Omg SO happy they opened a TP Tea in San Diego! I've been to the Bay Area locations multiple times, but I wanted to try something new this time. I settled on the tgy family milk tea which is tieguanyin milk tea with pudding, boba, and coffee jelly. I love the tieguanyin milk tea at TP Tea, the flavor is so strong, fragrant, and yummy. I did want a sweater treat than what I usually get so I opted for the 30% sugar as opposed to my normal 0 or 15% sugar. This was a big mistake on my part, especially since I didn't take into account that 3 toppings would already make the drink way sweeter than usual. Next time I'd definitely opt for 0 sugar if I'm getting that many toppings haha. Still a solid spot regardless! They have tables inside too, and service is pretty quick :)
Solid boba option although the amount of toppings I got in a standard drink that I didn't modify is pretty ridiculous. I wanted a bit more tea. Came on a Sunday right at noon and it was busy! They got through orders pretty fast though. Only option for ordering is through one of two kiosks or you could do it online. I got the 3Q TP Milk Tea with 15% Sugar and Less Ice. It comes with coffee jelly, qq noodles and boba. As you can see from the pic, more than half the drink was the toppings. The tea flavor was actually really good but just muted because of the toppings. The toppings were fun though and I liked the mix. I'd probably try and ask for half the amount next time. Only indoor seating and not that much so definitely meant for smaller groups. Plentiful parking though since it's in a not busy strip mall.
So good!! Having just come back from China, I didn't think much of a quick boba stop but - wow! Worth the stop and will definitely add to my regular rotation!!! Everything so tasty- 3Q TP milk tea with 15% sugar was everyone's winner!!! Amazing toppings and perfect QQ texture. Matcha yuzu - strong and refreshing. Midnight sesame great for no caffeine friends. Will definitely be back!
TAIWAN PROFESSIONAL TEA (4 stars) Gem in the randomness of Clairemont. It's tucked away in the middle of a neighborhood's plaza. I kind of like that, away from other boba places and easier to draw customers. It's a cute little boba shop with a lot of tasty offerings on the menu - I had a hard time deciding and went for something refreshing, familiar, and safe. STRAWBERRY MILK TEA ($6.75) - iced blended strawberry milk tea. The texture thicker like a smoothie instead the standard milk tea. This was calling, especially during a heatwave at the end of "winter". After one sip I was very satisfied as I liked the texture. I added some boba and they didn't freeze and get hard while in this drink. Nothing special about the boba - it was average. Overall I felt like I could taste the quality of the strawberry milk tea with good strawberry and creamy flavor. I believe it was caffeinated because I didn't sleep until 2am. I'd def order this again but want to try other items. HIGHLY RECOMMEND Until the next review...
such an underrated boba shop. this boba shop is hidden in a huge shopping center. there's usually a lot of parking and no wait to order. we really like the tie guan milk tea both hot and cold. it has a bold flavor that doesn't get muted whether hot or cold. the boba texture and sweetness is perfect! would really recommend checking this place out.
Date of visit: September 2025 This was a newer boba/tea shop that opened in San Diego. They are in the same parking lot as Five and Below, so there is plenty of parking. The fresh milk tea is pretty good with tie guan yin tea. I definitely recommend getting less sugar for the fruit teas. They have a few tables inside. I would say it's not that great of a study/work spot. Credit card only. No cash.
As soon as we walked in we were warmly greeted by a barista named Lisette. She made herself available to any questions we had. She greeted us w/ such a kind and warm welcome it made us want to order with her instead of the kiosk LOL The place itself is pretty small but it's in a very large plaza with ample parking. It felt clean inside & smelled like a sweet bakery which was the best part. We ordered the Sunshine Iced Tea which was refreshing and had pineapple in it but it wasn't an overpowering flavor. We also got the Matcha Brûlée Tornado which I ordered at 80% sweetness. It was really aesthetic to look at and the matcha was delicious. The only downside is that I prefer my matcha mixed in with whatever sweetener is in my drink which for this was the brûlée cream & because of the thick consistency it was a little difficult to mix the flavors but that definitely wouldn't stop me from getting it again!
Came here today and had such a great experience. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, which immediately made the visit feel special. The shop itself is new, super cute, and very clean. For drinks, I got the matcha yuzu with 15% sweetness. It was amazing. The yuzu added a nice tangy citrus flavor that balanced really well with the matcha, and it had tea-flavored jelly at the bottom which was such a fun touch. I love matcha and this one wasn't overly sweet, which is exactly how I like it. My husband got the strawberry smoothie with oat milk and ordered it at 0% sweetness. Even without added sugar it was still naturally sweet from the strawberries and tasted really fresh. Definitely a great option if you want something fruity but not overly sugary. Overall the drinks were really good and the atmosphere was great. I'd definitely come back and try more items on the menu.
I'm always looking for the next best fruit tea! This one is comparable to YiFang's fruit tea which the closest location for me is in Rowland Heights. I'm big on Sunright Fruit Tea but if i'm in convoy, I'd happily come here to get my fix! There was a big crowd right as they opened on a Saturday at 11:30am. I think many people place online orders. Even though they were clearly swamped, I liked how they made sure each customer felt welcomed and was taken care of. Great team! The shop itself has limited indoor seating, so it's more of a pick up and go location. There is plenty of parking because it is in a huge shopping area.
I'm so glad they landed in SD! I love their strawberry milk tea (blended). It's a really unique drink. They use fresh strawberries. I ordered online in advance and the pick up was a breeze. Service was on time. I'll be returning soon!
This is my and my husband's new favorite milk tea spot. You can actually taste the floral black tea flavor in the classic milk tea and the boba is soft and slightly sweet and not too chewy. During weekdays they have a buy 1 drink 15% off 2nd drink happy hour 3-5pm. We like the ease of ordering ahead thru Snackpass and being able to collect digital stamps. My favorite are the qq noodle! They're weird at first but then it reminds me on a common Vietnamese / Filipino pandan "worm" dessert. Service is usually quick and friendly. The parking is easy right now because there is major construction but I can see it getting tough when the Trader Joe's opens up.
We stumbled up on this place, not knowing it's a famous chain from Taiwan. Plenty of parking, surrounded by other restaurants and shops. It looked like this place hasn't been opened for that long. The place was clean and the people were nice and personable. There were so many different options, and there were a few tea that I have never heard before . I opted for Matcha because I understand what that should taste like. And they did not disappoint! This place might be one of the tea place that actually taste like they use high-quality Matcha. They don't water down their tea with a bunch of milk or cream. Matcha itself was fresh., umami, with little a bit of sweetness. Bonus point- their boba was cooked well too! I would be back if I'm around this area again!
TP Tea is a good spot to sit and chat with your friends. It's clean, and offers a large menu with specials. The service is quick and friendly. I got a Mango Boba Tea and did not add any extra boba or anything. However, there was an insane amount of boba compared to the drink my wife got which you can in the photos as a comparison. Nonetheless the tea itself was good but the mango flavor was on the weaker side, maybe overshadowed due to the honey mixing in with the amount of boba it had added. The prices are around what I see boba shops around charge, at best 25 to 50 cents more.

