After seeing the quality of trailers coming out the door at Owens, when I returned to New England, I sold my old trailer and ordered one over the phone. Picked it up when promised drove it back to New England, until November when I had my boat hauled, washed and set on the trailer. I had to make 3 or 4 minor and quick adjustments and the boat sat perfectly on the trailer. Kim, Doug and Jeff did everything to make this a great deal and it was. They replace all 4 shock absorbers on my 2003 Dodge 3500 SLT Quad Cab 8 foot bed pick up truck with heavy duty Monroe shocks. The shock replaced were the original OEC Shocks that had 90,044 mile and were shot and resisted removal. They also installed Timbren Suspension Enhancement System to upgrade capabilities to support heavy loads and my 4,500 lbs 2014 Lance 1172 Truck Camper for safety and performance under load. Tim, the Master Mechanic also installed and re-wired the missing witing harness to the camper to the truck to ensure all my lights worked properly. One quoted $7,000.00 (including paint job), but when he found out is was truly a hole, he wouldn't return my calls to set up the work. Exasperated, I did a search for welders and found Jason. He laughed when I explained the problem. Said he hears it all the time and cannot imagine why, as it's not at all difficult - at least not for Jason. Sure enough, he came to me and got right to work. The man is an artist in metal. Knocked it all out in three hours, just as he had estimated over the phone. He even gave me a spray can of very professional cold galvanizing primer ACE Hardware doesn't carry at no additional charge just to make certain the repair lasts. One man shop, run by a good man who knows what he is doing and offers very fair pricing - a real gem in today's world. I can recommend Rougarou Metal Works without reservation and as 30-year business owner myself, I know what constitutes a pro. Jason is a pro and a really good guy. With that said, however, I am writing now about my experience over the last 2 months with Thunder Marine. My wife and I recently moved to Apollo Beach to have water access and the desire to have a boat. We attended two Boat Shows and went back and forth between new and used. We met Seth at the Tampa show and he introduced us to the Nautic Star. We knew we wanted a deck boat but were also considering a pontoon. The Nautic Star looked to meet our needs but we had a lot of questions and a lot of specifics we wanted covered. The staff from ownership to financing and from service to sales all were very patient with us. We committed to a boat that would be transferred to Thunder Marine the day of the St. Pete Boat show since the inventory did not have exactly what we wanted. One of the important factors in buying was that Thunder Marine would do a delivery and a 20 hour service remotely in Apollo Beach. We have no way to trailer it back and forth so this would save us a ton of effort. They scheduled delivery at a convenient time and Seth took us for our sea trial. He went over all the features and made sure both my wife and I were comfortable with everything. There were several manufacture defects we noted and Seth assured us that they would be addressed at the 20 hour service. By May, we had exceeded our 20 hours and were more than satisfied but were still concerned about the warranty issues. However, the service team made sure to work with our schedule and committed to picking up our boat, returning it to Thunder Marine and delivering it back to us after the service and warranty repairs. The decision to do this rather than service at our house was made due to the details of some of the warranty issues - all minor. I was more than impressed at the courtesy of the driver on both the pick up from our house and the return after the repairs. He even met me at the dock to load and unload the boat. When we got it back, all defects were replaced and the service was completed on time. The service department even text me with updates for pick up, the service process and the return. All in all, the entire process and the continued customer service efforts made posting this review an easy decision. We may not be a returning customer for a few years but when we are ready to shop again, I will trust the Thunder Marine team.
