It's great to have it nearby, and sometimes exasperating. It's a dysfunctional relationship. I like to walk into a grocery store and know where to find things. At Trader Joe's, if it isn't there, it might be somewhere else or it might not be there at all for now, moved somewhere else, or discontinued and never be there again. (Korma fish curry, Vienna lager, hot links, Bibimbap, Helles Bock, etc.) But they have some really great stuff, too. They're the store I wish I didn't like. But I keep going back. read more

They are both great gentleman, very nice, ask me lots of questions about myself I felt like I was welcomed to Trader Joe's. Tegan likes music and it was cool to hear him to talk about the music. I don't know who the manager is at this store, but they are a rockstar. I went today, during the COVID-19 outbreak. I hope when you are reading this it's a faint memory. It is a scary and heartbreaking time for our country. This store had 6 feet apart chalk lines out front along with 2 employees. 1 to explain the system, and 1 to sanitize the carts. They also had several employees inside to manage social distancing, employees wearing gloves and still sanitizing. This store has taken charge of a serious situation and it's amazing. I appreciate their thoroughness. I would gladly wait 20 more minutes knowing they are keeping their employees and customers safer. I actually only had to wait 6 minutes. Trader Joe's is the best whether you are home or away. While on a long road trip we popped in to grab snacks. Adrian, our cashier, was friendly and polite as we chatted about good snack combos. When I mentioned my disappointment that bambas were gone he went and grabbed bambas that I didn't see and gave them to me without charge.(Since I had already paid for my groceries) what a nice gesture and excellent customer service. Its small, but wow. I'm constantly surprised when I fill my cart with groceries for the week and come out spending much less than I do at other larger Grocery Stores. I love the wide selection of foods from around the world that I can finally make at home. Always great tasting and good for you. Most products are great. Love the wraps, fresh veggies and baked goods, the cracked wheat sourdough is wonderful, the ice creams and proof/bake croissants yummy. The Arribiato is divine. The belgian chocolate bars are a bargain, frozen goods are perfect. Not so tasty: The Pesto sauce is Nasty with a capitol "N". Compari tomatoes came with lots of critters hatching after a few days. Persian cucumbers must be used within a few days or they get slimy. Tried all the coffees, bleh. read more

Trader Joe's likes to capitalize on their locations- Petaluma is focused on eggs&dairy, Napa has its wines, Boston has its historic landmarks. But what makes Corvallis distinctive? The city's official motto was "enhancing community livability"-however, what makes the city different from any other college town? It comes across as generic, tho its Welcome sign incorporates local landmarks like the courthouse, there's the OSU beaver mascot. This is small for a TJ's, despite its academic setting. It can be crowded when school is in session. TJ's almond butter used to be made in Oregon (not sure now) If you want groceries that focus more on local products, like the Willamette Valley, you're better off at Market of Choice or First Alternative. However, TJ's tend to be cheap so if you need to stock up for an eclipse, this is the place to go. read more

Great store, mostly. The best thing about TJs is that the employees are quite helpful and cheerful. The quality of their items is mostly superior. There have been a few things that were not so good, rib eye steaks for instance were not up to par in my opinion. I've also tried several of their coffee varieties and have yet to find a really good one. We do like several TJs items that you can't get anywhere else and we go there for those items almost exclusively. I'm a fan, but only for certain things. I'll still do the bulk of my shopping at the old reliables in town. read more

