My husband and I actually drove past this place at first--I was expecting green signage, not red,…read moreso it didn't immediately catch my eye. Even walking in, we weren't quite sure what to expect. The entrance is small, and you're greeted right away, which was a nice touch. Once inside, it's very dark with deep red lighting--almost like stepping into a cave. It took a moment for our eyes to adjust, but once they did, we immediately felt at ease. The space is cozy and perfectly aligned with its purpose: it's all about the jazz. The service was great--welcoming, attentive, and added to the overall experience without taking away from the music. And the music? Absolutely captivating. It pulls you in and transports you--you can't help but settle into the vibe and just enjoy the moment together. We went on a Monday, so there was plenty of seating, but I noticed there's also a lower level that likely accommodates larger weekend crowds. There's a solid drink menu and a small selection of food, but honestly, this isn't the place you come for a full meal. Come for the drinks, stay for the music, and soak in the atmosphere.

Jazz Bar The Green Lady Lounge is an exclusively Jazz lounge featuring Kansas City Jazz musicians A little hole-in-the-wall with a cool, throwback vibe. Think speakeasy! Even with a full house, our server checked in on us often. This two-level jazz club near downtown Kansas City was a fun find for us. We did not make it to the downstairs bar. Everything from the planning to the service was absolutely amazing and Kat was the easiest person to deal with and was SUPER flexible and accommodating. We looked at multiple venues in Kansas City but they were all more expensive and you had a shorter time frame to get things done. I was hesitant because its a local place and I thought it would be less than something bigger in the city. I couldn't have been more wrong!

Then I tried the tiramisu but it was too sweet. I then went to the Pomodoro - ingenious!!! The red on the glass was so creative. Also delicious. Our first visit was okay, though we found the drinks to be extraordinarily weak. The server was very nice, and the DJ was great. Unfortunately there's not a designated dance floor and it is so brightly lit no one was dancing when we left at 9:30pm. Despite all that we decided to go back, thinking it would be better on NYE... First, we purchased tickets online AND reserved a table for 6 via the website, but when we arrived we were told they oversold and we could only have a high top with 4 stools. STRIKE 1. I made a reservation for 6, not 4. The event said doors open at 4pm with a complimentary buffet between 6-8pm. The buffet was a salad, lasagna, mac and cheese, chicken strips, and a quesadilla--all of which were delicious. Unfortunately, there was ONE bartender and ZERO servers until after 7pm so we had to go to the bar to order a drink. In fact, no one came to take our order at our table until after 8pm. STRIKE 2. The DJ played some great music but kept cranking up the volume to the point that standing shoulder-to-shoulder we couldn't talk to each other. Additionally, because they oversold, we were surrounded on all sides by people standing around, bumping and brushing by us. STRIKE 3. We ended up leaving around 8:45pm because it was painfully loud, no one was dancing because the area where you would expect dancing was full of people standing around, and we had to take turns sitting/standing because our reservation for 6 was not honored. Sadly I cannot recommend this place.

Because we had a baby with us, we were escorted into a separate room and placed at an oversized 8-person table for four people. Before I could even sit down--let alone receive or look at a menu--the server aggressively pressed me for our drink orders. Expecting guests to order drinks when they haven't been given a menu or even had a chance to sit down shows a lack of basic hospitality training. To make matters worse, the floor underneath our table was covered in leftover food from previous guests and clearly hadn't been swept. Between the rushed service, the isolated seating, and the unsanitary conditions, we decided to get up and leave. We won't be returning.