I used to drive all the way to Irvine just to get TP Tea, so I was really glad when they opened a store in San Diego, and even better it's close to my home. I really like the TGY here and especially the QQ noodles, but my favorite is still their golden jelly. However, after my first visit, I came back a few more times and they kept telling me it was out of golden jelly. I'm not sure if they removed that topping from the menu or if they just didn't have it at the time, but every time I went, the staff said it was out of stock for the day. Hopefully next time I come back, they'll have it again. read more
Great drinks and excellent service! The staff was friendly and quick, and there were plenty of seats to relax and enjoy. I really liked the boba, and my wife loved the cheese foam topping. The Tie Guan Yi cheesefoam had a very strong tea flavor and the boba in the Thai tea was very good, soft and chewy. The Taiwanese-inspired décor on the walls added a nice touch. I've been waiting for months to check this place out. There's a lot of boba shops all over town but not many use real tea leaves and simply have premade powder mixes and artificial flavorings. TP Tea is the real deal and utilizes OG methods you'd expect from a legit Taiwanese bubble tea spot. This is a great addition to the west Clairemont/Bay Ho area. Town Square has a lot of food offerings and now you can get your tea and sugar fix while you're at it without trekking to the Convoy area. Service was spot on. Staff are knowledgeable about their drinks and can give great reccs regardless of your palate. I can see myself coming here a few times a week with the family as the kiddos are in love and boba. Congrats to TP Tea for launching off the first shop in SD. Come by and quench your thirst with some phenomenal boba beverages. read more

