Why do they have this set up?! Otherwise, the selection is incredible- every brand plus their own DSG brand, which is good value for the quality. The whole store is huge. A giant concrete warehouse in Back Bay, it's kind of surreal and very cold and quiet. A big plus if you're downtown in the summer and looking for a vast dark space to decompress. The dressing rooms are great- they're all huge with big benches. Overall, this is a highly accessible store. A wheelchair or stroller can easily make it around. There are people around stocking and cleaning the fitting rooms, but otherwise you're blissfully left to browse with the option to ask if you need help. It is weirdly zen. Even with sales it is pretty spendy. They do have a lot of sales- easier to spot online- and their signature brand is lower price. If you walk over to the Nike store on Newbury it's the same price, so it just is what it is. I like the vibes, layout, and selection.

I decided to walk around the immediate area but came upon this location. Each of the individuals I encountered on this visit were friendly and capable. I decided to check out the new arrivals and the clearance area since they had a sign posted online about the deals. I also need two or three new shirts since my old ones were pretty stinky and old. I selected a pair of shoes and four shirts while I was in the store.

I swear, every store in Boston feels like the staff are doing you a favor, and walk around like lethargic former crack addicts on the last leg of withdrawal. You do get the occasional happy girl behind the counter at Nike on Newbury, but everyone else is pure molasses. Then I walked into Under Armour at the Pru, and everything changed. First, that ginormous torso with the Patriots t-shirt is just plain cool, but it gets better. I honestly felt like I was in Lululemon or Kit & Ace, where staff really engage you. I walked in there originally looking for sweatpants, but staff were so engaging that I walked out with 4 different types, and to this day, love every one of them. I'm hoping this isn't just new store enthusiasm, and really want to enjoy coming back in the future. For now though, this is the only sports retail store I look forward to on future shopping trips, and as always, their products are top notch. Keep it up!

I love getting to explore the store and always find something new. Although it's on the smaller side for an REI, it is bigger than it seems. They have decent selection of gear and brands - definitely all the essentials. You can order online as well to pick up at or ship to the store if a specific item is not available. I tend to utilize this if there is something specific (brand/color, etc) that I know I want and then it's super efficient to pick up. The staff is super nice and always happy to guide to the section you are looking for. They are also helpful if you are returning an item or exchanging and I love their commitment to sustainability in the community as well. I always see people down in the bike/repair area so that seems to be a super convenient option to have for a the cyclists in Boston. If you have an active lifestyle, this is the place for you to come on this side of the Charles River.

They told me at checkout that I would save money on my current purchase if I signed up (I asked them to confirm this so it was crystal clear), so I signed up. They then tell me AFTER I've made an account that my discount will be applied to my NEXT purchase. It felt like they wouldn't let me buy anything. They also said my friend was "bumming off of his girlfriend" for checking if she had an account to try to get him to sign up. The products were good and the store was well equipped, but someone at REI corporate needs to change how their employees are trained. Being pushy is not a good look, and quite frankly left such a bad taste in my mouth. Would never go here again.

SEAC: We don't carry that shoe Neill: Oh, well...I'm past my due on new shoes and was looking for a change. SEAC: We won't get that shoe for months. *end of conversation* (this would have been a great time to talk with me about what I like in a running shoe and help me understand that one of your models would be a great change!) Neill: Hi, what do you guys have for running hats/sweatbands? SEAC: We don't carry any. Neill: Nothing? SEAC: What do you need one for...? Neill: To keep the sweat from running down my forehead and burning my eyesight out that would send me running into traffic. SEAC: Yea, we don't carry anything. (Really...maybe I could wrap one of your numerous 'SEAC' T-shirts around my head, there were plenty of them) This would have been a great time to explore options such as; taking down my email and putting me on an update list when new products arrive or even going so far as to order a couple items in for me? I'm not sure what your business model is...but without more focus on service you are not going to win my loyalty. You can have pretty windows and a nice logo, but I can't imagine that pushing me over to city sports can be very good for your bottom line. I like to run and I like to do business in my neighborhood. Even though I love the idea of this business I can not give over two stars until they mature a little in their 'retail senses'.
