If you didn't bring one, this is a good place to pick up a hat. Hotel in the park also has a souvenir shop, but this store has a bigger selection, if you're looking for a souvenir. If you've come from Bozeman or Livingston, you'll want to get a soft drink or yogurt, you'll appreciate sitting here for while before heading in. Food is good at the nearby Two Bit Saloon. It's still a bit of a ride from here to the mineral springs....keep your eye out for buffalo, they're all over the place.

We stopped by to grab ice cream before we camped out near Old Faithful for the next eruption. We got the huckleberry ice cream in a cup and added a waffle cone. As an added bonus, the ice cream had huckleberry jam swirls in it, yum. Totally fresh, great texture - yummy. Satisfied our ice cream itch on a warm day after a long hike! We wanted to sit outside to eat the ice cream but a couple of ravens occupied the place because people kept feeding them crumbs. Do not feed wildlife, including the birds - there's signage/requests everywhere in the park but there's always someone who doesn't heed them.. Sigh. Overall the store is great if you want to shop for souvenirs and anything Yellowstone or huckleberry related. Apart from that, they do stock some ready to eat meals as well as some pantry items.

We sat next to national park executives that made the trip from Mammoth Basin for work and a good lunch. We also enjoyed visiting with a family from Milan, Italy who were visiting the park. It's the type with the permanently mounted stools where you sit at a bar and you face others on the other side. We ended up striking up quite the conversation with other park visitors, which was fun and helped us plan other stops in our day. The food was excellent! I had the most amazing grilled cheese sandwich (or it seemed so at the time!) And my partner had chili that he absolutely loved. They have some pre made food and a large ice cream area, plus gifts and things. They have some limited groceries too, less than a supermarket but more than a grocery store. Plenty of street parking outside too, I got a spot no problem and you don't have to pay anywhere along the roads in west Yellowstone. They had bathrooms for customers too, decently clean. Overall glad for this place as a resource right there in west Yellowstone!

I wanted a hat that was displayed in the case out front of the store. It was nowhere to be found in…read morestore. I was told by an employee that he would get the hat out of the case that evening and have it available for me to pick up next morning. I returned the next morning to get the hat and it had not been removed from case. The employees that morning told me they could not get in case and left it at that. Very disappointed I went out of my way to get a hat I was promised and none of the employees could get it for me.
