To further draw us there (it is not that close for us), the staff is one of the most genuinely welcoming and helpful teams around, which is all the more surprising consider it being tied to one of the largest companies in the world. Not only are the team members helpful in assisting us the find items we are looking for, which is not that infrequent considering an item may be in between stocking or deliveries, many are available and very active to make assistance easily approachable. From the cashiers, to those who focus on specific departments, to those who work at customer service, and those who roam throughout the store, they all remember us and are part of making the shopping experience enjoyable! While our service experiences at the early phases of the store's opening felt a bit curt and simultaneously either shy or brusque, the team has hit their stride and really exemplifies customer service at its finest in a truly warm, helpful, and genuine manner. As for what we typically shop for at AFCCWA, it is an exception to our rule: a place where we get most of our weekly groceries because we are more in line with the traditional Asian and European style of shopping, i.e. going to multiple places to source the best of what each store has to offer. Having been introduced to AFCCWA after making some Amazon returns, we have found ourselves exploring more of the store and finding more terrific items across multiple sections of the store. Now, we make sure to visit the aisles for produce (lots of great organic fruits and vegetables), dairy, cheese/meat, frozen seafood, cereals/spices, and even general merchandise (e.g. OXO brand scissors and staples were on bargain sales!). As my DC notes, it is like "a treasure hunt!" That said, the main draw for us are the quality of the organic produce, pasture-raised eggs, and grass-fed milk/beef which rival the best in the area in terms of quality. However, the pricing is generally lower with rotating sales making the same items truly incredible deals! Since they have special pricing that changes periodically (running for multiple days) or even just one day, it helps doing a little "homework" (e.g. searching for sales items online) before going. All in all, AFCCWA is a real gem of grocery store with an exceptional staff who make the shopping experience more like that of visiting a friendly neighborhood market than a supermarket that is part of a corporate behemoth. Plus, with amazing sales and fascinating random finds, AFCCWA keeps us coming back for both our regular staples and an eye for new items alike!

It's a fascinating place, as if Trader Joe's and a mom-and-pop vintage grocery store merged. I imagine their buyer prowls Europe for obscure items and random stuff. The prices are excellent. I would not say it is the equivalent of a supermarket where you can get everything you need for the refrigerator and pantry. It's more of a place to discover treats. They also sell products that are not food and drink, and that also is weird, not systematic. We do regard it as the best place for wine. My wife also wondered if they had a pharmacy. We had been running around town, stopping at two places that are part of national chains. One was too busy and said come back tomorrow, another said they no longer carried the prescription. It was for our dog. Well, they stocked it -- they indicated they only have dog drugs if they also are human drugs (and I am always surprised how much overlap there is), and this specific pill fell in that category. So we were all set. My wife shopped for our other needs, such as a bottle of Pinot Noir to bring to a Christmas supper. Although I am not someone who shops to shop, if I were forced to browse the aisles here I would not complain, because there are always surprises.

Finally, I needed to get a gallon of reduced fat milk, and a couple of frozen Amy's Bowls frozen dinners, which should carry me through the rest of the week. It was a combination of plusses and minuses. First, I thought the store was quite clean and well stocked, always a good thing. I would have expected the produce area to be larger though. The meat department was again well stocked and clean, though some of the seafood, particularly the salmon, did not look fresh. They carry their Care One line of personal care items that I buy in my local stores. Prices seem a bit steeper down here, probably a result of the location. But in fairness, not having visited a lot of other grocery stores in the area, I can't say whether these prices are competitive or not. But most items not on sale were typically 10% more expensive than where I shop at home. The parking lot is inadequate for the amount of business they do, and I think they would have benefited from some additional entrances and exits. You do need to proceed with caution and keep a watchful eye when driving through it.

It's under an apartment building, which makes it feel less like parking and more like playing a live-action game of Tetris with SUVs. Honestly, it's a little bananas (pun absolutely intended). But hey, what can you do? You survive the parking, and then you get rewarded with the magical land of Trader Joe's. Once you step inside, it's a completely different story. The store is bright, fresh, and easy to navigate. No wandering around like you're trapped in a corn maze--everything is right where you expect it. Within minutes, my cart went from "just eggs and milk" to "how did I end up with three bags of frozen dumplings, Cookie Butter, and enough snacks to survive the apocalypse?" The food? Always fresh. The produce section is unbeetable (sorry, couldn't resist). The frozen aisle? A greatest hits collection of comfort food. And the snacks? Dangerous. You don't go to Trader Joe's to stick to a list--you go to "accidentally" find new obsessions. And don't even get me started on the seasonal items. I fall in love, get attached, and then they disappear faster than free samples. (RIP pumpkin kringle, gone too soon.) The staff here are the real MVPs. Everyone is friendly, cheerful, and ready to help. Need to find something? They'll walk you to it. Buy a new snack? They'll tell you the best way to enjoy it. The cashiers are basically snack therapists--nodding along, validating my frozen orange chicken addiction like it's a completely normal life choice. And of course, the flowers. Somehow Trader Joe's has the power to convince me I'm the kind of person who always has fresh flowers at home. For $5, my kitchen suddenly looks Pinterest-worthy, and my groceries feel fancier than they actually are. So yes--the parking is tight, but the payoff is worth it. Trader Joe's is the breadwinner of grocery stores (get it?). It's the place where you come for groceries but leave with joy, snacks, and probably a bag of peanut butter pretzels you never knew you kneaded.
