My family and I stayed here for four days in mid August in our travel trailer. It is a great…read morelocation! The prices are incredible. It's convenient to everything in Virginia Beach. The campsites are clean and well-kept and are located right next to the beach. As a previous person noted, you must be affiliated with the DoD for access to the Dam Neck Annex - the Navy base the campground is located on. I have two critiques that prevent me from a five-star review. The first is that the campsites are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. We made our reservations in January for our August trip based on recommendations from friends and knowing the campground would fill up quickly. When we arrived on Tuesday afternoon at 2pm, after driving seven hours to get there, the only spots remaining were the two "shared" sites. Each was already half occupied by someone we didn't know. The space between the sites is no more than what you'd get in a parking lot (you share the same concrete pad). A reservation system that allowed you to reserve specific sites would fix this. The second critique is that there seems to be a lot of long-term campers. Not seasonal, but long term. These people have their RVs or travel trailers essentially parked in prime spots and they weren't there, at least during our visit. I get it it. If they pay, they get to stay. Perhaps, though, the number of those campers should be limited to allow families on vacation more opportunities to take advantage of the campground. Overall, though, it's a good campground. We may be back in the future. Knowing what I know now, though, we'll use a different strategy when we arrive.

The Visitor's Center has restrooms, a small gift shop and picnic tables outside. The area was originally home to gristmills and a sawmill, and a farm supply store, where the trading happened. When the mills closed around World War II, the land was sold to developers. The land was donated to the state and became the park. The pond has a unique ecosystem. Some artifacts from the old mill are displayed in the visitor center. The exhibits cover the history of the area and the wildlife there. Who knew that alligators are this far north? You will also find beavers, otters, bobcats, birds and fish.

No WiFi or cable but we had cell service for a hot spot and our WINEGARD (Dish) got excellent reception for TV... Fire pits are provided, just stone piled in a circle but it works... Very quiet and just off of I95 on some back roads... Mostly TT 5th wheels but a Class A pulled in while we were here... The electric and water are behind you while the sewer is ahead of you so depends on what lengths you brought to make sure you can reach them... There is a grassy area in the center to walk your puppies, don't forget your baggies to pick up after them... An overall very nice place to rest or stay a bit...

Quiet hour is at 10pm and the campground did quiet down. At some point before quiet hour there was people singing on a Karaoke machine but it was done before quiet hour. We have been coming to RV Resort at Carolina Crossroads for several years. The previous manages…read morewere great and wonderful to work with however there has been a major change this year. The facility is not as well maintained and very large potholes full of water. We stayed a Saturday night on our way to Myrtle Beach with the grandkids. The campground was full that night and when we came back from dinner, there was no place near the building for my wife to park her car. She parked in front to the trailer until a space had opened up and then she moved it. On our returned trip we stayed there again. This time Neal was in his golf cart and yelled at my wife telling her that she had left her car parked all night in front of the tailer in the road. He never came over and asked us to move it to some other place. When we had walked our dogs later that night there was an open parking space and she moved it immediately. He could have reviewed the security cameras and saw that she had indeed moved it. I didn't appreciate him yelling at my wife in front of our grandkids a week later from his golf cart and then driving away. The grass is long and the facility is not well maintained or kept. There were broken water faucet where the was is leaking. He yells a people for driving around the potholes that are full of mud and water. He needs a class on customer service and anger management. Not sure if we would stay there again under the current management.
