Visiting from Nevada and was walking around and came across this place! I loved it! Great vibe and great selections! Right as I walked in there was some cool hand Mande mugs with their logo on it from a local artist! I absolutely loved it! Has to get one for my dad. Sad I didn't find a record to add to my collection, but maybe next time. This place is totally worth checking out if you are walking around! I heard the guy talking to another customer, and it sounds like they can order stuff only and shipped to store. But again, just over heard. It is worth your time coming into this record store. Everyone who works here is so nice and knowledgeable. They are not the "too cool for school" type of people. Prices are great and a great selection. Sure it is a smaller shop (still a huge selection) but that is only because they have quality not quantity, every record, cd, tape, record player or whatever is inspected before it is put on the floor. Other shops may have a bigger selection however it is records that you would never think of buying. Every record at Traffic Record Store is a gem, from hip hop to country from used to new they have it all at good prices. They do so much for the town. I highly recommend!! read more

I didn't realize I left a review here in 2018 but I have a big update. I spent 20 years of my life in retail. And the thing about customer service, you really find out how good or bad it is when something goes wrong. For years we would stop in every time we drove to the coast or Paso for some wine tasting. A little over a year ago on one of these trips we stopped in and found something that I had been on the hunt for years, a Marantz 2275. I just love the way these look and sound and this one looked pristine. Price was fair for condition and I was told by the owner Manuel that it had been serviced and had a partial recap. It was love at first sight and big shocker, my wife said "Get It!" (Did not see that one coming) Take it home, hook it up and it sounds great, had a few moments of buzz or something in the first few hours that I chalked up to "50yr old receiver" things. Then the buzz turned into pops and the receiver went into protect mode. Not good. I mess with it for a few days and finally call the store. I agree to drive it up and assured it has a warranty and will be taken care of. I and gonna montage this now. It goes in and out of service and problem persists. At around the 6 month point it's looking like this whole experience is going to be a bust. That's when Manual found another technician. Let's try this again, over the next few months it ended up getting a full recap and this thing should be rock solid, well it's not, the problem persists. And then the root cause was found. It took a long time but it is absolutely now as pristine as one of the can be. I want to point out some reasons why the is an excellent display of good customer service especially taking into account that it was a full year from start to finish. 1. Every step of the way, refund was an option. 2. I was given a loaner to use after the first service didn't go well that I had for almost 11 months. 3. In all but one drop off the unit was picked up and dropped off at my house 100mi away (think about that) Shad, the technician that Traffic Records is now using is very very good at what he does in an age when not many know what to do with vintage electronics. Wow what a cool new store! It has been awhile since I have been to Traffic Records and I love the new location and decor! I am not a huge music gal but walking into this airy, bright and clean record store was a welcome surprise. My husband and son love going to record stores and they are usually dark, jammed up and dusty. Traffic Records is spread out with wide aisles, big windows letting in a lot of natural light and it was very clean. I love the big leather couch so I have a place to relax while my guys look around. There is a large selection of albums, CDs and even some VHS tapes. If you are looking for a record player, there are plenty here to choose from. Traffic Records is highly nostalgic for every day Joe's and vinyl collectors alike. Manny is highly knowledgeable and can point you in the right direction for records and equipment. He has a solid collection of new vinyl, and tons of vintage stuff that you can spend hours looking through. The place is a fun hang-out and even smells like the 60's and 70's. I went by the store to look around. I noticed albums outside and decided to pick a couple. Paid cash, they owed me $10. The guy said he didn't have change and said I'll just do this he handed me a wad of bills. When I got in the car I straightened them out and counted them... $8. Stopped by yesterday, only had a few minutes, and the guy working there was awesome! Started music convo immediately and was really helpful with suggestions, areas I should check out, and knowledge of the shop. Really love how they arranged their LPs into different genres and a few smaller record labels that put out great was (Colemine, Karma Chief, etc). Had a bunch that other shops don't, wish I had had more time to shop. Recommended for sure! read more

Fantastic, family-run record store. great customer service. even played a few albums for us that we were interested in so we could hear the albums' condition for ourselves. Vinyl is organized, making hunting and digging fun and easy. I have been to stores where the records are packed so tight you cannot flip through anything. I love, love, love Traffic Records. It really is that gem in downtown Atascadero that makes that city so very special. My boyfriend is a long-time fan of Traffic and since we've been dating making stops at Traffic to check out their record selection has become a part of our routine. With the pandemic, Traffic Records has really adapted to the online scene. While I have not used their website, I do frequent their Instagram very regularly and let me tell you, those $10 Tuesday record sales are amazing. I have picked up so many albums that have a special place in my heart. They do have a delivery system that you can opt for, and I did and I was very impressed with their open communication and adaptability. Truly a gem. What I also love about Traffic is the record selection. I can always find my favorite niche artists there and the prices are great. The store is always clean and the music is always bumpin'. I greatly appreciate all of the precautions they have taken in this pandemic, from the limited amount of people in the store, to the hand sanitizer being readily available, to masks being required. I walked in (before Covid times) to buy a turntable for my husband for his birthday- Miguel took so much time to help me find the perfect one, within my budget. He even threw in a free record since I was buying several. He gave me very specific care instructions too- which, of course, I promptly messed up! I bent the needle and took it back, and he didn't have a replacement for me but took the time to call other stores to find one for me so that I could give it to my husband on his birthday, ready to use. Fantastic record store in Atascadero! It's not big, but the selection is in excellent condition. There is a good variety of titles here in multiple different genres. The owner not only knows his stock but also knows a lot about different music genres in general, and he seems genuinely interested in music as a whole. I ended up finding another Monte Mills album here that I don't have. The prices are reasonable considering the condition of the albums that you're purchasing. Been meaning to come and check this place out and finally had the opportunity over this past weekend. It is a small spot packed with great finds. I got to meet and talk with the owner Manny while I was digging and we found we had a lot in common. Born at the same hospital, grew up in the San Gabriel Valley and started DJing at a young age. I really liked getting an opportunity to get to know him and I look forward to hanging out, once hanging out is a thing. I guess I came in to his last weekend at the current location as he is moving to a bigger spot just 2 doors down. He will have a DJ set up at the new location as well and I am sure I will be dropping some beats at some point this year. read more

Amazing record store! Found some unexpected rarities among lots of cool stuff. The owner let me and my husband look through a newly arrived collection of punk 45s even though they weren't priced yet. (This might have been due to the fact that we were from out of town.) Picked out a few from the collection and the owner fairly priced and let us purchase them on the spot. The owner was extremely knowledgeable and just an all around friendly great guy to talk to. Oogled my new records on the 3-hour drive home in anticipation of spinning them when I got home. From everyday classics to heavily sought after records, both new and used (amazing funk, soul and jazz sections) and always a nice amount of drum breaks hidden in there too. The owner, Manuel, is unbelievably knowledgeable in all genres of music and a stand up guy. Sometimes I go to shop for the records and other times simply to chat with the owner.
