They sell rotten flowers! We bought tulips today, but because of the packaging you could not see the quality of them, the buds looked fresh. The receipt was trow away instantly. When I opened the package at home, all the tulips were rotten and moldy, so I cut them very short. Very upset. Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, and Vans have better-quality flowers, and it is always fresh. read more

I went in to return some old, crappy chicken. I spoke with Mario on the phone before going in to clarify the process. Once I got in, it was an exercise in finding out just how rude and insubordinate the checkers, Bobby and Jim could be. Bobby is immature and angry and takes it out on the customers. Jim is just a fool who refuses to do his job and has this creepy way of getting you to go off on him, it's like he enjoys it. The manager Trevor just gives lip service to their behavior as apparently, it's been going on for years (see Yelp review about Jim from 2 years ago). Basically, this is a toxic and abusive environment where no female checkers remain...gee wonder why. You have to complain to corporate since it's the only way to expose their bad behavior. I've been shopping various Ralphs in L.A. for 10 years and only had one kook of a checker. This spot is beyond reality. The ONLY person who acts like an adult and is always cool is Andy, the tall young white guy with dark hair and a big smile. He's like the antidote for this sh*t show. read more

Mostly all the workers are absolutely rude and not helpful at all. There's a tall black cashier who always snaps his fingers at people from his check out line to go to self check out. The freezer aisle is leaking water constantly and it smells horrible. Take the trip and go to another store. read more

This grocery store has the most friendly and generous staff I have ever met, anywhere. I'm always greeted with a smile, and have never had an issue receiving assistance from an employee. It is often to find upper level management close by when checking out, which speeds any questions or concerns at the end of your visit. A++ read more

I give 5 stars to the employee at self checkout (can't remember his name)! He always helps us at self checkout with a smile! He's always very helpful, patience and polite to us! I never write reviews but today the produce lady (Dia) gave us an attitude when we asked for a certain produce. This place sucks, but at least Debbi is retiring. Expect an improvement in morale once she's gone. Consistently rude to customers and openly disdainful of her employees. Managers like her are why grocery stores have unions (even if she's in it). Employees seem sick of all the bs, and rightfully so. If you have a bad experience here, blame the bad-apple long-time managers who spread misery like it's a perk of the job. David B. is a piece of work too, that guy will bully teenagers. I hope customers can find half the patience and respect the employees show them, even when that tolerance seems thin. Props to Catriona, Miguel, Bereket, and several other long-timers who have stuck it out despite insultingly meager wages and, frankly, an abusive work environment. It's 9:30 pm on a Saturday evening. I was just in this Ralph's store, shopping with my 5 year old daughter. We were just wondering about, as we were trying to kill time. As I'm not a complete idiot, I noticed that the same person Was continuously following me. She's a real real heavyset gal, who looks like she might rip your head off at any moment. Anyway, she was trying to pretend that she wasn't following us, but it was really hard for her to do, because she's really bad at her job. I don't know why they chose me to follow. But it was hilarious, because while she was following me, 2 sets of people walked out with stolen goods. The store never even noticed. She even went as far as purchasing items, at the exact same time that I checked out. What really blew her cover, is when she walked to her car, to put her "groceries" away, but then walked back into the store, and never came back out. The first set of people who stole, were clearly under age high school kids. I even walked by these kids, two or three times intentionally, hoping that she would notice what they were doing, but she didn't. She did not notice whatsoever. They stole three bottles of alcohol. The second set, was a very well-dressed couple, they stole health and beauty goods. It must be embarrassing for the store, when the people in the store who are stealing, are laughing at the loss prevention officer. After she walked back into the store, Someone approached my car. They told me that they were an off-duty police officer, and showed me there badge. They confirmed what I had indeed suspected, which was that my family had probably been "profiled" and that was why I was being followed. While I was shopping, my husband was waiting in the car. He came into hand me my wallet, as I had forgot it. My husband and daughter are Hispanic, and they are both very very dark. After he left the store, is when I noticed The scrutiny became very intense. This officer who approached me, was incredibly nice, and told me that he would support and back any complaint that I would make. He also noticed, the other people in the store who were stealing as well, and said that he would be following up with the store on Monday, to make a compliant, and to make sure someone is made accountable. So, if the store and this particular LPO, are reading this. DO BETTER. Please please get this woman more training, and please know that there will be a reckoning to this situation. To anyone who wants to steal, I highly highly recommend this store. They don't know there ass from a hole in the ground. The LPO looks like this: white, 45 +, Short, obese, and just looks very angry, like a sad sour puss face permanently. read more

