 pm, the wait time went from 75 minutes to 45 minutes- which wasn't too bad. The line to get to the ride may seem rather long, but this may be because you have to walk through many various rooms. I kept hearing comments from other park goers: "ANOTHER room?" and "are we almost there yet?" I am guilty for also saying the same thing. But, the television sets that they have displayed through the rooms and details of the "mission" helped the time seem to go by faster. Once you get to the front of the line, you are seated into a cart with other people. The graphics here are SO detailed and realistic. I really felt like I was in the action with Bumblebee and Optimus Prime. The bass and effects made this ride amazing! There were fire and water graphics and each time these elements came up, you could feel the heat and/or water. It was great interactive fun! Transformers is my FAVORITE ride out of the whole park.
