My wife and I were long overdue to update our Living Trust and did so recently with Meyer & Yee using a Legal Plan I'm enrolled in thru my employer. Prior to our first appointment, we received a comprehensive Estate Planning packet that contained an explanation of Estate Planning Terms, an Estate Planning Flow Chart and an Estate Planning Worksheet. Having this packet beforehand was very helpful in outlining what information we needed to gather together as well as decisions to consider in preparation for our initial consultation. Kent Meyer and Mike Yee were both personally present at our initial meeting. As new clients, we appreciated that very much. We walked thru the Pre-Planning Worksheet with Mike and found him quite helpful in answering questions we had regarding options we had not decided on before meeting NOTE: going thru the pre-planning packet carefully beforehand will pay off in making the process go much smoother. In addition to updating our 20-year old Living Trust, we also created documents for our Last Will, Durable Power of Attorney, and Advance Healthcare Directives. About three weeks later, we had a second meeting with Simon LeBleu, a very knowledgeable intern, who walked us thru the final documents. After a few minor amendments were made, we signed the documents and left with a nicely bound portfolio of the entire package including an additional electronic copy for our files. We needed to have our trust revised but didn't feel the attorney who put it together did a very good job so of course the task began to find someone else to update/redo it. Our financial planner with Fidelity recommended several attorneys in the area and after reviewing them all on Yelp as well as talking to the receptionists at each of their offices, we elected to give Meyer & Yee a try, and so very glad we did!! Our first consultation was free and knew we would use them after our first meeting. The office is very proferssional yet very laid back and relaxed. We met with both Kent and Mike during our process as well as one of their legal assistants, Simon. Simon did all of the work, but either Mike or Kent were always in the room to address any isssues/questions. As mentioned by another reviewer, they not only updated our trust but they also updated our Power of Attorneys, Wills, Heath Care Directives, and are now working to get a copy of the deed to our home in order to get it into the trust. My husband and I were purchasing our first home and we ended up working with a mortgage company and broker that consistently pushed back our closing date, lied multiple times about us being fully approved, and had us release our deposit to the sellers before all contingencies were removed. After almost 2 months of completing numerous amounts of documentation and constant running around...the sellers eventually became frustrated and pulled out, taking our deposit with them and then placing the house right back on the market at a much higher price. We were devastated and heartbroken as that house was our dream home! So, we hired a new relator and mortgage broker to help us get the home back! Little did we know it was going to cost us a whole lot more money...on top of the fact that we already lost the initial deposit! I found Meyer and Yee for my grandmother. She and MYSELF went into Meyer and Yee TOGETHER. It was stressful for me that my grandmother did NOT have a trust so after I explained why she needs one, she agreed to let me help her get one. Everything she had would go into probate and between lawyers and greedy family members the home that my grandmother has for her daughter (my mother) would be sold and gone. I can breathe a HUGE sigh of relief now that she and I have a trust set up for the security of my mother. My wife and I have a very difficult and unorthodoxed real estate transaction with a buyer that we are carrying the loan for. The buyer has not fulfilled his end of the deal and for the past year we've been struggling to see what the best alternative is to address this situation with the buyer so we approached Meyer and Yee for their advise.
