The Hotel is really cool, historic and lots of character. They do have a decent happy hour. Our company trip stayed there 4 days so we ate here everyday for convenience. 1) ribeye steak, not good at all, zero seasoning or flavor. 2) burger, about the worst I've ever had, tasted terrible. 3) wings : ordered dry and had sauces separate, these were "ok" (sometimes tasted kinda 'fresh') but the sauces were good. 4) chicken fettuccini alfredo was actually decent, order that 5) a coworker ordered a pizza and said frozen pizzas were better. Had breakfast every morning, complimentary so I should judge too harshly, but not really that good. Very subpar products being bought. For such a nice hotel the food is severely lacking. We had 1 PM reservations for brunch on Sunday. We wanted to eat prior to the Gutfeld show at BMO. Arrived at the hostess stand and looked around. There were several tables with no water or anything. We were seated after a few minutes. We waited for 15 minutes no water, no waitstaff. Several tables around us were the same. Didn't really seem like we were going to be able to make the 3PM show at this rate. Finally left after 20 minutes. To be fair the hostess did say the kitchen was backed up. All and all it appeared they were understaffed for the patrons they had. We met some people at the elevator that had been outside dining and they said the food was good, however it was slow to come out for them also. I guess they have a rooftop deck for dining outside. The place is really kind of neat and I would have liked to eaten there. It seems like it may have been an old factory or something converted to hotel and dining. I was intrigued by the short rib eggs Benedict. May stop by again when we're in the area, hope things improve. Seems like it could use some better management. We did speak to the staff at the front desk in the main lobby on the way out and they were totally indifferent, no sorry about your bad experience, more of an oh well attitude. read more

The customer service was horrible. It felt like we were an inconvenience to them and to top it off. They forgot to tell us before we sat to eat that their credit card machine was down and they were only accepting cash. $80 including a $10 tip for two pizzas and order of fries and a steak queso dip. The pizza was nothing special. On top of it our waiter just didn't care. I asked one question about the steak queso dip and he replied. It's queso and chips not even attempting to be hospitable and polite. The people that work there need to be trained on hospitality and manners when they are serving over priced food. read more

I was excited to try The Tower Kitchen & Bar after being such a big fan of The Top, appropriately located on the vertically opposite end of the building. The ambiance and atmosphere of The Tower was pretty nice--it's located a floor below the lobby floor which gives it a rather underground feeling. Similar to the other restaurant, there are big windows to look out (although the view isn't as nice as upstairs!) The big highlight here was the staff and bar. The service from our waiter was prompt and friendly, and the drinks that the bar was bringing out were pretty good! The food could definitely use an overhaul though. It's not that the food was "bad" per se, but for the prices that they are charging & for the solid delivery that is going on upstairs, they could definitely do better downstairs. The flatbread that we got frankly did not taste fresh and was possibly reheated, and the steak & sides were a disappointment--bland, chewy and not cooked as requested. This is more of a 3.5 star review than a 3. The staff was nice and helpful. We started with a coconut shrimp appetizer. The shrimp and salad that came with it were delicious, but our fries were obviously not fresh. We told the waitress, and she was very nice. She replaced or fries and they were delicious (see photo evidence). The shrimp were crispy and flavorful in the sauce that they came with was good. My wife ordered a berry gin cocktail that was very good. It was well balanced you could taste the berry and the gin. Not too strong. I ordered a Miller Light draft. The waitress brought me a bottle after informing me they were out of the draft. No biggie with that beer! The chicken pasta with a red sauce was fine, but unremarkable. Solid dish, but nothing to write home about. I ordered the pizza with beef, arugula and balsamic. It was pretty good and I ate the whole thing. Not mind blowing. I ultimately wish I ordered a different pizza, but this was good and a something a little different. The salmon was quite tasty. It was well cooked and had a nice flavor. The rice perhaps could've been a little more interesting, but was fine. The lobster mac & cheese was the best dish. It needed a little salt, but overall was very good, flavorful and worth the money. Nice big piece of lobster and gooey mac & cheese, I enjoyed that dish very much! Our server was courteous, honest, and generally pleasant. For some reason it could take a long time when we requested certain items like salt or a refill on our drinks. It's hard to tell if that was our individual server, or if the systems were not working very well in the restaurant overall. Everyone felt great about the service, but it was definitely not perfectly attentive. As I said this is more of the 3.5 than a 3, but it was hard for me to justify a 4. There were too many little things that brought down the experience. Overall though, this is a solid place for a meal with a friendly atmosphere. The hotel it's in is cool too and has some lovely old pieces of industrial equipment that were fun to check out. Worth a stop! read more

