I often like to just browse through there to see what they have on offer. If you wander through to the back of store - and trust me its not a small space to wander through - you'll find a range of beautiful fashion pieces as well. All in all One Rundle Trading is an eclectic mix of beautiful things. I love the way the shop is set out with a Ladies Room and a Gents Room at the front of the store - and by that I don't mean toilets but rather rooms for of things specifically for men and women. There's also a children's room and a garden or outdoor room as well. They offer a Bridal Registry and an Interior Decorating service and best of all a free - yes free - picture hanging service. The space itself is massive and once served as a 1920's Melba Picture Theatre. Located in Stuart Road at Dulwich, I recommend wandering through on a Sunday afternoon to take in the sights. When you're in there, don't forget to look at the beautiful old ceilings - they're as gorgeous as many of the trinkets and pieces you will just fall in love with.

I stepped through the front archway into a glittering, vast space full of chandeliers and hallways leading into more beautiful rooms. I avoided eye contact and didn't want to touch anything for fear they would tell me I'm too poor to shop here. The rear section is clothing, and the books and pictures around the area with words like DIOR and CHANEL hinted at the fact I couldn't grab a bargain for twenty bucks. But a pair of shorts for five hundred? Sure, pocket change for you brokers and people with old money. What beautiful homewares they have, gorgeous lamps and paintings and sculptures, the only consistency being no two things are alike and yes, you pretty much could close your eyes and point and find a gorgeous antique chest or a marble sculpture of a blackbird and want to take it home so bad you nearly weep. I will never look at Ikea the same again. This store is glorious and completely unattainable for the likes of me.

Pimlott is a handy Art Supplies and Framing store located on Torrens Road in Croyden Park…read more It is a bit out of my way, and I don't generally come here for day to day supplies. Their range of art materials is quite good, although a bit limited when compared to the larger art retailers. Their real specialty is framing, which they do well and have a good range of frames available, although again nothing, spectacularly exceptional. The real reason Pimlott Framing, stands out to me is that they are one of the few stores in Adelaide that stock d-rings (the standard picture hanging supports required by most galleries), in large quantities, and at close to wholesale prices. I was recently preparing for an exhibition of about 15 paintings and spent about two days running around every art store/picture framer in town looking for d-rings until I found Pimlott. An absolute life saver. Also, Pimlott, also stocks lots of other hard to find materials for do it yourself picture framing, which is great if you are trying to do things on the cheap.

This nicely hidden, tiny, crammed and crowded shop packs in quite a lot of different things to add to your home. It's all cute, I especially liked the white desk lamps. My eyes were so busy looking around this store. I really liked how the staff asked me if I needed any help, and if I couldn't find it in here, they directed me to three other stores that I could look in. So helpful. The only reason I didn't rate this higher was because it was so packed, and hard to move and look around, that I just needed to find my item elsewhere.

I decided to go in and have a look, wow, it is packed with shabby chic, retro and vintage style items like room dividers, framed prints, tea towels, the biggest round wall clock I've ever seen, large format art, decorative bird cages and you know those Keep Calm and Carry On posters...well they've got them on tea towels here plus lots, lots more. It has three rooms full of anything shabby chic and as for retro/vintage there is nothing actually here from that era it's only based upon. The Shop Next Door is joined to Kidzone with a doorway in the centre room so you can walk directly through to Kidzone. It is a quaint little shop that shares a degree of old-fashioned charm with Meg's make believe movie shop. Rather than books though, these guys stock a range of home decorating items that are cute and quirky. I was first drawn to the place by the range of patio settings sitting out front. Each with a small table and two chairs, these pieces are painted in a finish that makes them look rustic and worn but still new and fresh. Inside you'll find furniture, clocks and home decorating pieces to bring your home to life. Divided into a couple of separate rooms there's one room full to brimming with more masculine pieces and then there's one that very girly and feminine. If shabby chic is your style then you're well catered for but if you're style is more understated classic, you'll probably find what you're looking for as well. It all gets back the division of rooms and styles. Its shabby chic meets retro styling meets vintage decor. If you're looking for that right piece to put on your wall, I'd visit The Shop Next Door. They have wall furniture and pieces of art that are suited to a variety of styles and decors and you're sure to find something that suits your needs. Gallery Shop is the best Adelaide collection of books on art, art history and books of artist's…read morework. The shop is filled with beautifully shiny and enormous hardcovers with full-page colour prints. You find the shop just to the left of the front entrance from North Terrace, opposite the gallery cloakrooms. The shop also sell cards, jewelry, scarves and stationary, yet they manage to avoid being just a Art Souvenir shop. They're a shop in their own right with high quality products. What comes with high quality? High-price. I go in here to reverently leaf through their huge tomes (the ones that aren't safely enclosed in boxes or plastic) and it's also where I shop for cards when I want something more original. It's definitely a good place to shop if you're studying art and looking for something specific (and happen to be an artist with money). It's also a good way to work out if an exhibition is actually worth seeing, because you can look through the book of prints before you pay to go upstairs and see it.

