I love TJs. When I am home in Goleta, I am there at least a couple of times a week it seems. Their low prices can't be beat! Also, the staff members are always so upbeat and cheery, it rubs off on you. I love their return policy-no receipt needed and no questions asked. I rarely have any returns but every once in a while if I try a product I don't particularly like it's great to be able to so easily get my money back. TJs really has the best customer services. Despite long lines a lot of the time, they do move pretty quickly and efficiently. I love their selection of vegan foods as well. It's fun how they always seem to be getting new products in. read more

Lived out of state for awhile and really missed Trader's great food and specialty items (ie try the pop-up sponges; special dark chocolate bars; thick hand done tortillas; different naan breads; good coffee selection) Wide variety of frozen entrees, interesting frozen veggies, rice, sauces (curries great!). A very happy staff happy to serve will answer your questions and guide you to your item. Due to the competition among grocers, the workers in the large chain stores in town have now stopped being so snarky with customers and some come close to Trader's service, but Trader's cornered the market as a pleasant place to shop with good prices years ago. Free small samples of coffee and food round out the friendly atmosphere. read more

Been going to TJ's for over a decade and yesterday I had the most amazing experience thus far! Was being helped by Joe, who had the sauciest silver and lavender ombre hair!!! He was so enthusiastic, helpful, and even read my mind!! I couldn't find the lentils for my bruschetta and gave up and went to check out. I loved Trader Joe's. Once upon a time they could do no wrong in my eyes. Recently though, they have fallen a few notches. I bought some fresh (I thought it was) stew meat. It had a fresh by date of about two weeks. It looked ok from what I could tell through the package. I was planning on using the meat only two days after purchasing. I didn't think I should freeze it being that it would be used so quickly. Upon opening the package after only two days of purchasing, I noticed a horrible smell & parts of the meat had already turned black. I decided to immediately return the package in exchange for another. Thinking, ok, they had an off day. No biggie. Even though the package fresh date was well within a two week period. They have never failed me before & everyone is allowed the token faux pas. Well, when I went there to exchange the package for another, I noticed a 6 cent difference between the two. I figured no way they will care about that. I'm sure it will just be an even exchange considering they sold me rancid meat which looked fine the day I bought it. No dice. They actually charged me 6 cents!!!!! Really????? I paid it, but was super disappointed. I always thought Trader Joe's was more about the customer, & not about the corporate dollar. It was an eye opener. I will still shop there but, I have since been shopping more at other grocers. Very surprised & disappointed. read more

Excellent alternative products, though they are a bit weak in the produce section. I especially enjoy the selection in beverages, nuts, and bread. The produce is improving - it would be nice if they could buy more from local farmers. The staff is friendly and efficient. read more

i love T.J.s and have been going since I was a child (although not a this location). However, even though this location gets EXTREMELY busy, everyone who works there is social, friendly, and the food is always in great condition. The only thing I dont ever buy from T.J.s is bread because it goes bad fairly quickly (as in overnight). love T.J.s, and the only other place i shop is whole foods for the most part. healthy, yummy, and awesome! read more

I shop here regularly when I'm in town and the customer service is always great, but last night's was exceptional. A TJ member named Joe came up to me and asked if there was anything he could help me with, and was SO helpful, not only with making wine recommendations, but also making suggestions for other products and for healthier options (in a non-condescending manner). After spending 5 hours in the horrific traffic jam, he made me feel welcomed, listened to, and very appreciated. He went out of his way to brighten my evening! Thumbs up, thanks Joe! read more

good chain of stores; i love their selection. the goleta location is cool, safe for the bad floor-plan, particularly the produce area. the isles get way too narrow at some points--the structures are not parallel but rather almost intersect. customers and even employees sometimes bumping into others because of the floor-plan. they should really do something about that. other than that, no complaints really, but the annoyance of the traffic in that place sometimes really influences whether you like going there. read more

Trader Joe's is the best market in Goleta. When I moved into the area, I considered TJ's to be a specialty store, not an alternative to the big supermarket chains. Over the years, however, I've come to realize that Trader Joe's trumps the big supermarkets in every way. They have good prices, good products, and good service.
