The Village Fit Gym - Super clean locker room!

The Village Fit Gym

(1 review)

Lakewood

My friend lives in an apartment in the village and she has access to this gym, so while I was…read morestaying with her, we decided to come and work out together. The area where the gym is located is extremely nice, the commons where all of the shared village grounds are (including restaurants and coffee shops, along with this gym) is extremely upscale. My friend told me that in the past, it cost five dollars to bring a guest to this gym, but when we came on a Sunday morning, they told us it was actually $20. We went ahead and went for it since it was just one day, but in the future, just be aware of that. The gym itself is very nice, the facilities are very clean, especially in the locker rooms, and there was a plethora of equipment. Walking in there is a check in desk, and just to the left there is a big staircase next to the indoor space housing a basketball court. If you go up the stairs, there are a lot of machines up there along with free weight /free space areas with kettle bells and yoga mats etc. There's also a small outdoor area with some machines, including a battle rope and a few others. If instead of going up those stairs on entering you keep going towards the back, the locker rooms will be on your right, and there's some additional equipment under the staircase adjacent to the basketball court. Around the corner, there is also a lot more freeway equipment, including a Smith machine (my personal favorite) and free bars for squatting/benching as well as Dumbbells and things of that nature. I noticed also an outdoor area with like maybe a parkour area? I wasn't sure exactly what it was but looked like a grown up jungle gym. And just behind that, there was a large (and busy!) tennis court. On the other side of the gym itself, there were also some large fields that looked like maybe they're for soccer or some other field sport? I didn't see any soccer goals though. There's also a pretty long sidewalk surrounding area that would be nice to walk around, but just be mindful it's not a very shaded area and in the summer in Texas it's pretty hot so I would be careful about that. If you're living in the village, the location of the gym is really great because it's so close by. My friend and I were running late so we actually did drive (took 1-2 min from her apt) and parked in the parking garage underneath the village area; on the Sunday morning that we came it was just free to park there and we didn't even have to take a ticket, the bars were just up when we came in when we left. However, I imagine that if it wasn't a weekend, you may have to get a ticket and pay or validate. Last thing to note: even though it was a Sunday morning, there was a pretty decent number of people in that gym. I never had to wait for anyone to use any equipment or any machines, but I did see some people talking to each other about that. My friend told me that it was basically "empty as far as she was concerned," compared to how it is during the week when apparently it's much busier and you do sometimes have to wait for equipment. Overall, this place is really nice, and given im thinking about possibly moving to Dallas in a few years i am quite strongly considering this area because of how nice it is, and because of the presence of this gym! I wish they hadn't increased the price for guests (or had a fee at all), but for those living here and just using the facilities complementarily, this is a really nice place.

I took their hot yoga class, which was both refreshing and energizing. The instructor was incredibly kind and hands-on with her guidance, making the class enjoyable for all levels. The facility itself has so much to offer! It really feels like a one-stop shop for fitness and wellness. There's a small cafe on-site, which is perfect for grabbing something before or after a workout. They also have multiple pickleball courts, which adds a fun, social element to the experience. My favorite part was definitely the recovery area. They offer cryotherapy, infrared light therapy, compression, and massage chairs. I personally tried the compression therapy and was very satisfied with how it made me feel afterward. Overall, this is an amazing space if you're looking to combine workouts, recovery, and convenience all in one place!

I felt like compared to other gyms it was very clean and the amenities were ones i enjoyed using! they have a beautiful stretching area and all of the equipment is open and spacious. i've taken a ride class with Jamie that was so fun and inviting, even hot yoga classes that feel so refreshing and addicting. front desk staff are welcoming and the Beaming smoothie place being on site is lovely after a hard workout (will be back for that acai bowl) that being said a few months in i am cancelling my membership RELUCTANTLY. I only truly took the pilates reform classes consistently and knew they were not classical based going in. not being able to be in a Shalena class anymore feels like a horrible break up but other than her i have not found another instructor i truly like. i am getting training in pilates instruction and once i started that training it made the club studio format show many flaws. lack of cueing of form, breath, and modifications. you'd think in a class of almost 30 reformers modifications would be a huge part of class but for most instructors i had to modify for myself. i can't imagine someone who is first getting into pilates, who thinks the shakes are normal and don't know how to modify for their own personal struggles, would be able to not risk injury in this set up and style. they do ask in the beginning of the class if anyone has any injuries or limitations but i've been taking pilates for years and never knew i had hyper mobility that needed modifications until recently. not everyone will know their limitations until they get hurt. standing on the reformer happens in nearly every single class (ive taken 30) which is a more advanced skill that should not be in an all levels class often. like i said in the beginning leaving this gym feels like a horrible break up and if you are someone who is trained in pilates and looking for more intermediate to advanced contemporary pilates i think the reform classes are great. i personally can not keep going here knowing what i know about pilates now

