I prefer Toyworld to other toy retailers, and I'm sure a lot of that is to do with childhood memories. I also feel their range is better though. This store is pretty big, and easy to figure out. You have toys for boys, then toys for girls, toys for babies, and sporting toys. Easy. The staff are pretty good, which I think you have to be to work in a toy store (when I last went in the place was being overrun with screaming children and the assistant kept a smile on her face the whole time.

Now I wish I'd kept all my little Disney figurines, because the owner sells them here. Along with a whole lot of other figurines. BUT the coolest part is not the collectible toys that came out with movies when we were kids - it's the metal creations the owner/artist makes that grace the front half of the store. What are these things? I didn't know if I was meant to recognise them from an obscure sci-fi book or not. When I asked, he laughed and said "No, I don't know what they are until they're made. I start off with something then see what it becomes." Don't you just love artists? Each sculpture is made from bits and bobs of machinery, and end up looking like something from the original Star Wars set. Also, another highlight here are his comic strip paintings. He's been a sign writer for over 50 years, and jokes that he can now draw a straight line pretty well. It's amazing to think he drew these then painted them. They look like they've been printed in paint. A.Mazing.

I was walking down Semaphore Road when suddenly I caught a huge "collectable toys!" sign in the corner of my eye - so of course I had to go check it out. When I walked into the shop I saw the large amount of awesome collectables they had available here, including comic strip canvas paintings that the owner had done himself. How do I know he did them? Because he was painting a batman one whilst I was walking around the store - very cool. So, it's an art gallery/collectable toys store with a heavy influence on science fiction memorabilia (including a Star Wars section and a Star Trek section). Now tell me this, where else are you going to find awesome robots and rockets which such character? I would like to know if there is another store like this one around. There's also a giant alien statue... I'm not sure what movie or whatever it's from, but it's awesome. It's about 2 and a half metres tall... and I want it, bad. There's also a few old school board games etc that you wouldn't find for sale anywhere else these days, which is pretty cool.

Campbell's is a clearance store which is full of cards, journals, art supplies, stationary, kitchenware, home-wares and even children's toys and boys! There's plenty of items to choose from, and lots of adorable knick knacks to be found. If I'm in the area it's definitely my first choice when I need gift cards and stationary, or I just want some new awesome home decor. Everything is cheap as well. The store is pretty sweet. I am a fan.

The Adelaide Arcade Games World is a frequent haunt of mine. The guys here are always good for a…read morechat and will fill you in on new games and their current favourites. If they don't know something, they'll find out for you. Look out for posters around the walls that link you to games groups and recommend games review websites if you're looking for more infromation. The shop stocks a good range of games, and I always find what I'm looking for. They are also quite well-priced, and I often find games cheaper here than I do in other games shops, which is a surprise, given the quality of the shop.

The products have a 'homogenised' feel ... nothing stands out, everything is in the same colour tones, nothing is too bright or too brilliant. But what I do like about this place is that they stock local artists and designers. The only issue is they are the *same* artists and designers that can be found at Bowerbird Bazaar, That Dapper Market, and various other shops and cafes around Adelaide. Saying that, it is great to have a gift store to grab that little something that can't be found in a department store and know that you are supporting Adelaide businesses. I'm just a bit disappointed that they don't have a 'point of difference' at all - it will be great if they decide to branch out in future and take a few more risks!

There are a crazy amount of stores all over asia and now they are branching overseas. It has Chinese origin and is jam packed full of stuff. Yes, stuff. Lot's of stuff. I don't know where to begin? Stationary, mugs, slippers, bags, pillows, toys, scented sticks, jars, things... things.. and some stuff. There is also a whole section devoted to gigantic toys. You know the ones that you see at the Royal Show for prizes when you win alley games. Those ones. I think if you are looking for cool little jars and storage containers you might like a few things here. But, otherwise just be prepared to be overwhelmed with things. Actually, I know who will love this store. High school students. This is a store for kids that want cute little toys to hang off their school bags, cool stationary and shiny objects to decorate their rooms. Don't get me wrong, there are some cute things here. Like a whole lot of cute stationary items. Loved the note pads and pens. But then I saw a flower bouquet of rabbits and teddy bears. I mean, who wants that?
