Probably the coolest and widest selection of animals in one spot I've seen in a long time; everything from tree frogs rats to axolotls to ferrets to snails to cats to snakes to.. are those quails?! Is that a freaking Kookaburra?! They have a fascinating and wide selection, they have a beautiful Bengal cat walking around who is CLEARLY an employee because he kept a close eye on me as I checked out the rats and then retreated into the "Authorized Personnel Only" area to take his break. Prices seemed fair and the employees seem friendly and concerned about the longevity of their animals. There are lots of signs educating customers, encouraging good practices even for their live feeder crickets, and it's clear they are involved in the local community. The slew of negative reviews in a row feels targeted and they are not warranted.. This was an amazing find!

She turned the Open sign on but did not unlock the front door. I waited a few minutes then called and asked if they were opened today. The employee was short with me and rude. She states she couldn't unlock the front door at 11:03 am because I bothered her by calling. She locks the door, doesn't even bother to open it and say welcome or good morning then proceeds to walk to the very back of the store. She failed to even turn on the lights so I could shop. I looked around couldn't see so I left and I will not be returning. I suggest everyone to go to Best Pets in Antioch or Something Fishy in Fox Lake where employees are respectful and helpful. ​​

My boyfriend and I just recently started going here to get a specialized food for one of our dogs that Angels with Tails only sold. We were pleasantly surprised just during our first visit. A sweet lady, who owns both the pet store and resale shop beside it, is very knowledgeable about what your dogs should and shouldn't be eating based on their size, breed, and specialties. To test her, I suggested that we needed Canidae for our dog who has a sensitive stomach, which is the furthest thing you should be feeding your dog with that problem. Straight away, she told me not to get that and to get Nutrisca (which is why we were there). She explained why we should be feeding our dog Nutrisca and not Canidae, which no other pet store owner/worker had felt the need to explain. After showing up where we could find our dog food, she suggested a few treats/bones for our dogs to chew on. A great saleswoman and also, again, very knowledgeable about pets. Now we always go here to get our pet needs. :) I would highly recommend this place!
