I've been on my hair care journey for about 2 years now. Last year I decided i wanted to cut my hair short, and dye it black. Of course change is scary, but when I met Crystal she made me feel comfortable and confident. She's always been able to absolutely PERFECT any idea I've brought to her, she's managed to keep my hair perfectly lightweight, nicely layered, and found the right dyes for my hair. The salon is beautiful inside, with nice comfortable furniture, good music, and all the ladies here are so welcoming. I've been coming here for over a year now, and my hair has grown perfectly and healthily, I recommend to anyone who's needing something as simple as a trim or even as complicated as skunky highlights! We are still fairly new in town and figuring out our go-to places. Today my daughter was determined to get a haircut, so we walked in and got an appointment for half an hour later. We went and got dinner and came back and had to wait a while past the appointment time. But it was a walk-in, and at the end of the day. The salon is so very cute, full of fun details and up to date decor. It feels like a Pinterest paradise! They offer wine or coffee and generally make you feel right at home. Of course, the hair is the main thing, and my daughter loved her cut and the whole experience. Rachel was lovely and very fun. I'll be back for myself next time! read more

Too bad it took me 45 years to find my hair savior. She understands my hair, works incredibly fast and is one of the most reasonable and even-tempered stylists I have ever encountered. Attention curly girls: you have found your hair savior! Just like you I have searched all my life for a good haircut & then I found Elva. She cuts my 3b hair *dry* while holding scissors mostly up & down while cutting. All my ends seem to taper instead of ending bluntly. My hair feels lighter, curls are more defined as layers cascade down all while using less product. I don't know how she does it but it's like magic. Do you know what you are going to pay at a "deva" salon for a curly cut? Look one up and then see that the prices here are very modest. I never loved my hair until Elva! read more

Curly hair girls! You've got to give Tr3s a shot. After a bad haircut, I patiently waited for my hair to grow a bit so that I could find someone who could fix it up for me. I found Tr3s through Insta posts and Yelp reviews and I figured I had nothing to loose. I made an appointment (via text!) and showed up 2 weeks later. I would have preferred a sooner appointment, but VDay was right around the corner so they were pretty booked solid. I arrived a little early but seen promptly. I got highlights and a cut, which cost be about $170 plus tip. I left with beautiful layers, a shoulder length cut, and beautiful highlights. I will definitively return for my next cut. read more

I absolutely adored TR3S Salon! I needed a haircut badly especially after I dyed my hair, so I was looking all over yelp for a good hair salon near me. TR3S Salon popped up, and I remembered that I pass by this salon everyday to go to school downtown. My hair is rather wavy, and after reading the reviews of how this salon is perfect for curly hair, I thought I'd give it a try. I called on a Friday morning and they were able to squeeze me in for an appointment at 12pm that same day. The lady I spoke with on the phone was so nice! I was so happy I was able to get my haircut that same day. I had my haircut by an incredibly nice lady named Chelsea, and she was able to help me figure out a great cut for my face shape and hair texture. She was so knowledgeable about how I should style my hair and take care of it. I left the salon smiling! I will definitely be back. Very reasonably priced as well. Just one name- Tanya. Know it, remember it the next time you need a cut. I am sure the other stylists are just as great but I will follow Tanya. She is fab. I love the way she cuts my hair. She knows her stuff. She has a natural curl so she knows how to work with curly or wavy hair- she understands the rest of us who were born with the curls. She gives you excellent advice on how to manage your look as well. She can cut your hair so that it looks fab straight - when you feel like putting hours of work into it- and when you just want to let it air dry and have your curls rock. Service was okay but prices were crazy! Stylist charged $300 (before a tip) for cut and color. No pricing on website and went over prices after in the chair and appointment started. Most salons in San Antonio and in other U.S. cities would charge half the price if not less. There are salons withing five miles that offer great services and better prices. COVID19 price gouging at TR3S Salon? Cannot recommend and will not return. read more

I love this salon. I recently moved to San Antonio and was looking for a new stylist who could cut my curly hair. After reading several reviews I decided to try this place and Lynette. I LOVE MY HAIRCUT! And better yet- I loved the atmosphere of the salon. All the stylists were warm, inviting and friendly. And so were other clients. It's clear that this place is more than just about the business of cutting and styling hair- it's about creating an atmosphere of fun and family. I haven't had great color since moving here 2 years ago. I drive by this salon all the time so after reading all the great reviews I thought I would give them a try. So glad I did. Katie made some great suggestions after listening to what I wanted. Left looking like an angle with beautiful highlights that will be easy to maintain. Very warm feeling at this salon. Elva has been cutting my hair for over 14 years! I started seeing her when I was in 8th grade. She cuts my mother's hair as well. Elva is an amazing stylist but also an amazing person. OUTRAGEOUS PRICES!! Paid $75 for a hair cut and they wanted $350 for a balayage color on mid length hair, absolutely ridiculous prices and they are not even considered master stylist! Not only that but their method of scheduling is piss poor, no front desk girl so the best way to get in touch is to text and no website to check their services and prices. Took me a day of waiting just to get in touch for an appointment. I was very very adamant about explaining to the girl that my hair is super long, curly and hasn't been touched by a stylist in years so it will need a lot of work. Told her I needed a cut and balayage color and to be sure to schedule me for plenty of time because past experience has always been that I'm never scheduled enough time. Jordan, the stylist I was assigned to, followed up to confirm my appointment and I could have sworn I emphasized the same thing regarding scheduling enough time (I know I at least confirmed cut and balayage) and I told both girls that I was treating myself for my 30th birthday (I.e please don't screw up my birthday). Well I show up and stood around for a bit at the desk waiting to be noticed or at least greeted (they really need a front desk person), was finally acknowledged by Jordan when she finished with her customer and was shown to her station. After a couple minutes of getting acquainted she tells me they only scheduled 45 minutes for my appointment so she won't be able to do my color today...wtf. Oh and did I mention I live in Kerrville and requested off so I could be here on my birthday because I work Saturdays? Well she ends up spending 2 hours cutting and styling my hair, she was very meticulous, she even separated out little 1 inch chunks and finger twisted each one to style it (overboard? Maybe a little). The cut came out very well and I was impressed by her technique but was it worth $75...no I don't think so. I had expected to be compensated for their scheduling screw up, she gave me the impression she was styling my hair to make up for that but I can't help but feel I was up-charged to compensate her for taking so long on my cut. I will say that Jordan was pleasant to talk with and I don't doubt her skills, they are good at cutting curly hair, and I appreciated her honesty about not having enough time as I would rather have returned for the color later than her try to juggle two appointments at the same time, but my jaw dropped when she told me the price for the color. $350 is just too much for what I consider a partial color and now that my hair is cut it's just below my shoulder blades with short layers so it's not like I have that much hair to color now. read more

