Bought a new house in the fall and it didn't have a deck, just a sad little concrete pad. We…read morethought adding a deck would be a nice touch, so I began to research local companies. After talking to a lot of various builders about decks, I chose to work with Kyle and Woodcrest Construction. From the beginning, Kyle was prepared, on time, professional, and affordable. Cost was an issue for me, and Kyle's quote was right in the sweet-spot compared to others...no where near the highest, but a little more than the low-end builders. However, I could sense he would do quality work. He started the project on time, and finished on time...in fact, he would have finished early had the weather not been bad one day. The budget was right on target, no extras, no hidden fees, nothing that he didn't tell me off in advance. The craftsmanship was outstanding. really good. I have been on some decks that wobbled, and moved. My deck is solid and strong. Its a huge deck, and he built it well. I would highly recommend Kyle and his team!

Instead of tearing down our whole deck, he removed all the decking and railings and kept the supporting structure (which was in perfect shape). They replaced the old deck with beautiful Trex composite decking and railings. Basically we got a Trex deck for the same price others quoted a pressure treated wooden deck! The new design was very attractive with professional workmanship. I wouldn't hesitate to used Woodcrest!

Nobody imagined all the roadblocks that would happen during this project (lumber prices, covid, obtaining permits and on). We did our due diligence in regards to selecting Total Deck. This whole experience really shows how dedicated all of you work to get this pergola installed. Words are not enough to thank you for going the extra mile to ensure this was done properly. We were so happy that it was completed without needing to close the pool too. Thank you again for the hard work!

Heather, my point of contact and their office administrator was aloof and lacked some basic professional communication skills, those are detailed below. I'd still recommend their crew for small, straightforward deck work, but for anything more comprehensive, be prepared to put in time to manage the project. The Job: I had Total Deck Care re-stain my 12x12 foot deck. Work included powerwashing, a light sand, and 1 coat of stain. No boards were replaced. Pros: - Speed and quality of work (~3 hours to complete above between 2 resources, spread across 2 days) - Quote review and invoice payment process was fully automated Cons: - Communication was abysmal - No formal notification of when the crew would arrive (morning or night) until 6am the day of. - No details regarding payment, whether I needed to be present for the work, did I need my deck cleared etc. - No follow-up after the work was complete to see if the work was done to my satisfaction.

He had to change to 12:15PM the day before, so I agreed. Once here, he put together everything, but I was a bit worried with him carrying heavy parts of the furniture down the steps because he is a bit older and doesn't seem to be in the best shape. I didn't want him to fall going down the steps. He put everything together and it all looked good. He quickly left after I payed.

I will say that he did go above and beyond to help me find the right hinges for a fair price, and he seemed like such a nice guy! He came back a few weeks later with his caulking man (George) and also to fix some uneven cabinet doors from when he installed the soft close hinges. We went through the house and I showed him and George the areas I wanted to be re-caulked: around the kitchen counters, a powder room sink, upstairs tub and bathroom, and laundry room sink. Surprisingly, they were done in less than 90 minutes! I was outside when they finished and were getting ready to leave. Probably my mistake, but I trusted that he did a good job since he talked up George's caulking work so much. I should have gone in and taken a look myself. He didn't ask me to take a look at the work before leaving (a habit that good contractors should have, in my opinion). When I took a closer look after they left, I was very disappointed. The caulking in the kitchen was messy looking-lumpy and edges were not smooth. There were areas that had dirt stuck in the caulking and there was caulk on my tile and cabinets. Then I noticed that he overlooked the powder room. I texted him and told him so and also commented on how the caulking job was not very neat. He replied that he didn't know about the powder room, that it "wasn't on his list". We then talked on the phone, and he was incredibly defensive and insisted that I didn't ask him to caulk the powder room. Ridiculous since George had gone in there with me and even pulled some of the old caulking off and left it on the sink! He just never went back to finish the job. Earl insisted that it wasn't on his "list", but his "list" is only in his mind. He doesn't write anything down! Anyways, he defended George, saying that his work was "perfect". I was taken aback by his defensiveness and unwillingness to admit any wrongdoing. He spoke in an annoyed and rude tone to me. If a customer is unhappy with your work then you apologize and try to see what you can do to fix it. You don't get defensive and rude and basically make him/her feel like they are wrong to complain. Sheesh. I'm very sorry it turned out this way, but I'm back to looking for a new handyman.