After walking around Rockford and finding everything closed on a Sunday night, we came back to the hotel for dinner. I was a little skeptical based on reviews, but I'm not sure how people could have bad things to say. We started with a couple of drinks - margaritas and mules. The bartender was great! We shared the coconut shrimp appetizer, a hand-tossed pepperoni pizza, and back & bleu pizza. Everything was really good, but the shrimp was AMAZING - seriously, so delicious. I want to preface this by saying, the staff and workers were absolutely lovely. The ambiance was decent, it's actually what piqued my interest before looking at the menu. I ordered the salmon dinner which came on a bed of rice with broccolini and carrots. The vegetables were the best part. The salmon was not fully warm and the rice was very dry and lacking flavor. My friend ordered the pasta and found it to be bland as well. The wine I ordered was served in a partially dirty cup. Overall it just was not a good experience and honestly, I would not want to return. I usually like giving lengthy fun and detailed reviews, but truthfully I couldn't find anything to expand on other than the staff being friendly and decor being pretty. read more

Tasty food! Nice location! Make sure you look at the various pieces of equipment from the factory that the Embassy Suites now occupies. It's well-presented, and interesting! We'd been wanting to try this place out since it opened, and finally had the chance. Seating was spacious and plentiful. The wine prices were quite reasonable. We ordered a nice dinner. I had a steak which was good, and the vegetables were very tasty. This is on a lower level - look around. The lighting is interesting, the view of the river - it's just a nice place. read more

We -- a party of two, were literally the only patrons during the lunch hour and still received slow service. Our burger was cooked well (we requested medium). The black and bleu pizza was definitely made with ground beef as opposed to beef confit as described on the menu. Finally, our server botched our request for onion rings in place of fries. my family and I were going to a show in Rockford, and we couldn't find a restaurant that was available on short notice. Then we found the Tower! We weren't certain about it because of the lower reviews, but honestly I have nothing but praise to give to this establishment!! The burgers were delicious, my wife loved the pasta, and my dad was delighted by the chicken sandwich! The waitress was incredibly impressionable and kind, and the atmosphere was super warm and stylish! I had the BEST whiskey cocktail I've ever had- the apple orchard whiskey (still trying to find that recipe). The ONLY negative I have is the small menu - I would love more of these delicious meals! I took my daughter and boyfriend who were visiting me from LA here for lunch and we loved this place! I loved the industrial like decor. The service was excellent and the food was amazing! Honestly the best chili and grilled cheese I've ever had! I booked a suite at the hotel in the fall for family which includes a free breakfast from this great restaurant! I visited Tower on 1/21/23 with a party of 10. I ordered the Tower Burger and substituted a chicken breast. It was horrible. The chicken was as thin as the lettuce and extremely dry. I've never had a chicken sandwich where the chicken was thinned with a mallet....The server showed the thin, dry chicken to the kitchen manager and they offered me an appetizer or dessert. I turned both options down and suggested they take off the sandwich instead, which they did. The manager never came out and apologized or acknowledged the poor quality of the meal. Every embassy I stay at is amazing, I come visit my home town every year and I love visiting this hotel. The passed 2 years for Easter me and my family book with Embassy no regrets! We love eating at the tower, the tower is so unique and the service is always amazing. I did witness a young server that was so amazing to us and very hard working she was the only server working and the bartender was so kind as well. the worlds biggest smile I ever seen, she was so sweet and so kind, She was taking care of this table behind me but unfortunately the people wasn't nice to her at all. I over heard they conversation every time the sever walked away and they were trying to falsely get free food and discounts. They slandered racial quotes when she walked away but when she returned to the table they constantly lied about not having things. The server was being so sweet to them through it all. The Embassy customer service is always good even with rude customers. Thank you Embassy and your amazing staff. That server made my day. She didn't let the little things stop her smile. After having cocktails at the rooftop bar which has a limited menu but was a great experience, we decided to have dinner in the basement restaurant. Talk about night and day experiences. We were greeted at the entrance after a short wait by a friendly man who sat us at our choice of table or booth. There were plenty of options as the place was pretty empty for 7:00 on a Saturday night. My wife said that she felt like we were walking into a prison with all of the concrete walls and ceiling's. After sitting at our booth for a minute and looking at the drink and food menus, the same person who greeted us and gave us the menus was there to take our order. I ordered the tower burger and my wife ordered the kale chicken salad. After a 1/2 wait, a server came and delivered our food. My wife liked her salad but my burger was over done and not great. Plenty of other places downtown to go for better food and atmosphere. read more
