I stumbled on this while looking for things to do in the area while attending a book signing. Being a book lover and author, this was an obvious choice. My friend and I explored the first two floors (we were pressed for time) and were in awe. I wish Charleston had something like this because I would be here every single day working on my next manuscript. There were several rooms, desks, and seating areas for readers and students alike to choose from. The large windows allow for plenty of natural light that offsets the bright interior lights. They have a wide collection of titles and studies! Highly recommend that you check it out. Just remember to be quiet and respectful as students may be present working on their projects.

The memorial currently honors eight individuals who died in the line of service. The officers showed a commitment to duty, honor, service and safety for those who live and work in Raleigh. The memorial is in Downtown Raleigh at the Raleigh Municipal Building near Nash Square. The memorial has a water feature and 21 pillars that represents the community from which the water flows. At sunset, the water table reflects the sky and illuminates the names in blue. I've not seen the memorial at night but will make sure I stop when I am in Downtown Raleigh at night to pay tribute to these officers.

Lots of parking and plenty of space for recreation. There are horseshoe pits, a basketball court, tennis court and a large well cared-for lighted baseball field. They do have a permanent structure with bathrooms. The fenced-in sand-based playground was in good shape, too. Several benches in the shade for parents to sit and watch. It looks like they have updated some of the equipment, which is nice. The location is kind of hidden, its in a residential area, tucked away. They have a basketball court, baseball fields and play equipment including swings. The landscaping is not a neat as the other nearby parks, so its hard to give more than 3 stars. The city does host a 4th of July festival here every year as it has lots of space. Overall, its a cute little park that never gets very busy.

Lots of shopping opportunities and many places to eat. Also I have seen traffic is not bad for where I've been and the roads are in great shape. It is not a huge city it kinda feels like a large town. There are no high rise buildings like you see in the large city's. To me this city can grow on you if you stick around long enough. I'll just have to update each time I'm here, and pick out different parts that I see. Like at the intersection of US 70 and NC 111 they have Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. Well not right on the corner, but while driving down US 70 you can see jets flying around. Last time I was down our oldest granddaughter was just fascinated with flying around. I had to stop at shopping center and park so she could watch them. Now that is some free entertainment, but you can't count on it every time though. Oh I almost forgot 2 of the best BBQ joints are there too, McCall's and Wilber's. So until my next visit.