When I first became a member here, they had just opened the doors and everything seemed to be cool…read more Overtime I realized this was just going to be another uncapped 24 hour fitness in the making. The staff never gave me any issues, but I think the company set them up for failure for not having protocol for certain things like letting members into the private sauna, or whether or not certain things were out of service or even the upkeep of the bathrooms, which was the nail in the coffin for me The sauna in the bathroom hardly worked, and even though I had the upgraded membership to use the infrared on it, they were never available. The cold plunge's were not kept well and it was just too much hassle to try and use those extra amenities when there's barely anyone there to support The gym floor itself has some decent equipment, but the bench press was very basic and my least favorite . I also never took any classes so I can't give any feedback, but I never really saw classes going on to begin with. The cleanliness was by far the worst. Counters, disgusting, showers a mess, it look like no one ever cleaned, and things were always broken from sinks down to the plumbing just being bad in general. It also just became another photo shoot for a lot of "fitness influencers "and those of us that really like to work out don't want to feel like we are in the way. It says no tripods, but that isn't going to stop anyone because again, the staff really doesn't regulate. My biggest issue is that when I try to cancel considering I was all the way in California they gave me such a hard time and now claim I owe them money that I shouldn't. I would urge you to run in the opposite direction from this gym. You would get just as good service at a 24 hour fitness or in LA fitness. I really thought the price with all included would be worth it and that the gym would at least have a high cleanliness standard because there are other gyms at that same price point that boast about how clean they are so it is possible. I don't see this gym lasting very long if I'm going to be honest.

Disappointed with my experience …read more There were no trash cans in the women's restrooms, and there were at least 2 clogged toilets. I informed the front desk as I was leaving. The wipes are also so incredibly thin, doesn't feel like you're cleaning anything. Everything is kinda just strewn around in the women's only section. I came here with a friend using the free day pass, but I couldn't imagine paying for this experience.

I specifically searched for a gym that offers group workout classes because that's how I work out…read morebest, and 24 Hour Fitness has been a great fit for me. One of the first things that drew me in was the convenience--it's only about a 7-minute drive from my house, which makes it so easy to stay consistent. I signed up for a membership over Winter Break and chose the Platinum membership so I could have full access. One of the best perks is the buddy pass, which can be used every day you attend the gym. It made total sense for me to get this option so my husband could be my workout buddy. We went together on Saturday and were both impressed with how clean the gym was and how easy it was to find cleaning supplies throughout the space. The front desk staff deserve a shout-out--they are always friendly and greet me every time I walk in, which makes a big difference. What truly keeps me coming back, though, is Scott's workout classes. From my very first class, he welcomed me, explained how the class works, and clearly shared his expectations. His words--"If it gets hard, just keep moving"--really stuck with me. For the first time in a long time, I felt like I could actually do it. I've attended his classes on Tuesday and Thursday this week and already plan to be back again on Saturday. If you're looking for a clean gym, friendly staff, and motivating group classes that make you feel supported no matter your fitness level, this place is definitely worth checking out!

The front staff here are super nice and welcoming, and I really appreciated their help with all the problems caused by the East Plano location. Monica was very friendly and empathetic; she apologized for what we experienced and tried to help alleviate my frustration. Unfortunately, I didn't like the gym overall. I think the equipment is a little outdated compared to other gyms in the area. The gym is big, and I like the two floors, but while I was there, I didn't see people wiping down equipment after using it, and cleanliness is a major factor in my decision. All the sections also seem very tightly packed, and you can accidentally end up in someone's space without realizing it. There's also not enough seating upstairs if you're waiting for friends, unless you want to sit by the wall and have people stare at you while they work out.