Trader Joe's is so awesome, and this location is no exception! They have all the goodies that you may find at any Trader Joe's, and maybe even some regional specialties. I think the hazelnut business in Oregon is on the rise because this is the first and only location so far that I have found to have Oregon hazelnuts for sale. That's definitely unique and worth picking up if you like hazelnuts and haven't had any before. The staff here is so nice and go pick up a specialty Oregon reusable shopping bag in the process. I'm a newbie to OR and this was my first time visiting this Trader Joes, it's huge compared to other ones I've been to. My youngest daughter and I walked up and down the aisles looking at all the fall yummy's. We will definitely be back, I brought home the flyer so my oldest and husband can look at it and see anything they want. It's a bummer that it's 20 minutes away from our house but we will just have to bring an ice chest next time. =0) Great customer service as well. Trader Joes is OPEN OPEN OPEN!! And now everyone from in between Salem and other southwardly places are going to swarm this place. I give them a good 4.5 stars since I feel like they're smaller than the other TJ's I've been to but they still pack a lot. Then again I did hear that they sold out a lot of things off their shelves and had to re-stock it with other things. Damn. Came here on the afternoon of opening day with my roommate and it was a sea of people. I can say that I've never seen a crowd like this outside of Reser and Peacock at a grocery store. Party at TJ's!!! ... maybe not. My sister requested that I get these Dutch waffle cookie things and that's all i came for since I was leaving town for the weekend. Who knew there could be more than just one big ass line in Corvallis too!! haha Hey, this will be good for the Corvallis economy. NOTE: People do not know how to drive here... i suggest you park further away and enjoy a nice walk to/from TJ's and stay away from drivers who are stalking people who may seem like they're walking to their cars. Ughh, this Trader Joes is so depressing. TJs is pretty much one of my all time favorite places to go and I was excited to see Corvallis have one. That was short lived though once I found out how over priced this place was. I heard it was because they were competing with the food co-op? I have no idea. All the ones I went to in California were sooo cheap. They also don't stock up on their produce and they have a poor selection of items. The staff is nice and friendly thank goodness. One thing I love about Trader Joe's is the restrooms. It seems like I always have to pee when I'm in a grocery store. What is that phenomenon? These aren't the stinky stuffy broken door no hook bathrooms of Fred Meyer or Walmart or Safeway. The TJs bathrooms have four hooks for purses, cameras, backpacks or diaper bags, a changing table for babies, wheelchair accessible rails, a lower sink for kids or those in wheelchairs and one of those super efficient hand dryers. Plus they feature their own products in there - French soaps and all-natural air fresheners. They really do want you to relax and stay a while. read more

You go to Trader Joe's as much for the discoveries as the necessities. Once you become a regular, you'll find yourself buying less at the supermarket and more at the TJ's. Better quality, interesting, and just more fun. Simple things I try to only buy there: Peanut butter, enchilada sauce, soup, chocolate, pasta...and on and on. Believe me, you'll find your list. Love this place, after they first opened I resisted going for the longest times. Now its one of my family's favorite stores. They have the friendliest staff and are always willing to go the extra mile. We have been given so many suggestions by staff and they get to know you pretty quick. A lot of the staff know us on sight and are quick to ask about how we are doing or about a product they think we will like. Their gluten free options are amazing and their is a decent section. I do wish they would carry some of the seasonal items longer. We regret only buying one box of the gluten free pumpkin pancake mix. I know pretty much nothing I buy there is going to have the nasty stuff like HFCS or really gross preservatives... great place to stop for a quick lunch option... or some decent cheap wine... or roasted plantain chips... and did I mention the chocolate?? Oh, as per usual with all TJ locations they are usually very busy... but if you like to shop early Saturday mornings are almost always crowd free!! It's great to have a TJ locally. If nothing else, the presence of Trader Joes will force other groceries (1st Alternative, are you reading?) to dramatically improve their quality, selection, and prices, or die. However, TJ is but a shadow of its 1980s self, and the quality of many items has taken a huge dive. Bakery goods are now simply awful (the tortillas and baguettes in particular, BLECH!!), and often nuts, chips, etc, have a rancid smell - probably having been shipped across the country in warmish trucks. Most TJ and no-name brand beers and wines are horrible. This did not used to be the case, and it is sad to see the quality decline so badly. On the up side: Trader Joes is the place to buy spices, dairy products, nut butters, oils, honey, and increasingly meat. They carry Draper Valley Farms chickens - and if you have not ever tried one, do yourself a favor. As Julia said: "They taste chickeny" and roast beautifully. And while the produce is pretty good, you have to wonder how it stays so fresh looking. I'll opt for the farmer's Market between April and October. Yes, the staff is wonderful. On the down side, it's cheap prices on these normally high markup items that pose a threat to local retailers, so weigh your purchasing ethics carefully in order to determine whether it is really important to practice what so many preach. Me, personally? I buy this stuff at Trader Joes when I'm in town. read more

They have quite a variety of curious and tasty foods, plus organic and other diet-specific stuff. They also give out free samples every day! The Bad: Prices can be a little higher than your average supermarket, but no more so than say the Co-op. They also never have wine tasting at the time listed, at least the several times I've been there. The Ugly: The occasional college kid stumbling in at 8PM for sushi and an Odwalla in his pajamas. Since we don't have one in Hawaii, this place is always a must, esp the cookie butter! Selection for trail mix and other healthy food are amazing!