Still their soft opening so was not crowded. The place is brand new so everything was super clean. The cashier was super nice to answer my question and let us try the square boba which I've never had before. I ended up with the black sesame square pearl milk tea after sampling and it was so good! If you like black sesame flavor this one is it! Sesame milk tea was very fragrant and I recommend it at 50% sweetness, the square boba is very similar to regular boba without the black sugar flavor. The tie guan Ying we have had at their other locations so it was the same - would recommend 80% sweetness on this one. read more

One of my new favorite boba shops! First off, this place smells just like what you want authentic Taiwanese boba to smell -- nutty and sweet. I've been here several times now and I love the Tie Guan Milk tea with boba (I get 15% sweet to taste the nuttiness but the servers have great tips on how to pick your sweetness). We also tried the sesame iron goddess cube pearl drink which tasted just like sesame and had cube pearl bobas. I prefer the milk teas and round boba but this was fun to try. They are always so welcoming here and quick to get out the drinks. On a rainy day, we got our drinks in less than 5 mins. I also love how they are on the Snackpass app so you can place your order ahead of time online if you're in a rush. read more
Always exciting when a new popular boba chain opens in SD! We came on a Saturday around 2 pm during their soft opening and the line was out the door. Waited around 20 mins to order and another 5-10 mins for the drinks. We ordered the tie guan yin milk tea with boba and the boba milk tea, both at 80% sugar. The TGY milk tea was floral tasting and you can taste the quality. The boba milk tea was refreshing with good flavor and quality, which was my fav. The boba was smaller than other places, but still nice and chewy and not too sweet. Both drinks were solid and I would come back to try their other drinks! 80% sugar was a bit sweet but I like sweet drinks. Parking was easy to find and service was nice and they offered us water and free samples for the long wait in the hot sun outside! Cute and modern inside with only a few tables. read more

My first time trying this spot but I heard they're a chain from Taiwan so was looking forward to it! Went the weekend after the soft opening and the line was out the door, around 20 mins to order and another 5-10 mins for the drinks! I got the tie guan yin milk tea with boba and my sister got the boba milk tea, both at 80% sugar since we heard they're on the sweeter side. The TGY milk tea was floral and refreshing and the boba was chewy and smaller than other boba places. The boba milk tea had a strong tea taste and was a little sweet. Both solid drinks and I would come back to try their other items as well! Plenty of parking and they kindly offered complimentary water and samples while we were waiting in the hot sun outside! read more

Great Soft Opening! We got the Toro Milk Tea with the house made Taro Paste and it tasted fresh! Not powdered, but freshly pressed. We got 30% sweetness which was great because it gave off the same sweetness level as other boba places 15%. The cashier was kind and the place looked vibrant. Menu was also easy to read! read more

Grand opening 9/13/25! The moo! my taro drink is made with fresh taro paste, not too sweet! It's not made with powder, that's important. The taro was thick and they were definitely not stingy with it! They had samples of their strawberry milk tea and milk tea 50% sugar for the opening, and that sealed the deal for me. It is a delicious milk tea, I dare say it may surpass my current favorite place in San Diego... and I don't usually like boba but theirs was very fresh and chewy. (It was a BOGO deal for grand opening so I had to get the boba milk tea) Grand opening: The first 50 people each day can pick a free tote (two sizes) - I picked the large one. The print on it is already kinda falling off but that's simply cuz of the material of the bag, which is also shedding constantly on me... the small tote might be good as a lunch bag. They had an ordering kiosk on the side but also one cash register. I will be coming back!!! read more

