I asked if the mistake could have been made on their end, because I had the appointment on my calendar for weeks and remember making it. The other person was not there. They made me wait for 20 minutes, not telling me whether or not they would take me, just saying, "You're not in the book." Meanwhile, the other person did not show up and did not answer their phone when they called her. I told the receptionist I was starting to get frustrated with the situation, because I know I'd made the appointment. After 20 minutes the stylist came out and said that she would not take me because I'd been rude to the receptionist. I was in disbelief and asked her, "Chelsea, Are you really not going to take me? This mistake must have been on your end, and I've been looking forward to this appointment for weeks". She merely told me that her "heart was racing and it wasn't good for her so I'd have to reschedule" Never in our interaction did they acknowledge that the mistake could have been on their end, and they treated me horribly. I'm 72 years old and have never been accused of being rude by a shop in my life. Bijou has no idea how to treat their customers. Their arrogance is beyond belief.

I am a curly haired gal and- let me tell you- I have experienced some pretty awful haircuts in Upstate New York. Lots of places advertise curly cuts, "devacuts", yaddah yaddah- but they truly have no idea what they are doing. I can't tell you how many times I have had to go to NYC for rescue haircuts. ENTER JOLENE AND BIJOU.... if you want a great curly cut, this is where you should be going. Jolene is a genius- she truly understand the dynamic nature of curls and takes her time getting a lay of the "curl land" before she starts snipping. She starts with a dry cut to make sure she doesn't take too much... then she proceeds with the wash and dry process... and then- the grand finale- more styling at the end. She cut my hair before my wedding last July- it was perfect. And she just rejuvenated my mop of hair again today. I find the prices to be very, very fair. As an aside, everyone wears masks at the salon, and they check your temp and employ mandatory hand washing when you first walk in. If you have curly hair and are living in upstate New York/Syracuse, you must try this place.

Here is why: First, the salon is very relaxing, well-appointed, yet unpretentious. Stacy is the owner and has a gift for hair design and for running a business, too. Stacy is specially trained by Ouidad to cut curly hair and does an exceptional job. Every time. My daughter initially came as a companion and for mother-daughter time, but has been delighted by Lindsay's talent for both styling hair and eyebrow waxing. She also discovered Angela, the nail technician and her meticulous mani/pedis. She is an expert gel nail provider. The customer service at Indigo is unparalleled. I can say that because I've been getting my hair cut here for yearrrrrrrs and don't plan on going anywhere else. I moved out of the area over eight years ago and I still refuse to find a new stylist/salon. Every time I go upstate to visit I make sure I call for an appointment. Why wouldn't I? The ladies are good at what they do - they know hair! And they don't treat you like just a customer, they treat you like a friend and who wouldn't love that? Beyond the cuts and customer service they've also got a clean shop, nail studio, and great prices.
