I am an aircraft owner and instrument rated pilot. I didn't receive any flight training from Top…read moreFlight Aviation; however, I had the pleasure of speaking with their General Manager, Pardis. I was on a flight near one of Top Flight Aviation's aircraft and I had a few safety concerns with the pilot that rented the aircraft. I called and spoke with Pardis and told him I wanted to debrief the flight with him. Pardis was very receptive and we discussed the rental pilots actions that gave way to my safety concerns. Pardis even went the extra mile and contacted the pilot who rented the aircraft and spoke with him about my concerns. Pardis then circled back around with me and validated my concerns after he spoke with the pilot who indicated that he had become complacent. I was EXTREMELY impressed with Pardis' professionalism and customer service!!!! His commitment to safety is impressive and with his leadership we can all become safer pilots!!!!

Top Flight is a great choice if you're looking for a Part 61 flight school. Their rates are very…read morereasonable and competitive in the area, and their policies are straightforward and fair. You won't feel burdened by rules potentially working against you, unlike at some other flight schools. Additionally, with all the advantages they offer, there are no "hidden fees." The charges are very fair compared to other places. Top Flight partners with a local mechanic shop based at Corona (KAJO), so any minor fixes or maintenance services are relatively quick compared to schools that need to relocate their planes to other airports. I personally had a minor issue during a preflight, and the mechanics quickly came to the parking area and fixed it on the spot. I was still able to fly the same day without cancellation. All their airplanes are well-maintained and follow FAA regulations, which gives peace of mind. Speaking of location, Corona Municipal Airport (KAJO) is a relatively relaxed and less busy, non-towered airport. This is ideal for training if you're just starting out, as there's no pressure from ATC. You can focus more on flying the plane with your CFI and practice your radio communications later when you're ready. Most of the time, KAJO is less busy compared to other airports with lots of flight schools and high traffic. You rarely waste time or money waiting on the ground for sequencing. However, because it's a relaxed, local airport, you should exercise more caution, as sometimes curious individuals might get too close to the taxiways or runway areas. As for the airplanes, Top Flight has plenty of Cessna 172s, from models N, M, and the SP. You can choose between traditional six-pack avionics or upgraded Garmin G5 with a Garmin GTN 650 touchscreen, depending on your needs. If you're looking for Technically Advanced Aircraft (TAA) or high-performance training, Top Flight has a Cessna 182T, fully equipped with the G1000 and KAP140 autopilot. It's a great, versatile performer for training or renting out for trips. Renting airplanes at Top Flight is hassle-free. Once you're checked out, booking your flight is easy. Dispatch is a DIY process--you simply pick up the keys and return them after your flight, so there's no need to worry about business hours or needing staff to be present. However, as a pilot, the responsibility for the flight always falls on you, so make sure to thoroughly perform all checks before taking off. Overall, the environment at Top Flight is relaxed and supportive. The staff members are kind and welcoming, and you can easily tell management has deep knowledge and passion for aviation. David and Pardis are always helpful if you have any questions or need guidance toward your training goals. For anyone considering flight training, just come and see for yourself--you'll notice the difference.

Not one to typically write reviews, but wanted to share my experience at this school. I started my…read moreprivate training here (I am now a CFI) and have been to a total of 5 flight schools throughout my training, due to moving for college. OCFL was unfortunately my least favorite by far. What caused me to eventually leave and find a new school was a transponder issue on my night flight to Camarillo. A transponder is required equipment when flying through LA airspace, and ATC reminded us that we are not allowed to fly through the LA airspace with this issue. My instructor wisely chose to land at Van Nguys Airport instead of (illegally) flying back to John Wayne. Yes it's inconvenient, but certainly the safe (and legal) choice. He called Omar, the owner, to notify him of this inconvenience. Omar then proceeded to get upset with my instructor because of the time and money it would cost to pick up the airplane in Van Nguys. Omar advised that my instructor should've just flown over LAX, at night, and pretended to not notice to issue. This was years ago, but since then I have only heard of similar negative experiences from other past students of this school. Now that I am further along in my training, I see how dangerous this money-over-safety mentality truly is. I write this review only in hopes for other aviators to look for safer flight school options or for this school to hopefully institute some safer practices. Thank you!

I got the introduction to flying package where they give you a quick tutorial on a very realistic…read moresimulator for about 10 to 15 minutes and then take you up into the air on one of their planes (in my case, the Cessna 172). My instructor was Nick, and he was absolutely wonderful. He was very supportive and congenial, taking his time to thoroughly and efficiently explain the basics. He was very encouraging and always made me feel safe. Part of the package had me actually take off, climb to about 2500 to 3000 ft and learn some basic maneuvers like a steep turn and going weightless by pulling up then pulling out on the throttle and diving - it was so exhilerating. The whole time Nick sat next to me keeping an eye on the millions of other things to keep us safe like monitoring air traffic for other nearby planes, handling the fuel mixture, and taking control of the plane when necessary. I have to say, it's got me interested at this point to going for a license. But if you're anyone who's ever wondered about what it's like to fly, I can't recommend NextGen (and more specifically instructor Nick) - it's a great price for the experience of a lifetime.

Buyer Beware - Undisclosed Expiration Fees…read more I purchased a Groupon for two discovery flights for $180.20. I later learned it expired on 11/8/25. Groupon's fine print states the amount paid remains redeemable after expiration. As of 1/9/26, the company's current price is $100 per flight (the original Groupon price was $93.60 each). When I called the number ending in 1110, I offered to use my credit and pay the difference. Instead, I was told there is an undisclosed expiration fee of $70 per voucher, totaling $140, charged for no reason other than expiration. They refused to apply my paid credit unless I paid this fee. This results in a $140 loss, despite the flight costing $100 today. This policy was never disclosed upfront and feels punitive and misleading. Due to this experience, my wife will not pursue her PPL with this company. If transparency matters to you, proceed with caution.

I relocated from the Bay Area to Riverside during my PPL training due to an Air Force PCS to March…read moreARB. I chose this school for convenience and because they advertised Piper Archers, which I had been flying, but upon arrival I was told they had sold them, so I transitioned to their Cessnas. After about 15 to 20 hours, I was becoming comfortable in the new aircraft. During a short field landing, I applied firm braking as part of the maneuver. On a hot day, the left main tire failed. I took responsibility and agreed to cover the cost of the tire replacement. I was then charged $300, while a document at their front desk clearly listed Tire and Labor as $222. When I raised the discrepancy, I was told over the phone the difference would be refunded. About a week later, I received an email stating the refund would not be issued and that the form had been rectified to match the higher price. Because of this incident, I was told I was not a good fit for the school and was advised to train elsewhere. Flight training is already a significant financial commitment, and situations like this make cost transparency even more important. The issue here is not the tire, it is the inconsistent pricing and reversal after acknowledging the discrepancy. Being shown one price and charged another, then having it changed after the fact, is not a good standard for a training environment. I would strongly recommend prospective students get all pricing and policies clearly in writing before committing, or consider training elsewhere.

Our instructor was great, I felt safe as I learned and he wasn't hesitant to any answer. He allowed me most of the flight to control minus part of the landing which I was ok with and it opened my eyes to the amount of multitasking a focus that's needed during flight. Before I left, he walked me through everything I need to kick off if I'd like to continue with schooling. 10/10