I had multiple disappointing experiences with one of the stylists in her salon, Alma. Before my second visit earlier this year, she sent me a text asking if I could move my appointment to the next day due to a personal situation and I agreed even though I booked 10 weeks in advance. Then visit #3 the cut was not great but the color was fabulous! Scheduled my next appointment for the week before Thanksgiving, 11 weeks out. I sent her a confirmation text and she confirmed. When I arrived at the Embassy oaks location I realized she was not there. I sent her a text and she said she had forgotten to tell me she had moved. Ok, so I drove down the street to the new location. She said they were enjoying their new space, it is very appealing. Not realizing until she had applied color to my hair that another lady (client of hers) needed a color fix due to a missed area during her previous appointment. It happens. Alma asked another stylist to help her. Team work, that was good. She put me under a dryer, typically I stay under that for 20 minutes. Alma left to attend to yet another customer, she cut her long hair. As time moved on, I was burning up under the dryer. Literally sweating and turning red. It was 43 minutes under an much more intense dryer than Alma usually had me under. Elva looked at me and walked over to me and said I was red and looked like I was burning up, I was. She said to Alma that the dryer was set for another 12 minutes and that it was too hot. Elva turned it off and I remained in that chair, still waiting. the client with the color fix was also waiting. For an additional 30 minutes I waited while Alma finished off the client in her chair. Then she asked me to move to a chair in front of a sink. Then she rinsed the hair of the client with the color fix. Alma put her in her chair and finished her hair. I sat still waiting at the wash station. It would be different if I did not have an appointment but I booked 11 weeks in advance. When Alma washed my hair and followed up by cutting it, my hair was dry and brittle. She had a hard time styling it, it was dry! I was yawning, over three hours and I left with burned, dry hair. I waited to wash it two days and then called her thinking I could condition it and have the soft hair she sent me home with on previous trips. But no! She would not answer my call so I sent a text in case she was working. She answered my text on the same phone she did not answer. I told her I needed to speak with her and she responded by asking why. I told her my it was about the condition of my hair and she said she would call me after work. Three hours later I get a text saying she was just finishing up, tired, and would call me the next day. Oh, and she said "thank you". She sent me a text about 9:30 that next day saying she would call me shortly and it was about 2 hours later. She began by saying my hair was dry due to the color and that my gray hair was resistant to color. I recounted the dryer issue and the brittleness of my hair when I left. Alma said it was the first time she used that dryer and she had triple booked herself so she wasn't able to see that I was burning up. She said all she could do is deep condition it. I agreed that was a good suggestion. Alma asked me to send her my availability and I said any weekday after 6. She asked for a text. I sent a text the next morning saying anytime after 5:30pm Tuesday or Wednesday. Her response was 6pm Wednesday. Next text was, "Next Wednesday". I waited an extra week to get my hair done so it would be fresh and pretty for Thanksgiving, now she wants to wait until a week post holiday. Not good. Her text said appointment next Wednesday at 6 pm. I then spent $70 on hair conditioning treatments at Ulta. I text her the Wednesday morning I was due to get the conditioning treatment saying I would see her at 6 pm and she responded that I had not confirmed and she had another appointment! Next text from her was that she would let me know if there was a cancellation. Seriously, how unprofessional! I text back saying I needed a date when she could do it and should not have to wait for a cancellation. I recounted the triple booking she reminded me of when I was paying her the $170 to color and burn my hair. She responded and scheduled it for the next day. Today. Also she stated this would be my last visit with her. I agreed, this was unacceptable! This morning she text me saying she was choosing not to condition my hair and that she was cancelling my appointment. The lack of consideration, professionalism and quality are reasons I would never return. The salon has a good following. This was not personal for me. I bit my tongue many times and remained calm. Things happen. Mistakes happen. The treatment I received left me wondering why Alma choose to not act as a professional. Maybe she was operating out of fear, embarrassment or resented being held accountable. Just BEWARE!!! read more
