We are continuing Sunday school for kids and for adults. We are looking at our buildings to better use them for mission. We have issues with our building (150 yrs old) but the people are warm and loving and prayerful and full of the spirit. They live what they preach, they acknowledge their human frailty, and God's ability to change us all. They serve their community (Sandtown-Winchester) every single day, not just on Sunday. The congregation loves to be active in the community and has many community events throughout the year, including but not limited to, Monster Bash, Peach Festival, Strawberry Festival, Caroling during Christmas, and Sour Beef dinners . Zion UCC is very focused on missions (as the UCC tends to be mission oriented). It really makes you feel great that you can help others in so many different ways. Pastor Courtney is very relatable and is always striving to reach out to the congregation in new and inspiring ways during the services. She's also very welcoming of constructive feedback. Her sermons touch on the scripture AND relates to modern day living/ struggles, even current events. She really makes you think and inspires at the same time! Music tends to be on the more traditional side, but there are occasions where more modern music is sung/ played. There's a nice blend of tradition and modern worship. Personally, being on the more spiritual side, I feel right at home! I would recommend Zion UCC to everyone of all ages, no matter who or where you are on life's journey!

St John Baptist Church is a friendly church located in Columbia. I recently visited their morning…read moreservice and was very impressed. The music and sermons were all very well done, and the interior of the church is very bright and inviting. They are also great with time management. The service went as follows, Song (everyone), responsive reading, announcements, song (choir), welcoming visitors, offertory prayer, offering, song (choir), announcements, sermon, invitation to discipleship, song (choir), alter call, song (choir). Some how, they were able to fit all of this into 8:00am to 9:00am! Plus, they actually started at 8:05 to allow for stragglers. The Church performs its offerings by passing baskets through the pews while the choir sings. They handout tithe envelopes at the entrance with the programs, and encourage those that are donating change or who don't have anything to donate, to just use the envelope so no one will feel uncomfortable. The only small issue I had with the service was the welcoming of visitors. They did a friendly welcoming, which is nice, but after they ask you to stand up, they then ask everyone around you to stand up and "greet you warmly," which can be a bit much for people that like to keep to themselves. Overall, its a great church, and I look forward to returning.

I got swarmed by so much wonderful people!!! The folks there invest in my generation and the many young adults here!!!! I keep coming back because the folks are soooo tremendous and genuine!!!!! This church was originally an Episcopal church established in 1842 and is now a Roman Catholic parish of the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter. The church is lovely in its simplicity. We were thrilled to see the beautiful stained glass windows by Louis Comfort Tiffany and John La Farge, plus others. Who knew that Baltimore has so many historic windows in our churches? We were even treated to an organ concert - just beautiful!

Calvary from a friend who was helping to start an Atrium program here…read more Atrium is a montessori-style catechism program for kids (which has been a big hit in our household!) There are lots of families here, so we feel relaxed and encouraged about bringing our kids to mass (which I can't always say for other churches around here.) We love the beautiful music and services, the excellent educational offerings for children and adults, and are eager to get more involved in the powerful community ministries they operate here like the Bus Stop Breakfast ministry. As a recent convert to Catholicism, after being raised in the Lutheran tradition, I find Mt. Calvary to be the best of both Catholic and Protestant traditions--right down to a big welcoming coffee hour meal in the basement fellowship hall after high mass on Sunday. I'm really excited about being a part of this congregation and encourage you to check it out!