I had no idea they still make really bad stores of this caliber. The merchandise offerings are OK in parts. Customer service? Oh, boy! A long line at the only manned cash register at 5:00pm. Then two employees yelling at each other arguing whether or not to open another register. When it came to our turn the cashier was as surly and snarky as humanly possible. When we asked him where we can get a Ralph's store card, he merely shoulder-pointed into a vague direction without even looking at us. We figured the little unmanned desk with some messy array of stuff behind it was supposed to be the vaguely pointed at customer service desk. Waiting ... waiting ... An employee came and did something behind the desk while ignoring us. I asked her to help us, and she rushed away saying some one would come. No one did. In order to avoid Mr. Surly Pants, I asked a cashier at a newly opened register to page someone, and, without looking at us, she informed us she's busy at the cash register. Waiting ... waiting ... Another customer informed us that the store had bad customer service ... as though we hadn't noticed. Finally an employee came to the desk, and after some confusion he found a card and said he didn't know anything about the Ralph's account we had opened online, and he made it quite clear that he didn't care either. All of the employees we encountered were surly and borderline rude, giving customers the impression that they are bothering them. Most certainly, none of them seemed happy to be there, and all of them seemed really stressed. At the entrance there was a help-wanted sign ... Yeah, sure! read more

The ad says subject to fishing and weather conditions, but I was told by store employees that they had no crab for sale because of Covid. They won't give a rain check . Covid lockdowns have been around since March - that means 10 months now. I think they should sell the product at the advertised price or provide a rain check. GREAT DELI MAN! I'm used to having my meat sliced any which way but the way I order it at market deli counters in Santa Barbara. When I say THIN, I usually get it about the thickness of a piece of a cardboard box. The Deli Gent at Ralph's Goleta this afternoon changed all that. He was meticulous to my instruction and perfect on weight. He should probably be slicing at the White House! I'm goping to try and save up my deli orders for the day or so I may be in Goleta each week. No more putting up with rude service and face tattoos at other market delis. Ralph's is solid. In contrast to the relatively nearby Von's and Albertsons, it has nice wide aisles that aren't overly crowded with products and it's pretty clean, though the carts are pretty beat up. Highlights include the large beverage selection, the fact that they carry the food I give my dog, and they rent carpet cleaners. Sometimes the lines can take forever, but that happens less often than at the other grocery stores. Prices are very reasonable, especially compared to all the high end markets popping up all over town. read more

I had originally gone to Vons to buy some Abuelita Chocolate but they had none-.- I arrived to Ralph's and quickly rushed in as I was short on time. I scanned the signs looking for hot chocolate section. I wandered down an aisle and a worker named Tom shelving some items said "Hi, how are you today?" I was in a hurry but greeted him then asked if he could tell me where to find Hot chocolate. He said he was new but help me. He directed me quickly and I was so happy. Early morning Wednesday, first week August, many delivery personnel were stocking shelves with sagging bandannas below their chins. Many young people shopping during senior hour. Lots of bare shelves in many sections. Check stands jammed together, lanes squeezed in. Ralphs employees courteous but store is under staffed and dirty. Hardly any carts and no effort made to clean them - since they took away the wipes, you have to provide your own, if you can find them. One check stand open with line of 12 people, no baggers at all. Sign says if you bring bags, you have to bag your own. If not, you have to bag your own anyway and get charged for bags. Dreadful experience. read more

Ralphs Goleta has a terrific online shopping/pickup option. Great website to shop online easily - easier than wandering the shelves in pandemic fog trying to find something- and then select a pickup time. You alert them when you're on your way, then park in a pickup space and call. Nicest people ever bring your groceries. Feels very safe during this time of a big surge in cases. How have we fallen this far? I know it's hard to find good help these days but seriously, 1 checker with a line down the middle isle. Sadly I dropped a plastic juice container that spilled onto the floor while loading the groceries. The checker ran to get paper towels and did the best he could with the line backing up down the isles. I took over and sopped some of it up so he could finish ringing the gal in front of me. My partner went to look for the shift manager, and boy was she a piece of work. Standing two registers over texting on her phone, never looked up. When my partner finally got her attention away from her phone, she came over and questioned me as to why it happened. Why does that matter? get some more towels and a mop and get it cleaned up. Instead, she stood in the line between me and my bf and holding her stomach said "I don't feel good, I feel sick". They WHY are you working? Why are you even standing here so close to people? When the checker asked her to help with the mess, she said her "anxeity" was too high and she couldn't. He shook his head and rolled his eyes. I felt bad for him. For her? She has literally no business in any supervisory roll if she can't deal with some liquid on the ground and too many people in line waiting to check out. Won't be back to this Ralphs. Order a birthday cake 2 weeks ago and they called the day before the birthday and told me they can't make the cake because they did not have the cake topper without offering any solution. Not sure if they realized how mess up this is. They left me no time to order another cake from different bakeries since every place requires at least 48 hour notice. It's just unbelievable. Whenever I need anything grocery wise, I always choose to go here! Even though Vons is closer, the prices at Ralph's seem better... they have a wider selection of the items I need, too. I love Ralph's iPhone integration! I can add coupons to my card when I'm browsing the store. The app also helps me locate what aisle the hard-to-find items are in. Service is very friendly here. I have had some accidents a few times here and the staff was right there to help me out. Meat department staff is also very friendly. They can offer you advice about pairings, sales, etc. Checkout has never really been a problem here for me.... it gets busy at times, but they always seem to have a lot of lanes open, and can add more anytime they see lines getting too long. Plenty of help here! I choose Ralph's because it's convenient, offers great prices, wide selection of items, and has a great staff. Thank you, Ralph's Hollister! read more