After my son and the crew finished their lion dance performance for the grand opening, we decided what better way to quench our thirst than to try TP Tea's delicious drinks. The place is airy and clean. Beautifully decorated for the grand opening. There are various drinks to choose from. At the moment, the dairy choices are fresh milk or oat. There are drinks without milk. Pending on what you order, price ranges from $4.95 - $7. Pretty reasonable price and comes in one size. Adjust the sweetness of the drink to your liking. We were a big group and the staff provided excellent service! They ensured they got the order right and were very efficient by placing our drinks and straws in carry out bags, all in a timely manner. I ordered TGY family milk tea, Coffee tea cheese foam, Mango passion smoothie and strawberry smoothie (buy 1 get 1 free - grand opening promo). All the drinks tasted fantastic! The drinks are delicious, and the workers are so nice and friendly. We got a fresh jasmine milk tea and a treasure taro milk tea. I didn't really the taro one and the barista made me a new boba mango milk tea without any additional charge. Keep in mind that the drinks are really sweet even though we adjusted the sweetness to 50%, so maybe lower than that. Good experience and will come back!! read more
TP tea soft opening! While we waited in line, we were given samples of their signature milk tea and osmanthus tea both at 30% sugar. We were recommended 30% sugar for milk teas and 50% for fruit teas. I got the Taiwan Classic milk tea because I wanted to try their QQ noodle - it felt like an in between of a boba and jelly. If you're looking for something different, would recommend to give it a try. read more

Let me preface by saying that I don't ever write reviews. However, after my first visit to TP, I knew that I absolutely had to. We visited on a whim during one of their grand opening days and had the pleasure of meeting who I can only assume to be the owner. I wanted to try something new so I ordered the Tie Guan Yin Milk Tea (roasted oolong) because it was one of their recommended drinks and one of the few milk teas that I'm not familiar with. He suggested getting it with 50% sweetness (which I did) and assured me that if I didn't like it, he'd remake it for free, or offer me something else. The drink was delightful and I fully agree with his recommendation for 50% sweetness - it's just sweet enough to satisfy my craving for something sweet, but also still allows me to fully taste the tea itself. Even aside from the tea (which btw, was fairly/competitively priced - because I know some of you are going to ask!), what really blew me away was the service. The owner was SO thorough in his recommendations and had the kindest, most welcoming demeanor. You can tell that he's truly put his heart and soul into this establishment and it is honestly so refreshing. TP Tea, I will absolutely be back. Stopped by TP Tea and tried the mango smoothie. It was refreshing with real mango purée, though the texture leaned more toward a slushie than a true smoothie. Still tasty and satisfying on a hot day. Looking forward to coming back and trying their teas next time. read more

New boba spot in the Clairemont Town Square Shopping Center. There's lots of stores to shop at and places to eat as well in the area. Plenty of drink options. You can either order from the kiosk or at the counter. My order only took about 5 mins to make. The mango passion smoothie can be made with or without milk. My daughter opted to get it without milk. It's refreshing. Sweet from the mango and a bit tart from the passion fruit. Unfortunately, they ran out of crystal boba. My go to is usually green tea but this time I tried something different. To my surprise the TGY (Tie Guan Yin) tea with boba, grass jelly & QQ noodles was pretty good. TGY is a bold, toasty oolong tea. The QQ noodles reminds me of what people put inside a Vietnamese dessert called "Che." Boba consistency is soft and chewy. Not too sweet. As I was leaving, the girl behind the counter asked me how I liked my drinks. From what I read in previous reviews, they are willing to remake your drink to your liking if you weren't satisfied in any way. That's wonderful customer service. Please don't take advantage of it. Will definitely stop by again when I'm in the area. read more

TP Tea is a well known boba place from Taiwan and in North Cal and now they have opened its first store in Southern Cali. Located in the Clairemont Square center near where the Reading Cinemas use to be at. They're known for their unique drinks and I agree. Since we had a lion dance performance there, we were one of the first 50 ppl there to receive their tote bag. And also they were doing their B1G1 free (9/13-9/14) on their drinks. The space inside is roomy with a few seating area. I saw a kiosk that u can order on there besides ordering at the front but not sure if that was used because of the large crowd for their grand opening. A few drinks I got was the Sunshine ice tea which is a refreshing citrus drink with pieces of pineapples and a unique jelly called Golden Jelly. I also ordered a mango-nada which has chamoy and tajin in it. A few other drinks (not pictured) was the TGY Family Milk Tea which has boba, coffee jelly, and pudding in it. Sounds like a lot of toppings, but it was really good! That drink was only $7, so that's actually a good price especially with all those toppings. Also got the tornado Thai tea which was nicely made cause it was a tornado swirl looking drink where it partly brown and white.
