The Office is near reasonable parking for the meeting participants, too, when compared to the other public garages. Kyle, the receptionist, was helpful and friendly. The hourly rate was reasonable, too, when compared to other coworking spaces nearby. I highly recommend this alternative when you are trying to work or have meetings in downtown Berkeley. It's a few blocks off Shattuck Avenue, but it's worth the short stroll.

When asked by the owner to come to a reconciliation she refused and threatened to call patrol. Our party was still fun, but very distracted. The vibes were off, the owner tried to improvise by letting us bring music outside with a minimum volume limit but it didn't help much.

There are the standard floating and dedicated desks, conference & telephone rooms, but then there is also a yoga room and a meditation room. These are sometimes also used for group meetings or phone calls. I like to do laps in the yoga room while taking phone calls to get more walking in during the day. There are weekly yoga classes, posture, and mindfulness and I've even been to a community pizza party which was super tasty. There's also coffee, tea, fresh fruit and sometimes specialty water/tea/juice served in the coffee/copier/mail room. The only downside is that the hours are 6AM - 9PM so if you're looking for a place with 24/7 access, this isn't the spot for you.

I only practice therapy part-time, so renting an office on my own was not affordable, and sublets typically offered very limited (and often less desirable) days/hours of availability. Sima Space has struck a new model that strikes the balance of affordability and flexibility. I have been able to build my practice up one client at a time without incurring an outrageous overhead while my caseload was small. As my practice has grown, I have benefited from the incremental discounts built into my contract, which incentivize using the office more hours each month. I have saved a lot of money in the months I've been at Sima Space. Besides the rent-by-hour model, I have benefited greatly from having the option to see clients in any of the three locations they have in San Francisco (Nob Hill), Berkeley (Downtown), or Oakland (Pill Hill). I have enjoyed using the Berkeley office as my primary location, but have been able to build in a day of seeing clients in San Francisco when I'm there for other meetings anyway. My personal experience working with Sima and Sayed has also been a delight. It is clear from talking to either of them that they truly care about creating an environment that supports therapists in their healing practices. They have been warm, responsive, and flexible throughout my time with them, which makes all the rest of the experience all the better. I would highly recommend Sima Space to therapists starting their practice, and to established therapists looking for a flexible part-time office environment.

I'm thankful that this isn't my home location. Vibe: Front desk wasn't super welcoming, even though I had shared it was my first time visiting. The shared spaces were all on one level, kitchen and then another room next to it with very little options for seating. The chairs weren't very comfortable. Because it was a small space, and I don't even recall seeing phone booths, I could hearing everything going on around me. Parking: This was a challenge. But maybe someone more familiar with the area would have an easier time finding parking. I found a parking garage a couple of blocks away.

The vibe and sense of community and culture at this space is one that is like no other office spaces Regus had in the East Bay or SF, forget stuffy and uptight and think relaxed and free flowing vibes! When COVID-19 shut…read moredown businesses, I tried to get out of the agreement, but they refused and claimed that their business center was open, which it was not due to the shelter-in-place orders. Despite their being unable to provide their end of the bargain, I continued to pay until Sept. 21, 2020, when I notified them that I wanted to cancel the membership. Nearly a month later on Oct 13, 2020, Regus wrote back and said "We are sad to see you leave; this is to confirm that your agreement ends October 31, 2021." When I read this misleading email I missed that my contract was until Oct. 31, 2021, rather than 2020. Then on December 2, 2020, I got another invoice. Enraged, I wrote to challenge them again that same day. They ignored me. The charge started pending on December 19, 2020, so I wrote their useless account service desk again to dispute the charge. But again, no response. Then I was charged on December 21, 2020. I have since disputed the charges with the credit card company. Regus provided me with no notice that my contract was automatically renewed in Oct 2020 for a full-year term. No email, no call, nothing. Even so, knowing how shady they are, I tried to pre-empt any automatic renewal on Sept. 21, 2020, when I wrote to end the contract well before the contract would have renewed. But Regus simply renewed it anyway. Their business practices are unconscionable. Do not sign a contract with this company. You will regret it.

Having opened just last week as one of the Bay Area's premier green office and event spaces, the Brower Center aims to inspire social action by providing an incubation ground for the collaboration of progressive organizations and citizens. Currently it houses half a dozen non-profits from those supporting local agriculture (CAFF) to community builders and environmentalists. The 180-seat theater, galleries and restaurant provide the pollen for the curious, active swarms to engage and mobilize. The execution is gorgeous: the building uses no artificial light during the day and collects vast amounts of energy from the rooftop solar panels. Rain is also channeled to water the patio gardens and toilets. It feels expansive and open but is a bit lacking in warmth. However, the Salgado photography exhibit on the ground floor is not to be missed; heart wrenching and thought provoking, they hit the (reclaimed) nail on the head with this one. I'm hoping to see some interesting community programs for youths. The key here is in utilization. We'll see what comes...