No checkers!! Who knew? I asked if they had any checkers and the employee told me that their shift hadn't started yet.

This was my very first time walking into Ralph's, I was trying to look for my own personal items that I did not feel comfortable asking for help with the employees. Yet, an older man, tall, to be honest I didn't even see a name tag asked my friend and I if we needed any help and we nodded our heads no. So we continued to look for our items and I can clearly tell he was following us, aisle by aisle. As my friend and I noticed this, we decided not to get anything because we felt uncomfortable and as we started walking out of the store, the older man was at the front entrance and had stopped us asking us "what you got?" Never have I ever felt more profiled in my life as a Hispanic person. Sure it was 1am and might've seemed sketch, sure I'm young, but clearly I had nothing on me as I lifted my shirt and showed him my pockets and this man had the audacity to simply walk away and not even apologize. As I read other previous reviews I can see that this is certainly a common issue that Ralph's and their workers must be held accountable for. read more

The store over all is great. The deli is great. The sushi bar is real good. The deli prepared hot foods are less that great, except the chicken is ok. The sweet and sour chicken is best described as dried golf balls marinated in sweet and sour sauce. The onion rings are like deep fried shoe strings. read more

If this place was a dude, I'd sooo date him. My starter broke in front of this Ralphs and they let me leave my car parked up front for 3 days. As for the store: People in Santa Barbara generally don't smile when you walk into their store or ask if you need help or have been helped.. that's because all those friendly people are working at this Ralphs! I am treated so kindly when I go to this place and for me, that is more than a customer could ask for. The merchandise is always stocked, the checkers are friendly, sometimes the baggers are even witty, the manager was super nice to me when my car wouldn't start. There is a Natural Foods, bank, thrift store, Super Cuts, and neighborhood bar (Monty's) in the same shopping center so it's kind of a one-stop-shop deal. I'm lucky to live near it :) read more

CHECK YOUR RECEIPT! Don't go here - just go to Von's down the street. The few times I went here, they over-charged me. Once it was for meat that was "on-sale" - looked at the receipt in my car and saw that it was not the sale price - we had paid double. Getting a refund was like pulling teeth. Second time it was some stupid cookies - they were stacked on a table with a sign saying $2.99 - they charged us 6.99. It was a measly $4 but we were still in the store so thought it would be an easy fix - NOT!!! FRUSTRATING and not worth it. I will never shop here again. read more

Ralphs can't seem to get their employees to follow simple mask wearing rules. Stopped shopping at the downtown Santa Barbara Ralphs for this reason, but thought I'd check out the one on Hollister in Goleta, hoping for a better experience. Unfortunately, the experience is the same. Both employees servicing the produce department couldn't get this right - one wore the mask on their chin (not covering their nose or mouth), the other wore it below their nose. These are the people that are in the store for hours at a time. My experiences at Vons in Montecito and Cliff drive have been much better - that's where I'll shop from now on. read more

Quality and customer service are slipping. The last time I bought fish here it was mushy... I assume it had been frozen. Also, the way they display wine prices is unethical. The wine has two prices, a low price if you buy more than six bottles and a higher price if you don't. The problem is that the signs have the six-bottle price in 3-inch lettering and the real price (if you buy one bottle) in half-inch lettering. This is very deceiving marketing and as a result I no longer buy wine here. read more

Ralphs is a great store but they should have a sign at the self check out that lets you know you can not purchase alcohol at self check out. We were made aware of this after we scanned our items then had to wait in the check out line to purchase our alcohol. What made it worse was only one check out line was open.
