Fast forward to meeting a coworker who attended CCC and invited me to a service. This place is actually fun, has a live band and a great (and funny) pastor - not your typical dry, boring type. Everyone is very welcoming and kind! I have been a member since 2010 and can't wait for in person services to return to normal. They have a great children's program all the way up to high school.

The primary focus here is explicitly on image, branding, and driving up membership volume, completely at the expense of genuine human connection. If you want to be a faceless number filling a seat to satisfy their metrics, you'll fit right in. But if you are looking for a long-term, welcoming spiritual home, expect to be sorely disappointed. The internal culture is dictated by an exhausting demand for compliance, weaponized through a bizarre system of "invitation-only" small groups. Instead of fostering an open, supportive community, this structure breeds a toxic, cliquish high school environment. If you don't audition well enough, look the part, or play the social games required to get into these exclusive circles, you are immediately relegated to the periphery. It is deeply ironic that a church preaching community operates like a corporate franchise. If you value authenticity, emotional safety, and actual relational depth over a hyper-managed public image, look elsewhere.

The congregation loves to be active in the community and has many community events throughout the year, including but not limited to, Monster Bash, Peach Festival, Strawberry Festival, Caroling during Christmas, and Sour Beef dinners . Zion UCC is very focused on missions (as the UCC tends to be mission oriented). It really makes you feel great that you can help others in so many different ways. Pastor Courtney is very relatable and is always striving to reach out to the congregation in new and inspiring ways during the services. She's also very welcoming of constructive feedback. Her sermons touch on the scripture AND relates to modern day living/ struggles, even current events. She really makes you think and inspires at the same time! Music tends to be on the more traditional side, but there are occasions where more modern music is sung/ played. There's a nice blend of tradition and modern worship. Personally, being on the more spiritual side, I feel right at home! I would recommend Zion UCC to everyone of all ages, no matter who or where you are on life's journey!

We try to minister and care for our young children as well as our older folks. I would imagine it's "tricky" for our pastors to accommodate all ages, but they do a wonderful job! We are very family oriented and take teaching our children about Jesus seriously. I thank God for all He has done and is doing in our lives at Grace!
