You want people to donate stuff and then make sure it is pristine to be stuck right on the shelf. If that is there expectation, then they are not really selling for charity purposes but to make a profit because anyone that really needs help would not really care if it was 100% or not as long as it met their needs. IMO, they can take the time to make it look the way they want. All they want to do is just collect money. The IRS really needs to evaluate all of the YMCA thift stores because I firmly believe they are not operating as a 501c3 but are really a for profit organization. Have you seen their prices? Somethings are higher than what you would pay at stores. They are not trying to sell to those in need but to those that can afford their prices. A true charity would price the stuff to move and would not care if items that were sold were bought to be resold. I am not the one that buys to resell but the one that gives stuff to these stores to be sold but no more. I will give it to a nonprofit that actually cares.

Since the housewares are now priced close to retail, who cares? The best thing about the Y is it's only 3 blocks to the North Main Goodwill. If you like your thrift stores really shabby, try the Salvation Army in Fairlawn. Better lighting and way better prices, for instance all clothing is $1.

I visited the Christiansburg, VA Old Navy store on November 22, 2022. I had a few online items…read morethat I needed to return. I came in around 10:00 am. The store was not busy as it was a Tuesday and the store had just opened for the day. Honestly, I chatted online with Old Navy customer service about their return policy. The rep I chatted with was not helpful and that is why I decided to try and get further help from someone in person. A few of my items were several months past the return date. Some of the items were a few weeks old. A few I had just received a few days prior. So I needed to see if I could get any money back, a store credit, or do I need to try and sell the goods to consignment. When I walked in there was a young lady (in a pink sweatshirt and black leggings with shoulder length hair) that was restocking the goodies around the registers. (I'm truly sorry I did not catch her name because she was very nice.) She was able to complete the returns for a couple of my purchases back to my original payment method. For the older things I needed to return, she said something along the lines of, 'Sorry I am unable to return these.' I asked, 'would I be able to get a store credit on any of them?' And with lightning speed she said, "I'll have to get a manager to do that." She then calls for the manager, Amanda. Amanda was super charismatic! I explained that I discussed all my returns with Customer Service and they were not helpful. Amanda empathized with my situation stating that she also has gotten stuck with items she was unable to return because the return window had already expired. She then went the extra mile and returned most of my remaining items back to the original payment. Considering this was just a few days before the holiday season would be in full swing, I needed every penny they were able to return. The kindness and wonderful customer service that these ladies showed me that day deserves a stellar review. After my chat with customer service I was about to give up on ever buying ANYTHING from Old Navy or their affiliates ever again. Now, I am so happy I decided to go into the store because I will gladly shop there again and recommend this store to friends and family. Thank you.

What a joy it was to walk in and find every machine operating, everything was spotlessly clean, and the prices were very reasonable. They have lots of conveniences like rechargeable, laundry cards that you can get for frequent visits, etc. All the machines had credit card options, although I used good old-fashioned cash. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner and she was very nice. You know when you've met somebody that cares about the service they provide you. She does. He was very quick to step in and show not only her, but 2 seasonal hires that seemed to be training that day, how to apply those to the sale.