Yeah, that amazing book full of full colour prints is entirely out of my price range. Le sigh. Lucky looking is free! On the upside, the shop features lots and lots of locally published books on Australian and South Australian art, artists and art history, many of which are smaller and in the affordable price range. They also sell cards and prints of artists to be found in the SA Art Gallery which are lovely too.

I would be more than willing to set up shop (pardon the pun) in the shop front window of Bauhaus…read more Every few weeks when I walk past I can either imagine myself sitting atop their giant Moroccan pouffes in a kaftan, reading a vintage hard cover book or lounging about in their bright red acapulco chairs in a pair of their silver clogs admiring my giant Marimekko print on the wall. This gift shop and homewares store is high class, full of cultural finds that look like they've just been pulled out of a souk in a turkish market or from a church in eastern Europe. There is something for everyone from all budgets here too so don't let looks deceive you. You can pick up $20 scarves, $10 rings or even a beautiful photo frame for $25 or so. At the other end of the spectrum you can pay up to $140 for a small wire frame cube which I'm sure is handmade by pixies in the titus mountains or something. Staff are not intrusive and allow you to browse the shelves, cabinets, floor and walls full of knick knacks, prints and more. And when you go to pay make sure you ask about their free gift wrapping service to make your loved one feel like you've spent even more dosh on them!

Loved the necklaces and jewellery and how small things were in here. Cute, Exotic, Pretty, Affordable and Fun... the few words that describe the gift ideas in this place. I asked the shop assistant where their products were made, and they said most of it was made overseas, but their front counter was filled with Adelaide-made objects. I didn't give this 5 stars because one, there was very little walking room and you had to compete with other keen customers for space....and secondly, as a young guy, there weren't that many things that excited me or interested me. If I had a girlfriend, then yeah I'd definitely go here for ideas.

I had a disappointing experience at the Eckersleys St Leonards branch. I felt I was treated…read moredifferently to another customer who wasn't a person of colour, when my request to have my sheets wrapped in a recycled plastic sleeve was refused, yet another customer received packaging for her items without issue and with extra charges. Instead, my sheets were folded and wrapped only in paper, which got wet from a sprinkler on my way home and damaged part of it. If my request had been followed, this would not have happened.

Eckersleys is on the whole a very good art and craft store…read more I find that Premier Art is cheaper and Central Art Supplies more informative and of higher quality than Eckersleys and would usually use one of those in preferance to Eckerslys. However, they do have a very broad range, stock a number of items which are not available at the other art stores and from time to time have specials on offer which are cheaper beyond comparison when compared to other art supply stores. They have a very broad range of craft papers, as well as a good selection of easels and canvasses. (I recently got a very large italian made studio easel ultra cheap from eckersleys on special.) They stock as a standard item an acryllic paper pad (which I find very useful for water colour painting) which has a great deal more than the standard 12-20 sheets at a very affordable rate. I have not found anything comparable anywhere else. I also picked up a very high quality Kolinsky-Sable brush (a real not synthetic one) from Ecersleys which although expensive is fantastic and has lasted me years of use.
